I have liked this song for years and now that I hear it again I realize this, that God doesn't want holiness from us because He is holy. If we were holy then He died in vain and yet lives in vain. To be holy is to literally be set apart. If we were set apart how then could we be in the world to spread the word of the Lord? How also can we effectively preach the redemption of God when we are "set apart" not feeling the weight of sin? To be in the world is to live in sin. Romans 3:22-24 We were bought for a price by the Lord.

Be holy for i am holy Lev 11,45, 19,2.20,7 etc The book of Romans to not conform to the world. Spiritually speaking we are in the world but not of the world. Just read your bible do a word search on holiness, pray and you will come to an understanding instead of leaning in your own understanding. From my experience as a street evangelist usually when people use this type of reasoning is because they do not want to give up sin. Shalom brother
