Stevie's 66 now and lots of us still care about her! And she recently said something like "when we're 90 and nobody will care" lol. I'm like come on Stevie, we're always going to love you!
Epic interview, thank you. Water under the bridge now, since it's been patched up, but it still blows my mind that Fleetwood did that with Sliver Springs ... Sacrilege.
Oh, this was when Mick pissed her off on the Silver Springs thing because she gave that song to her mom...he didn’t wanna give it up to her because he wanted to put it in a compilation album and have them earn from it. Mick is really bad at handling finances. I think what pissed her off the most was him saying “she can have the song over my dead body”. She wanted her mother to profit from the song directly and Mick stopped that. She felt he messed with her family and that was unacceptable.
The reality is that Buckingham/Nicks needed Fleetwood Mac and Fleetwood Mac needed Buckingham/Nicks. Both were uniquely talented, but both were struggling. I'm so very thankful the timing was right - planets aligned and everything - that they all agreed to be a band on Dec.31, 1974. And the rest, was History like no one could have ever imagined.....
Stevie I found this way late . It doesn’t matter anymore. You escaped the darkness came out a survivor still in 2024! My sober sister Rock chick Queen ! Thanks to you I have found more of my style. I’m in my 60s now am back doing dance and creative writing/ poetry. Of course, never match your magical ways! I’ll always love you. My iconic legend of rock, Rhiannon!
As far as Stevie commenting about how the executives demanded she perform a certain way, etc. - that all stems from Rock a Little. That stems from the fact that Jimmy Iovine continually wanted Stevie to include songs written by other artists on her album, and she refused. He left halfway through the Rock a Little sessions. Then a few years later Other Side of the Mirror was released pretty much against her label's wishes, as she insisted the album release to her own wishes.
it's "interesting" that Stevie Nicks at one time really wasn't gonna be involved in future Fleetwood Mac endeavors all because Mick Fleetwood was being a controlling asshole trying to "deny" Stevie Nicks the right to put Silver Springs on her Timespace album especially given the fact that it was initially supposed to be a part of the Rumours album but was denied because of its length. At this point Stevie Nick's solo career was in full swing and let's be honest she was at a point where she had the luxury to say "bye guys"! catch you later! don't need you like you need me. even Lindsey Buckingham didn't have a solid and successful solo career to do the same. yes Mick Fleetwood made a HUGE MISTAKE by not allowing Nick's to use a song she wrote by the way to be put on her album. when Nick's quit during that time then Christine mcvie too. Lindsey had already jumped ship poor Mick really suffered the downfall. that's what GREED will do to a person. 😎 Peace Ricky Parker.
I can't BELIEVE Mick was so cold to Stevie over her song Silver Springs!!! Think maybe he was jealous because it was about Lindsey? Why else would he be so adamant that it not get the recognition it deserved. Sure he eventually gave in - but man that was cruel.
The Silver Springs thing was not entirely Micks fault. It was licensed by Warner Bros. Stevie's solo work was licensed to Modern (at the time, which I think was an imprint of Atlantic), and such Warner Bros would not grant Modern/Atlantic a license for the song. Even though Stevie wrote it. She wanted Mick, as the "leader" of the band, to go to bat for her in front of the Warner Bros executives, but he refused. So she left them after the Behind the Mask tour.
It wouldn't fit with the material on that album, anyway. It was her "solo" material from the first 10 years of her first album. "Silver Springs" ended up on the FM box set "25 Years The Chain" a year later, anyways. Oh the drama. lol
Stevie was told to sing sometimes it’s a bitch which I liked the song and forced to sing Loves a hard game to play which failed miserably and she gave the executives a big told you so.

Meaning writing a tell all book

@ 1:02 She's in her 60s and we still care!
10/10 quality
The actresses Lonette McKee and Lois Chiles remind me of Stevie in this interview.

MY QUEEN take me with you
She’s pissed off in this interview, no doubt.
Stevie is a bad ass!
Wow. She was really pissed at Mick. That is when he got that other girl...the one on "time"....?
Well obviously Mick redeemed himself along the line..hence The Dance..ect...

its all about money
Lindsey Buckingham has always said "The Sum Is Greater Than The Parts".
