You’re in my Mérida!! 😱😍
The thick walls of the colonial houses aren’t made out of concrete, but mampostería, the local traditional stone and mortar. You can see it in unfinished wall like outside along the pool, and many old buildings across the city. The finishing - especially in waterproof walls and floors, shower, pools - is often the traditional chukum, kind of a stucco that’s been used since the maya have moved to the area. There’s so much history in Mexico, down to its walls and tiles! 🤔🤗😍 🇲🇽
Oh thanks for the info! So chukum is what we tell a contractor when/if we design a custom shower. It's so pretty! 😍

Personally, I like all the variety y'all offer on your channel! I never know what is next. Will they show up in a foreign country enlightening me on the local food and sights? Will they be traveling in their RV? Will they be renovating another RV? I am envious of your lives. You always bring something different to the table. Keep on doing that! What a beautiful, little shotgun villa! They've done such a nice job with the furnishings and decor. How fun would it be to find a few Merida tiles to use as coasters in Clementine? Dollar stores have adhesive cork you could add to the backs. The row of colorful buildings, and the random rooftop access, remind me of Puerto Rico; and the Picasso Casa courtyard reminds me of your BnB in Bali. Nice digs 👌

This is is such a beautiful casa! So much to explore just within the house-I do love those tiles!! Would love to stay there and have some frozen drinks by that pool!
Roof access is super common in Mexico. My grandmother had one and I remember visiting in summer and being amazed up there. They used to laundry up there and hang it. A lot of times water tanks are kept up there too. It’s a great use of space especially since roofs are flat in Mexico. Enjoy Merida! Hope you explore more of central Mexico! I recommend Guanajuato. ❤️🇲🇽
Your AirB&B looks amazing. I think the ones that you stayed in when you went to Bali were equally as cool or even nicer.

Love the vibe going on. The pool temperature on the other hand had that same issue when my wife and I went down to Miami we stated in a house amd the pool was so cold but we couldn't resist going in which we did but dang was cold was laughing since I remember what it felt like as well.

We've met up with so many awesome people over the years!! We did get to meet up with Kara and Nate about 4 years ago in Estonia. Hopefully we'll get to cross paths again with them now that we're all out on the road 🚐🤞

Gorgeous villa, and those tiles 😍!!! It reminds me of some unassuming little Victorian cottages here in Melbourne. They've been renovated to open up to a much larger space, but you wouldn't know it looking at them from the street! That pool looks so inviting I just want to be there right now with cocktails! 🍹🍸
