Yeah I’ve wondered what sand they use over there, it doesn’t look like green sand, but it has a lovely texture and moulds really well, it’s obviously some kind of molasses or linseed oil based 🤔
@@andrewdean4304 Hi andrew, it definitely looks like molasses,the way it slides down & it has a hard coating when they fettle the casting, greensands not like that, I did make some molasses just to try it & it was ok but & use greensand mostly but when I make plaques with a lot of lettering I use a layer of petrobond on the face as its finer & stronger for the detail & back up with greensand as it's cheap.[happy casting]
Class!! looks like molasses sand,like the way he rolls the sand down instead of just scraping it off will compact it harder,I'll have to try it!!

@@headstocktailstock yeah we mainly use green sand with coal dust as most of the work is iron, and sodium silicate co2 for odd jobs
