    Great review Keith! Thanks for the honest review and for sharing all your testing and tuning with the suspension on his vehicle. It looks like you've got it zeroed in buddy. I enjoyed hearing your outlook on the trophy truck scene. Maybe there is a Baja Rey in my future!

      Now your talking Chris! I'd love to hear what you have to say about the Rey! Boy would I love to get together and bash sometime! Guess I'm going to have to ship an RC out to Long Island and jump on a plane!

    Wow, my experience with my RTR has been nothing but awesome. I think you have gone the wrong way with your suspension. 20WT front oil and 25wt rear is spot on. I love the soft axial plastics because I can beat on the truck and not break anything. You are spot on with the 22t pinion though. This is a truck that you have to drive very differently from other vehicles. I really want to see some run vids from your truck. PS, 4s is overkill in this thing.

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  8 років тому +2

      Thanks for watching and your input! There is no right or wrong way to tune your car, it's driver preference. Since your rig is at stock weight the lighter oil is most likely sufficient, however mine was bottoming out in the front end over mild terrain using stock fluids. Remember a general rule of thumb. Spring rate = ride height and shock oil is the cushion coming of a jump. Im running a 3s 5200mah 40c lipo in mine and it's plenty! Hopefully I will be able to get some running footage up soon. Glad to hear you are enjoying your TT!

    Hi Keith, i just finnished my score trophy truck and it was a blast to build, i used pretty much every option upgrade part you did plus a couple of more. However the car weighs a heck of a lot more now :) which leads me to a very important question i must ask you: what shock oil (and/or springs) do you have in yours?..... the shocks on mine wont hold up the car/ride height nowhere near stock. I used the shock oil that was provided in the kit.
    Cheers, keep up your great channel! :) (sub since last year ✌🏼)

    Nice! I appreciate your tuning tips. Have you by chance checked out MetalConceptsRC front A-arms? I love my set! I bet they would look great on your rig, plus they allow for a little more suspension positions. Good luck with the build and I look forward to more vids.

    Great info. Thanks. I'm looking to go into trucks soon. I've been doing Tamiya buggies, mostly.
    I'm guessing your fav vehicle is this Yeti truck. What about the Slash 2WD?
    BTW your paintjob on this truck is really something, I love the color combos.

      Thank you for the kind words friend! I started out many moons ago with a Tamiya Grasshopper. Tamiya makes great stuff! Had the super champ and Blackfoot as well. You would really like the Slash 2wd! It was my first RC when I returned to the hobby in 2011. It’s a fantastic machine! The Proline Pro-2 is basically a slash that has all of Prolines upgrades on it. I may be selling my pro-2 if you are interested.

      Thanks for your offer, and link. I'm not really sure yet what to get yet so I will need to consider it. I notice the Slashes haven't got that solid rear axel, which is an important detail if you compare real trucks. I'm now looking at the Yeti and the Baja Rey from Losi. Losi seems to have a more durable body.

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  6 років тому

      Tomas Dahlgren
      Any of those are fantastic choices! The Baja Rey is probably a little more durable out of the box. But if you want a kit build you’ll need to go with the yeti score.

    Keith, you any running videos with this yeti score? and with your rear shocks in the stock position how have you minimized if any the sag on take-off from the weight on the rear.

  • @ExtremeRC4x4
    @ExtremeRC4x4 8 років тому

    Thanks for showing your setup! I'll need to try a shock tune like yours when I get time. Just installed the Axail full width adapter fro the rear axle so that you won't have to use the large hex adapters on the rear tires. This also allows for me to use the same offset rims in the front or the rear. Check it out!

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  8 років тому

      I have been eyeing that upgrade already! Couple of questions though. Do you use the same plastic hex adapters used on the front end or are you using vanquish slw hubs? If so what size slw's. Btw I just checked out ur channel and subscribed!

    • @ExtremeRC4x4
      @ExtremeRC4x4 8 років тому

      +Bulletproof RC thanks for the sub! I used the same hex adapter that is used on the front of the stock yeti and I will have all the parts you need and how to install it in a new video that should be out on this Monday.

      +Bulletproof RC also do the hot racing sway bars come into contact with the roll cage like they do of the stock trophy truck? If you don't know that how long is the upper part of the sway bar?

    I agree with what you said about the front. I put 85 weight with the stock springs and that's seemed to work for me, but I am sure I could still go up a little more. I do enjoy the trophy trucks and I can say that the SCORE is definitely one of my favorite trucks. I can't wait to get my hands on the Baja rey.

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  8 років тому

      That's awesome! Sounds like we have the same driving style! Glad to hear you are enjoying your TT as well. These are so fun to drive! To bad the Losi Rey is nearly two months away.. The Losi SCBE was supposed to release early May and was pushed out to June.. Hopefully that don't happen to the Rey!

      +Bulletproof RC From the looks of it, I don't think so, or would hope not. One of the developers for the Baja rey is frequently on my fb group and has assured that they have plenty of product and has been addressing all questions about the truck. Your tt came out great, love the color choices

      I'm not on fb but Chris at Everyday Rc has been sending me the video links from the developers. I too am excited for the Rey and hope they make the July release. Thanks for the complement on my color choice! It was tough deciding what would go with the wheels and decals and still look retro.

    Don't want to make your front shocks too stiff. With ifs, it will be tossed around if not tuned to 100%.

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  8 років тому

      80wt shock oil and 3.95lb front springs seems over the top but with my setup the front end feels like 30wt in other vehicles I have. The aluminum bulkhead, hinge pin brace, shock tower and motor mount added weight to my front end. The front end was sagging pretty bad with stock setup. It was not able to tackle rough terrain with the under dampened front end. So far I really like it with this setup!

    Hello kieth yo man I just put in front diff locker for my trophy truck also put in cvds but I have a massive front wheel wobble when turning. Why is this happening??Shakes the whole truck. Only when turning. I'm lost.

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  8 років тому

      I would not recommend locking the front diff with this rig bro! When making a turn the outside front wheel must cover more ground to complete the turn than the inside front wheel. The point of diffs are to allow a difference in rotation between the two wheels to allow tighter turning. If you lock the front end it will cause wheel hop because one of the wheels must lose traction to complete the turn. Locking the front diff is mostly valuable when crawling at low speeds. hope this helps.

    I have been and have had the trophy trucks race 2 Feet infront of me and they go more than a straight line some parts are but lots of corners and so

  • @3lv1src14
    @3lv1src14 8 років тому

    If you want to make it more realistic take the dog bones out in the front and make it 2wd. yes there is a couple of trophy trucks 4wd but most are 2wd. I did this on mine when I had it stock and it was a big difference

    • @krlaturn
      @krlaturn  8 років тому

      I suppose that would be more realistic. But then again power to weight ratio on the 1/10 vs 1/1 scale might be impossible to drive effectively.

    I'm so torn between yeti score trophy, losi rey trophy truck, and arrma senton. . I'm not a racer and in all honesty my kids are going to get most of the trigger time. . a mature 8 yr old ..mature as in my kids pretty good with the driving, doesn't abuse things and is hands on with the repairs right along side me .. so I (we're ) looking for durability over absolute performance but really appreciate the true to scale aspects of the trophy trucks due to the more realistic 4 link rear independent long travel suspension . we have a full scale trail machine I built for rock crawling. .long arm triangulated 4 link rear 3 link front. .lockers, built on a jeep tj chassis, I mention it because we work on it together and an rc that emulatesthe full size version is incredibly useful a teaching tool , most kids have zero mechanical aptitude and even less of a concept of ownership responsibility when it comes to maintaining something, they are kidsso you can only ask for a little bit. but when mistakes happen as they do and things break down it'll be nice to have something of good quality to wrench on together and spend time together playing with .. we're coming from a redcat blackout sc which we made brushless 3s and at this point the laws of diminished returns has kicked in on that thing and we're ready to go to the next level. . taking into account all the novel above and our situation. .if you we're in my shoes but with the knowledge that you have accumulated what's your pick between the 3

      If you want scale go for the Baja Rey. The Rey is the more durable TT. But if you want something Bulletproof go for the senton! It's based on a 1/8 buggy platform and is faster, handles better, and more durable than the Baja Rey or the Score TT! Considering your going to let you young ones drive it, the Senton would be my choice hands down..

    What motor are you using? I have the castle 2400kv short course truck combo and the can is too long. If I cut away some of the battery tray is it bad if my hot electric motor touches my lipo? I'm new to electric I'm s nitro and gas guy.

      It took me around 5-6hrs. This is my 4th Axial kit and my 2nd Yeti so it was a familiar build. Keep in mind the body alone is quite a lot of work with the roll cage and extensive cut outs. It was a fun build!
