How blind are those parents, he was clearly glancing at Ste throughout the vows and he even fully turned his head towards Ste at the end there, lol jeez...some parents man...
I think this is the start of the end for Doug and Ste. Simple, Doug has a problem with lying. He lied to Ste about the money for the deli, to Brendan when he worked for him, to Tony when he got the job at collage cafe, an to his parents about a girlfriend and a kid. Yes it started out as Ste's idea but Doug could have squashed the whole thing and been truthful. Maybe they both need some time apart to see if it is meant to be. Let's see.
One thing I did like about Doug's dad. Its the fact that he knows Douglas so well. The fact is this honest law abiding side of Doug is really all new. The Doug before Steven was anything but honest. The real Doug that we all knew so well as per his screen character was a seasoned liar, thief, con artist, drug dealer and professional charlatan. And as Steven suggested it was more likely that it was Douglas himself who sold Walkers brother those drugs. Brendan never personally sold drugs to anybody, he's just too smart for that. Doug's entire history and track record with his dad has been nothing but a liar and money grasping thief. If it wasn't nailed down he took it. Noah caught him with a bag of drugs, and it was Doug who set Rae up for Brendan. ( Still not sure if Steven knows that. ) Not sure how much Steven knows about Doug seeing that they really never actually hung out. But Steven did know for a fact that Doug was a drug dealer for Brendan. I'm really hoping that if Steven knew that it was Doug who set up Rae he'd have nothing to do with him. But since none of these people are people of any real principles who knows. The real problem with Steven is that what he wont do today, he may do in a heart beat tomorrow. Just like his going along with this stupid deception with Douglas. He knows better then this. But my point is, if you really want to know who the real Douglas is, just ask him father. Just like his father said, there ain't nothing Douglas wont do to get his hands on some cash.
Interesting example of double standards! When Doug said he vows, his mom and dad were so happy and emotional, but of course those words were said from his heart to Ste! would they have been reacting the same if Ste were by his side instead of Leanne?
This storyline was completely ridiculous and I'll never like them as a couple but I did "awww" at the vows and thought "FINALLY" when he spoke the truth. It dragged on for way too long. Now they can fix things btwn them and Leanne can just fade into the background once more.
