All these comments and video in general make me feel less alone, I work in fast food so it definitely is the reason why I'm struggling with a winged scapula. I was told it was a rare condition. And it makes me feel more relieved to know others are struggling as well as on a path of recovery.
@@stopthecap4317 I must have came across an unreliable source, it said it was but thank you for informing me. I'm very petite and always have been. Still struggling with the pain and it's been 8 months. trying new things though I just need patience with all of this.

Really happy to have found this to-the-point set of movements! I was feeling discouraged after some of the other winged scapula videos out there just weren't easy to follow, but this is just what I needed, thanks!
Hey Brian, you're the only person in these comments mentioning snapping scapula (in addition to winging) - did you manage to fix your snapping scapula? And if so, could you let me know how? I am getting absolutely nowhere with trying to fix mine. Thank you To Dr Jo, do you have any video or advice for snapping scapula that differs from this plan for winged scap? Thank you
You have no idea the relief I had, today I trained my back for the first time and it’s really saw, I’ve watched most of your videos and they really help with saw muscles.
I just did my first two stretches and BOOM my pain eases pretty quickly. Still feel it a tiny bit but it’s a tiny knot now. I suffer from scapular winging too. Man imma do this now 4 days a week. Thank Doc!
I just subscribed cause this video really helped with a pain I'be been having for months! I would love to have this video in real time to use it in my daily routine.

I normally don’t even comment on youtube but doing some of those ONCE already helped me alleviate so much of my pain and make it easier to keep my posture right, thank you so much, I’m going to do them daily from now on.
I’ve had this condition for years it’s very painful. I decided to do some research and came across your site. It was a lightbulb moment.i am doing the exercises twice a day to begin. It all makes sense. Thank you for your time I’m very grateful.
Great! I've had a winging R scapula for years, but now am experiencing some shoulder impingement on that side, so need to get serious about addressing underlying weaknesses! Thanks for these very do-able suggestions!
I’ve had a winged scapula for over a decade. I thought I took care of it on my own using only the door frame stretch and it wasn’t visibly noticeable anymore. However, one day I noticed a pause and a click in my shoulder while doing chest presses. I came across this video and realized a lot more muscles were involved. After multiple stretches a day for three days, I felt just a little more relief, but it still felt out of place. In the middle of the third day, I went to the chest stretch and felt my entire scapula slide back into place. Soreness came after that, especially the next day, and I’m working on strengthening and stretching more before even thinking about doing weights again. Thank you so much for this video!
Best exercises i learnt since 4 years of struggle! Can't believe no physiotherapist showed it to me so far...thanks so much! ❤ just regained hope for getting better thanks to you!

In quarantine and working at kitchen table - not ergonomic. Started having bad scapula pain - telemedicine and even a in person visit - muscle relaxers and meds - nothing helped. Desperate- I searched UA-cam and found this video. Stretch at 3:30 helped more than anything. Kept doing it. Few days later and I feel 95% better. THANK YOU.

The broom stick stretch (although I did it without the broom stick), combined with stretching my neck in the opposite direction to the shoulder being stretched, plus the rubber band bear hug completely removed my scapula stiffness over night - literally! Many thanks indeed. Now back to weight-lifting without any impingement!.

Woah! Thanks for all those free and actually great tips, stretches and exercises! I love the lats stretching, I had quite a hard time feeling them and with this it's just perfect, and I like the bear hug exercises and the prying shoulder stretch! I enjoyed the pedagogy too! @@AskDoctorJo hi doctor jo . I have scapular winging on only my left side due to repeatedly using my arm to prop up my head while lying down . Do you think any particular muscle may have been hurt because of this? Also should I continue my regular pushups? Thanks
😯 Thanks so much for doing this video one rep of the touch shoulder-move head towards knee move almost instantly made the agonizing pain I've had for 1.5 weeks get better. 🥰
I’m 14, I’ve had winged scapula on both sides since birth. I don’t know if these exercises will fix it because I do competitive gymnastics and that hasn’t helped at all. Do you think these exercises will help?
I am 15 years old . I do calisthenics 6 days a week about 2 years. I have scapula alata in my left side. I fixed my right side with these moves but my left side winging . I don't know why.
I wonder if this also addresses crunching sound in right scapula. I have exhausted all my resources of getting rid of shoulder impingement and crunching in right scapula so may try these out. I have gone to doctors, physical therapists, and a chiropractor with no results. You were the one who got rid of my elbow tendinitis with some stretches I did consistently. So thank you for that, Dr. Jo.
You're welcome. I'm glad some of my videos have helped. It really depends on what the crunching sound is, so unfortunately, I don't know if it will help since I can't evaluate you. As long as you are cleared to do stretches and exercises, it might be worth trying.
Wow, congrats Dr Jo!! I've seen over a dozen vids on winged scapula and this is by far the best I have seen so you've certainly earned my subscription with this video Most vids show the same 3-4 stretches and I was unable to do any of them. This vid shows exercises I've never seen before and I should be able to do all of them. Huge thanks!!
Thank you for a clear, easy to understand set that incorporates the anatomy & physiology in an off-hand manner that sinks right into our confused brains. As a person of "a certain age," I've had it up to here with rotator cuff tears.
i never knew i had this until i’ve been recently experiencing a lot of pain in this area , so i came across this video because dc Jo’s videos always help, and way to find out i have winged scapula . hopefully this helps to ease the pain and to get rid of it , cause i’ve never liked the way my back looked from it so :’)
Those stretches are AMAZING! My blades are "normal" but i can wing them at will, either one at a time, or both together...it hasn't affected my function...it sounds like mine is a very Mild winged scapula problem. I Just Subscribed....thank you for your interest!

How’s it working?
@@wilkincaseres4769 I’ve been slacking but I’ve been doing it everyday , I did all the stretches for 2 times , and the exercises for 3 sets , haven’t seen any progress because I just started , will update in case I see anything changing
Such an effective workout! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much! This is very helpful each of every exercise! God bless you for sharing 🙏
You're welcome, and thanks!
Woah! Thanks for all those free and actually great tips, stretches and exercises! I love the lats stretching, I had quite a hard time feeling them and with this it's just perfect, and I like the bear hug exercises and the prying shoulder stretch! I enjoyed the pedagogy too! Keep up ma'am you're doing a great job!
You're welcome, and thanks!
@@AskDoctorJo hi doctor jo . I have scapular winging on only my left side due to repeatedly using my arm to prop up my head while lying down . Do you think any particular muscle may have been hurt because of this? Also should I continue my regular pushups?
Thanks
Great video
Thanks!
😯 Thanks so much for doing this video one rep of the touch shoulder-move head towards knee move almost instantly made the agonizing pain I've had for 1.5 weeks get better. 🥰
You're welcome.
i appreciate your work!
Thank you! Forever it seemed unexplainable
You're welcome!
Thank You So Very Much!! Brilliant!! 😊🍀🌟🧡🙏
You’re welcome!
I’m 14, I’ve had winged scapula on both sides since birth. I don’t know if these exercises will fix it because I do competitive gymnastics and that hasn’t helped at all. Do you think these exercises will help?
I was a competitive gymnast for 13 years and I have two winged scapulas, anterior pelvic tilt, and arthritis...
I am 15 years old . I do calisthenics 6 days a week about 2 years. I have scapula alata in my left side. I fixed my right side with these moves but my left side winging . I don't know why.
@@hayvantv4210 how u fix right side I have only right side winging
@@04-ankursonawane23 I did scapular push ups with two arms. But only my right fixed. This is strange.
Thank you Doc Jo❤️❤️❤️❤️
You're welcome.
Thanks, and you're welcome!
Both mine are winged, I'm 13 and was never injured. If I follow these every day, how long do you think it will take?
Same
@@thenewchrispaul5465 woah me too
I was born with it
Hey did you do the exercises ? Did it change anything ?
@@shawnjames3242 yes! I don't do the full exercise though. It's gone down quite a bit. I started last month.
It’s hard to do the first stretch because it’s hard for me to lift my arms that far without it hurting
Thank you for a clear, easy to understand set that incorporates the anatomy & physiology in an off-hand manner that sinks right into our confused brains. You have harnessed you intelligence to help your fellow humans. Bravo! As a kid, I thought my "wings" meant I was a hawk. As a person of "a certain age," I've had it up to here with rotator cuff tears.
You're welcome, and thanks. Good luck!
Amazing the exercises are so good. Thanks for the exercises dr
You're welcome.
i never knew i had this until i’ve been recently experiencing a lot of pain in this area , so i came across this video because dc Jo’s videos always help, and way to find out i have winged scapula . hopefully this helps to ease the pain and to get rid of it , cause i’ve never liked the way my back looked from it so :’)
I hope they help!
How its going?
@@dirpy637 a bit better , i haven’t been listening for a few days but i’ll get back to it
@@anonuser92838 nice to hear! I am also starting to do these exercises from today
@@dirpy637 goodluck !! :)
Thank You veri much , positive energy to You , have a goed day
You're welcome, and thanks.
Those stretches are AMAZING! My blades are "normal" but i can wing them at will, either one at a time, or both together...it hasn't affected my function...it sounds like mine is a very Mild winged scapula problem. I Just Subscribed....thank you for your interest!
Thanks, and you're welcome!
