Oh, you have made me so homesick. Vilca is where I plan on making my home. I haven't been back for several years and hope to be there by the end of the year permanently. Thank you, thank you, thank you...
I arrived here yesterday. It is really small but beautiful. After quito, otavalo, banos, cuenca and Loja, it feels hot here. But, who can complain when you have two craft beer outfits; zarza and venado del sol. The lady who owns vds (along with her husband) gave me and my tour guide a very gracious and long tour of the brewery. ❤
I miss that bakery!!! Oh and UFO mmmmm. Some good eats in town. Great video. We lived in Vilca for a year and am returning in Oct to spend a few days with a friend. Your video brought back fond memories.
Obviously their linguistics tree is sorely lacking without the inclusion of Australian. Great video. The best one I've seen showing the streets of Vilcabamba.
Very nice video and still shots. I really appreciate your skill at photography. After watching this, it makes me want to check out the area. I’m a little nervous about taking the buses though. I have fears of going off a cliff.
Thanks mate! Yeah man, I hear you. We have experienced some terrifying bus rides at the hands of absolutely crazy drivers. In fact, I just rode multiple busses from Loja to the coast and back and will be putting together a video all about riding busses. Stay tuned for that! I'm so glad you enjoy my photography. Cheers!
Thanks mate! The filter is a rotating filter. You twist it for more or less polarization. It doesn't have to be pointed in the direction of the sun, but it works better at some angles than others. In Minneapolis it was fantastic for removing glare from the fall colors on the trees and revealing the reds and oranges beneath. No digital saturation needed! Thanks for watching!
It takes 40 minutes and it's one of the most scenic bus rides you'll ever take in your life. There's an older video I made about the bus ride. You can still find it on my channel...thanks for the pizza!!
I stayed at Izhcayluma. It was fantastic! I think it was $34 a night for my room. Here's the video i made about it : ua-cam.com/video/rG_px0gwcUc/v-deo.htmlsi=UMM3LzSJ1HbSHcVk
Does anyone know if the restaurants in Ecuador are inspected to make sure they have sanitary cooking conditions and environments? I ask because i saw a video of someone selling different kinds of meat, just lying out in the open, right next to each other, not refrigerated and not covered from bugs or debris. 🥴
There are lots of both. I just chose not to film them. I was looking for interesting things to photograph. I will be putting together a video about the culture of Vilcabamba where I'll talk about what it's like to be there. That's coming soon. Thanks for watching!
@@Alvey_en_EcuadorFriend, I want to know that you can make a video about the elderly people of Vilcabamba, there is someone who is over 100 years old.
It looks like any other Ecuadorian mountain town, only with more colonization. I don’t get what all the fuss is about. They’ve disproven that it’s the valley of longevity, all of Ecuadorian mountain towns have the same age extending qualities. I guess most people feel that there is safety in numbers, but in the case of Vilca, it has caused more animosity towards the colonizers over the past 10 years or so. Seeing as how bad the sidewalks are in Vilca, I’m surprised there’s so many older people who move there.
Pues porque se dice que llegaban a vivir 140 años..y trabajando duro como un joven..y porque está demostrado que sus aguas son medicinales..buenas para el corazón
My great-grandma passed away when she was 99 years old, she lived in Quilanga (in the province of Loja - Ecuador) no so far from Vilcabamba. I don't live in that province but I had the opportunity to visit her and she was an amazing woman, walking by herself, hearing very good and didn't use glasses. It's a quiet little town, and the sidewalk maybe in the same conditions of Vilcabamba.
The amazing thing about Vilcabamba is its diversity of cultures and the long-lived exist, not because they live to be 130 years old, but because they live to be more than 90 years old in perfect health conditions.
Haha, good question! That kind of religious imagery is everywhere here. I'm atheist and at first i thought it would annoy me but the pictures they use are so kitsch it's mostly just funny. Christ has got the wheel! :) Thanks for watching. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing this slice of Vilca. I am watching lots of video on Ecuador now.

You have such a good eye with your photos! What a lovely village, thank you
Thank you! 🧡📷
Great photography. Thanks for taking us on the adventure with you. Looks like a sweet little town.

Thanks mate! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Cheers!
Nicest images of vilca that I’ve seen.
Thanks!

Hi guys..I’ve been going down for 12 years and will be returning in three weeks..Hope to meet you in Loja! David
Hi David, what's the best way to message with you privately so we can set something up? Instagram? Facebook?
How was that Turkish lunch? Looked good.
It was SO good. I love that place. I could eat there every day. Yum!
That’s definitely a two thumbs-up video.
Thanks mate!
Two bucks for a busride to Vilca! Can't beat that! Nice pics. Do you have to turn that polarizing filter towards the direction of the sun?

Where did you start?
Hey Alvey let's have s beer in June in Loja, what do you say? My wife , adult son and I are looking for a rental in the city as well.
Hi mate, aw, I'd love to. I live in Salinas now though I I won't be back in Loja for a while. I hope you enjoy it there. All the best!
They have turkish food there. Nice
How long is the bus ride? Is it a scenic route?
It takes 40 minutes and it's one of the most scenic bus rides you'll ever take in your life. There's an older video I made about the bus ride. You can still find it on my channel...thanks for the pizza!!
I will be traveling to Vilca soon. Just curious which hotel you stayed at and what the rate was?
I just found the review you did...

Vilcabamba isn't the place beyond a very short visit.
Does anyone know if the restaurants in Ecuador are inspected to make sure they have sanitary cooking conditions and environments?

If they do it but obviously sometimes it gets out of control, it is better to avoid Chinese restaurants and certain street stalls. 😊
I think it’s pronounced like “Jessica Biel” Bil-cah-bamba
Where are the locals and expats? No street dogs?
There are lots of both. I just chose not to film them. I was looking for interesting things to photograph. I will be putting together a video about the culture of Vilcabamba where I'll talk about what it's like to be there. That's coming soon. Thanks for watching!
@@Alvey_en_Ecuador Perfect, Iǘe heard stories about the goings on in Vilca, looking forward to your insight.

Why is Christ on the cross on the bus bro?

Most people here is catholic.
Bad choice of music, don't use music with a steady disco-style beat this is a mellow place!
