Canada! She is the first indigenous woman to hold the title and the first indigenous woman to be a sports illustrated swimsuit model. She is she's also a host, very well spoken. Stunning and a great story to tell!
6:27 This was evident during the 2016 (held in January 2017) edition when one of the Latinas (GUESS WHO!!) displayed such immature behavior during the pre-pageant events. Miss Universe Canada 2016 (MU 2016 top 13 and 9 finalist) did mention this as well in one of her past vlogs that the organization can in fact remove a delegate with bad attitude in spite of her doing well during prelims, hence the phrase "... together with the votes of the Miss Universe organization" is always said just before the top 15 is announced.
5:50 Gal Gadot (aka Wonder Woman) did say that in one of her interviews. She said that she "was always late and often did not wear the prescribed attire during certain events-- all on purpose because she did not want to win".
Imagine our queen can change the whole world..... people suffering the same disability can have a new productive life,we're proud of our QUEEN MIA MISS SA 🙏👏🇿🇦💝💐😘😘
Get this dude off. Speaking English is what gets you ahead in this competition now, not speaking Spanish. And his whole mockery of Mexican culture at the beginning was unnecessary.
35:15 Puerto Rico is not part of the US. It is a non incorporated territory of the US that is why we compete in the Olympics, Miss Universe and other international events. By United Nations definition, Puerto Rico has its own language, culture and identity to be considered a country.
The MU organisation should start doing better. It's not always Latina or from India, automatically. Please may we see some real authenticity - like Miss SA, Mia Le Roux?
Nigeria should have won based on her last two answers. I think Denmark had awful answers and shouldnt been higher than 3rd runner up if not 4th. I only started watching when it was down to the top 20, but feel that the outcome wasn't legit at all.
she has this "i'm too good" vibe. this is my personal observation. I mean there is other pageant commentator who also mentioned about the not-so-good behaviour of DR ever since 2022.......
If you're going to evaluate Miss Universe you have to analyze it from a political and business perspective, it's not really about the prettiest or smartest girl, it's about who's gonna generate more revenue and bring in more business to the company, the people who run the business can't really look at these girls from an emotional frame because in the end it is a business and there are really no specific parameters to guage beauty because beauty is perceptual and interpretative. Why is it political? Well, after you gather a certain amount of country delegates/representatives in one event, automatically you have to look at it from a political perspective, which is one of the reasons why you have to leave religion out of the competition, Anne Jakrajutatip is a very smart woman, and she played well by choosing Nicaragua as her presentation card last year, this was her saying I'm going to pick the girl with the humblest story, whose country is in political crisis and going through a lot of hardship to make it even more compelling, but in the end it's about interests, money, political and business and the fact that this Thai business lady amidst her financial crisis was able to gather 130 countries for the very first time in a beauty pageant, breaking records, goes to show her skills and capacity for business. It's the same like politics, certain people go crazy over it, but it's all staged.
15:44 Sash factor, in its simplest term, means that it is a nation that has a strong contention to place or win because of their popularity, influence, charisma, charm, and even nowadays-- fanbase.
Asking why Puerto Rico, a part of the US, is allowed to compete (35:25), is the same as asking why Hong Kong and Macau are allowed to compete when they are part of China. Other examples are territories of Great Britain: Cayman Islands and Gibraltar.
Exactly, the owners have the last word on who is going to win. It's about time someone from the lesser known countries take the title IF THEY HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY QUALITIES.
I think on the higher placement, there will be, of course, Thailand, Mexico & Venezuela because of the MU owners' country favourites, but let's see if I am right & on the other hands I can see Philippines, , South africa, chilé & india so much potential deserve to be in the top 10 to get a chance to be crown MU 2024
@@swadeshnee6724 In every competition, whether it's beauty pageants or sports or entertainment, there are always complaints about the judges being biased and unfair. Sometimes it is true, sometimes it's not...who the hell knows???
Honestly, the brand is dying because they have got to stop with the 80% Latin , American judging panel every year, and they also have to be more inclusive to the rest of the world.
Okay then Latin Americans can participate in the Americas only Because honestly 80%of the contestants that were my tops were from the Americas 🌎. Regardless Nigeria was beautiful and congratulations to all miss universes .
Bonaire is part of the Netherlands Antilles just a few miles off the coast of Venezuela in the Caribbean sea. Aruba and Curacao are part of the Netherlands Antilles as well.
Bonaire is what is called a “public body” and is governed similarly to a municipality and not a part of any Dutch province. Basically it’s just a city. Curaçao and Aruba are constituent countries in the Kingdom of the Netherlands similar to how Scotland and England are constituent countries in the UK. The Netherlands Antilles dissolved and hasn’t existed since 2010.
PHILIPPINE representative in 73rd MISS UNIVERSE is undeniable why?Her comskills is by far among the best if ever she win I don't think people/fans are agree but if she prove by answering whatever questions coming from any judges I'm 100% sure she can give the best winning answer I know her so well, she always answer those questions thrown to her she always start STRONG and end it more even stronger that you cannot see any whole in her winning answer that's why she ends up the WINNER.
Opal has been my front runner since she won Thailand. Many reasons. At the National competition she said something to the effect of I have unfinished business, after being a runner up a previous year and she was NOT playing. There is a certain type of satisfaction when you become a fan and then just watch the way they execute. The other day when her jewelry and outfit matched the new crown and she was playing the ukulele around a group of the other girls, it was just MORE things that I wasn’t expecting but am absolutely LIVING for. I also love her platform and continued work and just the way she carries herself and represents her country. One thing’s for sure, this is a very tough year.😮
Honestly if they want to expand the brand, they need to have more winners from other countries other than the powerhouses, like in the old days pre 2010s. The current powerhouses' fans will always be there, and they should expand this fanbase more.
Love your energy!!! @6:16 From watching Miss Congeniality movie I always wondered if pageants can do that. @7:15 Yes that was an oopsie. Hello from Canada. Enjoyed the podcast. Nia I am with your husband I have always wondered why Puerto Rico didn’t compete in the USA pageant. But had their own representative. I appreciated the little bit of explanation even though it is a “pageant video”. 😊 I’m hoping our miss Canada does well tonight. I would love to see her reach the top 30. I’m an avid pageant fan of over 50 years. So even though I’m in my senior years I never miss a pageant. I truly thought you won that year at miss universe. And was surprised when you were called first runner up. It makes me so happy to hear how you came to have peace with your placement. Thank you again for your very real conversation. Cheers Raylene from western Canada. 🇨🇦 ❤
Miss Thailand’s soda can pull tab evening gown, of which you have spoken, as a homage to her community and her father was not only creative, but dazzling!
Just saying, ever since Anne managed the organization, Philippines has not placed any significant titles so far. I’m def not supporting this cooking show in a while

OMG YOU SAID GUAM & MICRONESIA!!! 😭😭😭 obviously I’m a huge fan of yours but never would think I’d tune into an episode and you said the island I was born on and the region I’m from. This was awesome!
I understand your perspective. The idea of bringing people together should ideally promote unity and equality. While events like the breakfast for Latina contestants at the Miss Universe pageant aim to celebrate cultural heritage and foster a sense of community, it's important to ensure that such events do not inadvertently create divisions or feelings of exclusion. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s message about segregation and discrimination is a powerful reminder that true equality comes from inclusivity and breaking down barriers. Celebrating diversity while promoting unity can be a delicate balance, but it's essential for fostering a more inclusive and equitable world. If you'd like to discuss this further or explore other topics, I'm here for you!
