@@chanellebooysen9570 it is called giving a person the platform to tell their own story without interruption. They are also trying to understand the dynamics in the Latin American region cause they aren't exposed to that environment. Not that they are ignorant of the issues, but because the media has not taken the time to shine the light on the struggles of Afro-Latinas in the Latin-American region. They are well versed with the struggles of black people in in Africa cause it was brought to them by the media.

Black people have been in every part of this plant for HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS. Yes some of our brothers and sisters from the mother continent was kidnapped and brought to other countries but only a few hundred thousand not the hundreds of millions that they have been lying about. So we have to understand that we are the original people of this entire planet and all other shades of people came after. Peace and love to you sis.💜

DJ Envy and Charlemagne treated her so poorly. "why all Dominicans act like Cardi B??" 5 seconds arriving, "what are you??" How can they be so ignorant? Keep asking the same questions over and over shows they were unbothered to even listen to her responses. Two grown ass men, one who wrote a book and both interviewed many entertainers but never heard or can't understand the issues of colorism and beauty standards among women in the entertainment industry. or rather think it is all in her head cause there is a Issa Rae and a Sza (only can name just 2)? Don't understand that there is an American market and a Latino market of music and she is trying to break in the American market to be worldwide. The point was not who is Young Hollywood and that his comments doesn't matter cause he is a nobody. The point was his comments echoes what the entertainment industry as a whole have been telling her and other dark skin Latinas for years. How can it be about if the music is great then it don't matter and then say Cardi B is America's sweetheart when she don't write her own lyrics or mix her own sound and is being carried all the way. What is the difference between Cardi B. and the internet Cash Me Outside girl (Bhad Bhabie)?? Really??? Hell Cardi B. can't even write her own tweets. Light skin ratchness will always win over a poise dark skin female human being is what DJ Envy and Charlemagne was serving in this interview. it was disgusting. I only watched this to see Amara La Negra speak her truth. And she did her thing despite them two assholes talking down to her. Keep doing you, Amara!

Sasha Victoria the majority of white and light skin latino/a think there better then black people. When the earthquake in Haiti hit, these Dominican chicks from my high school were talking sooo much shit about Haitians. Because I was light skin with a long straight weave, they assumed I was Dominican. I stood there and listen to them speak because I wanted to hear the hatred. They said things like the Haitians deserved what they got. The earthquake should of killed all of the Haitians on the island, I don’t know why the Dominicans won’t just kick them off the island and other horrific shit. Me being a light skin Haitian looked at these bitches like they had three heads and told them I was from Haiti. The looked like they seen a ghost and continued to say I’m sorry. I told them no you not sorry, you just sorry that you said some fucked up shit in front of the wrong person and this is just one instance of the disrespect I’ve gotten and I’ve heard with my own ears on how Latino/a feel about black people.

Emilee Gourdet sweetheart they are in high school! But for you to think every light skin person who is Latino thinks that way is ignorant!! I’ve encountered racism from every culture. But i don’t go around saying the MAJORITY just because Of the encounters I’ve had. I don’t know how old you are but I’m 30 and that’s like saying bc i live in a white town all white ppl
Are racist... or bc I’ve been robbed by black ppl that they all steal. That was very wrong and ignorant for them to say.. Just please don’t give in to the hate and continue it. Also Haiti enslaved Dominicans for 22 years as well. There is a lot of back and forth with the country but Dominicans were the first ones in Haiti during the earth quake and the last ones out. So please don’t hate Dominicans just bc you heard ignorant people speak! That’s ludicrous.

      Winston W
      On the Origins of “Dominican”
The first recorded use of the word "Dominican" is found in a letter written by King Phillip IV of Spain in 1625 to the inhabitants of the Spanish colony of Hispaniola. In this letter, which was written before the arrival of French settlers on the Western side of the island, the King congratulates the "Dominicans" for their heroic efforts in defending the territory from an attack by the Dutch fleet. The term or demonym ("gentilicio") "Dominican" was used in reference to the Dominican Order - after their patron Saint Dominic - which had been a key institution and element in shaping the island's post-Columbian religious and civic identity for over a century. This letter can be found today in the "Archivo General de Indias" in Seville, Spain....

Coming up in the 80's I didn't know that Latinos; Cubans, Brazilians, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, etc were dark. I only knew them as light like Rita Moreno, Rosie Perez, Raul Julia, and Ricky Martin or only as dark as Rosario Dawson or Luis Guzman, That was because TV and especially Latin TV only ever shows the white or light actors. But after I met a jet black man from Brazil I did my research and remembered that yes Africans were enslaved in those countries and their descendants were still there and no they had not been bred out.
What he meant was so obvious he was saying straighten your hair. Hide your African

I don't understand why people try so hard to make life complicated. Afrolatino, Africanamerican, etc. She is just black from a latin country period. Just like if you are black American, it's a black person born in the USA or an american of african descent; it's really that simple. I had a dude tell me that I wasn't black, I was just African. That was the most ridiculous thing I've heard and some people who don't know that I am African assume that I am African-american. It's all confusing. First you are black, white, etc then you can claim whatever country or geographical part you want to be associated with, that's it. Of course she can call herself afrolatina which just means that she is a latina of african descent or just a black person from a latin country. I don't see why this is such big news, there are millons of black people in many of the south american countries like Colombia, Ecuador, Brasil, Venezuela , just to name a few.

I rarely comment. Did Charlamagne just ask that woman if being dark skinned and discriminated against is all in her mind? 😐 What. the. entire. hell. Dude, it's not that hard to understand. 👩🏾‍🏫 There are black people in America, there are black people in Latin countries. In the Latin countries and ESPECIALLY in the entertainment industry those black latin people (who call themselves Afro-Latino) are underrepresented. Have you ever watched Latin television? Show me the black people. Matter-o-fact show me the black people from Latin countries prominent in the American entertainment industry. What in the la la land kinda question is that Charlamagne? Especially as a dark-skinned black man ... you think descrimination based on skin color is all in someone's head. 😐 Then he brings up Cardi B. Sir, Cardi is not dark complexioned. That's like a black American saying there are no black superheroes and you ask "What about Gal Gadot?" 😐 Sir. (I keep updating this comment the more I watch) ... did he just ask what about Issa Rae? 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 A thousand 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 s. LA.TIN. Charlamagne. 😐 At this point I think he's faking this. How Sway?

glamazini I agree with you. His comments really come from ignorance. I think that he too should just shut up and be educated before speaking cause he just sounds dumb

glamazini relax. He was not saying it in a rude way. He was confusing The American way of thinking to how the Latin way of thinking is. He kept getting stuck on America not how dark skin latins are treated.

quest 34470 yes I realized that, but really though? It's hard to believe a black man doesn't get it IJS. Like I said I don't comment much but his line of questioning made my brain hurt.
