- A Jewish Columbia University professor who has been a vocal critic of the administration’s response to the ongoing anti-Israel student protests on Monday said he was barred from its main campus.
Israeli-born Shai Davidai, an assistant professor at Columbia Business School and an outspoken supporter of the Jewish state, said when he swiped his key card at the school’s Morningside Heights campus it read “deactivated,” prompting a crowd of pro-Israel protesters to shout “Let him in!” and “Shame!”

@noah2633 sorry but that is a really ignorant way to think for a number of reasons, though we could debate on how much we should care or how involved we get.
Understand that the US is home to about half of world Jewry, and Israel roughly the other half. Israel is the safe zone for Jews, and American Jews, while comfortable here until recently, recognize that if the West were to once again spiral into violent and systematic antisemitism, then Israel is where they can go to be safe. So for Western Jews, this is an extremely personal conflict, as it is for Arabs/Muslims in the West.
Additionally, Israel is on the forefront of what seems like an inevitable world war involving Iran and its proxies around the Muslim world. It’s an important vantage point for the West in this coming conflict, being the only democratic non-Muslim state in the region. Make no mistake, this conflict is not about land, displaced people, or a Palestinian state. It’s about Israel being the first stop on Iran’s way to a global caliphate. That is why Westerners need to care. Please do your research and wake up to the reality.
