Chantelle Du Preez whats sad that makes red velvet lower in popularity compared to twice and bp is because of their red and velvet side. velvet side suits international community while red suits korean community. unfortunately by doing both, it makes people confused as they cannot peg a certain personality to the group. When we see twice we think cute, when we see BP we think badass, they have a personality. RV doesnt, and that is SM fault that RV isnt doing as well as they could be. SM should just stick with 1 concept for RV and slowly venture into other concepts (like snsd after GEE). RV was doing so well with russian roulette, dumb dumb and icc until they tried OOTN, everything went downhill. Still, i love irene though.

A bit of correction tho. Seulgi has a nasal tone, the same as Yeri. However, Seulgi has a more defined and powerful voice. She has an amazing vibrato and puts a lot of emotion in her voice. She basically has a low to upper range, the same as Wendy, just that Wendy has round tone and a fuller voice as she is a belter.

I'm a really nervous person when it comes to new music, a new game or a new series (a new fandom essentially) so I really didn't want to stan any other groups other than bts but i saw psycho and monster and i realised that these people are really good at versatility and making different kinds of concepts all the time. Basically, monster made me do it lmao. I've had my eyes on seulgi ever since psycho, and I think she's gonna be my ultimate bias. In many ways she resembles tae, my bias from bts but please dont take offense to that.
Wendy _does_ have a very R&B voice... you can hear those characteristics in her voice a lot in the newest song psycho...and she's the best out of the group in using her chest voice, perfectly demonstrated in the clip that was used here of her part in zimzalabim...so much power!
Garret Burrow also one more thing, some reveluvs say that Wendy tends to change her singing voice depending on the song that she sings. For example, she uses her R&B voice in Really Bad Boy whereas she uses her soft voice when she sing Butterflies

This video is so perfect. You can tell that you put so much time and effort into it, and that you’re truly ot5; you care about all the members pretty much equally. Even though I personally as a classically trained vocalist would have chosen different words to describe their voices, you still did a great job! The examples you provided were super great and showcased their versatility with their voices as well as how they’re unique. This video is amazing, I’ve been a Reveluv for more than 2 years so I didn’t need the intro but I’ll definitely be sending this to friends who want to get into them.

To me, what distinguishes each rapping voice: Irene: her rapping sounds savage or the "agressive" kind to me. You don't know what she's saying, but she sounds like she's dissing you. Compared to Yeri, she dominates more. Yeri: Very nasal and soft. Compared to Irene, her rapping is lower (volume wise) and sounds more passive. Joy: Never raps but when she does, you can tell. As someone who has started listening to Red Velvet just a few weeks ago (was just a causal listener and only listened to a few title tracks), and therefore listened to many songs in a short while, I totally agree with Joy having improved a lot. I would’ve never guessed Joy being the lead rapper in the group as she sings more than she raps in the more recent songs. If I am not mistaken, she does have some rap parts in a few songs in the Feel My Rhythm album, but Yeri still has more lines. So, I would also say, the roles have changed due to the fact that Joy has improved a lot. In my opinion, they could totally ditch the rap parts overall because Irene and Yeri have very beautiful singing voices as well. “In My Dreams” shows that. Their songs would still be great without rap parts, there would be nothing lacking and I think that’s not something you can about every group. For me, there are only a handful groups (even less) in which every member can sing and wouldn’t need to rely on rapping. Red Velvet is definitely one of them.

This video is so perfect. You can tell that you put so much time and effort into it, and that you’re truly ot5; you care about all the members pretty much equally. Even though I personally as a classically trained vocalist would have chosen different words to describe their voices, you still did a great job! The examples you provided were super great and showcased their versatility with their voices as well as how they’re unique. This video is amazing, I’ve been a Reveluv for more than 2 years so I didn’t need the intro but I’ll definitely be sending this to friends who want to get into them.

I love that you mentioned that Joy has a sweet, honey-like voice because when I first got into them, I found that Joy had the greatest voice I'd ever heard anywhere and I began referring to her as the "honey vocalist." She's still my favorite vocalist in all of kpop.
To me, what distinguishes each rapping voice:
Irene: her rapping sounds savage or the "agressive" kind to me. You don't know what she's saying, but she sounds like she's dissing you. Compared to Yeri, she dominates more.
Yeri: Very nasal and soft. Compared to Irene, her rapping is lower (volume wise) and sounds more passive.
Joy: Never raps but when she does, you can tell. Her rapping sounds almost like she's talking (if you ever heard her voice on interviews). Her rapping also sounds agressive most of the time, kind of like Irene.

As someone who has started listening to Red Velvet just a few weeks ago (was just a causal listener and only listened to a few title tracks), and therefore listened to many songs in a short while, I totally agree with Joy having improved a lot. I would’ve never guessed Joy being the lead rapper in the group as she sings more than she raps in the more recent songs. If I am not mistaken, she does have some rap parts in a few songs in the Feel My Rhythm album, but Yeri still has more lines. So, I would also say, the roles have changed due to the fact that Joy has improved a lot.
In my opinion, they could totally ditch the rap parts overall because Irene and Yeri have very beautiful singing voices as well. “In My Dreams” shows that. Their songs would still be great without rap parts, there would be nothing lacking and I think that’s not something you can about every group. For me, there are only a handful groups (even less) in which every member can sing and wouldn’t need to rely on rapping. Red Velvet is definitely one of them.
