Fires mine shells, 40% bigger and much more explosive and damaging than say 20mm Vulcan shells, and it's a lighter equipment fit, ROF is excellent too at up to 1700 rpm. Additionally there's no 'spin up' time required like a Gatling, in the first 2 seconds the ROF of each is about the same, and the BK-27 revolver cannon is cocked by pyro charges, the Vulcan at max ROF can require as much as a whopping 25kw of electrical power to operate
M61A1 is more optimized for air-to-air use considering its higher rate of fire and shotgun-like spread. Bk-27:s advantages are its light weight, bigger punch and laser-like accuracy. Ammunition capacity per round is significantly smaller, but weight wise it's about the same. Considering that the role of on-board cannons is shifting towards more air-to-ground usage, Bk-27 seems like more geard towards future trends.
It’s a BRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTTTT rather than a BRRRRRRRTTT because it fires slower. The round isn’t far off from 30mm either, it’s 27mm. Although I do think the French GIAT-30 is better. 2,500 rpm revolver cannon in 30mm as opposed to the BK-27s 1,800 rpm 27mm.
I honestly think it's hilarious how people complain every time fake, machine-gun-like sound effects are used in films - when the reality is they sound like a beefy rippling fart! Who argues that fart sounds need to be used??
Thai Gripens slaughtered Chinese Su-30MKK fighters beyond visual range, but within visual range the Gripens were the ones that got slaughtered. That was probably because the Thai Gripens were equipped with old AIM-9L short range missiles. I bet the situation woul've been quite different had they had IRIS-T:s.
I'd really like to know how many bullets are fired off in each of those bursts. It sounds like you can ALMOST count, but when you try, when you really try, it just seems more and more impossible. I really wish we could know how many bullets are fired off in each of those bursts...
Damn! That sound when the cannon is firing

@@myusername3689 Well, there was this Saab Lansen J32 with 4 Aden cannons.. that rate of fire exceeds anything to my knowledge.

Not so silent, yet still deadly. 🤣
My thought exactly! It has a fart gun. :)

Shorter and quieter cannon firing (farting sound) than the A-10

Around 20
@@CombatantBlog So the Gripen with its 120 round magazine has enough rounds for six strafing passes. Does the gun have a burst limiter?
they stockpiled the ammo for years just for this :D
Please note: video shot at extreme range… tune in next week when the sound arrives…
I like the GIAT-30 better but this is not bad.
de jó lenne tudni, hogy ilyen repülésekre hogyan megy a légtér meg egyéb) engedélyeztetés, meg rep.irányítás.... :)
