Kassandra is an exact wonder woman character, kind and fearless. Alexios is more a warrior type, he really has a vibe of a mercenary who live an outcast life and know how to show who is the boss when in trouble.
@RyMann88 They didn't. They chose Kassandra as the canon for the novel (that most wont even read to begin with) as a compromise because Alexios was one the marketed and promoted on the actual game, cover and in the game's marketing.
A little late on your comment, but this is actually due to the fact that the voice actors were not given the context of dialogue during the recording! They were just given the lines and told to improvise the delivery depending on what they thought fit best. I think, keeping that in mind, they did a pretty decent job for what they had to work with.
For me, between alexios and Kassandra they both have the same script and story but in different timelines when their both mercenaries and Deimos aswell. IMAO!
After watching this (not played it yet myself tho) and reading a lot of comments I feel like this is the whole difference: Kassandra is more professional, diplomatic, more natural. Alexios is more emotional, clumsy and therefore funny
If people actually judged alexios after the 20 hour mark, you'll realise that he's quite fucking likable, especially in the deep parts of the story. The voice actor even said he was highly inspired by ezio. Give em a chance, he's awesome.

Alexios is like dead pool he is sarcastic and badass a real mercenary type of character but he’s badass and serious when he needs to be, playing as him makes the game more silly and funny. Kassandra is more realistic, natural and her voice actor is fantastic. Plus she is the perfect spartan woman, gorgeous as she is skilled and badass. Both characters are awesome
@LuckyFubber. what you said was incredibly wrong. The amount of women who ever participated in combat aside from protecting their home in the event of barbarian raids is staggeringly few. Women in Sparta were not trained as warriors, but did focus on athletics training hence why women in Sparta were among the only in the Greek city states to participate in athletic competitions. Shield-maidens are not a proven fact and perhaps are just saga myths. The debate on whether or not they were a common enough occurrence to even warrant a title is still up for debate.
To me her dialogue is quite boring and lacks emotion in her voice compared to Alexios. I could tell right away with the first few scenes that Alexios had more personality and plus he's quite hilarious. I love that part. I'm pretty sure being comically sarcastic was part of survival among mercenaries during that time.

I know a lot of people prefer playing Kassandra over Alexios, but personnaly he is the one I found the most touching and emotional, he will always be my favorite.
I used to be part of a Forum known as "InsideTwoWorlds" for the similarly named game, and I believe the user "UnKnOwN" was known for saying, "I'd rather stare at a Woman's bum than a Man's when I'm running."
Personally, I prefer playing as Kassandra and I like her voice acting but alexios did just as a great job as her! So basically I think they’re both great!
Alexios is kinda goofy and doesn’t take himself too seriously. He likes to joke around a lot but can on occasions be forced to act more aggressive. Kassandra is a self-assured, calm woman who seems more morally principled. Both are great in my opinion.
I feel like people who are calling Alexios’s voice terrible are over compensating because they didn’t want a male player character to share the spotlight with Kassandra. Because his voice is perfectly fine. I’ve heard terrible voice acting in games and his is not terrible by any stretch. If you want to play Kassandra then by all means, but don’t shit on a perfectly good voice actor to make her seem better by comparison. It’s dumb.
God why can't people just not like his voice? Why does it have to be "People dont want a male character to share the spotlight..." I literally picked her cause his voice is annoying. No other reason. I dont even like playing as female but she seems more real in terms of voice acting and animations.
He just has an annoying sounding voice, it sound cheesy and he kinda lacks emotion, everything he says sound like he's acting, not like a natural voice. I don't think it has much to do with feminism or whatever, he just sounds annoying so they go with Kassandra

Chase Carter because of how insistent people are that Kassandra is so much more better when she’s not. I found the same exact problem with Kassandra but I don’t shout to the rooftops how much better Alexios is like how everyone does with Kassandra. It’s an overcompensation that people use to feel valid when there’s nothing wrong with Alexios
Wow i love Alexios voice. also plus he is also handsome, Kassandra voice is great to. she is like Warrior, like lara Croft from Tomb Raider. this is one of my favorite games.
Kassandra always reminded me about wonder woman and I love it. That's why I can't play alexios. Mainly because I just think the voice actress does a better job than alexios voice actor
I've started playing this game and I hate having to choose between the two, so I have 2 separate save files for both characters. I'm enjoying this game more than Valhalla.
They both do a good job, but the script can be awkward at times. Maybe the problem is that actors whose characters are conversing did not record their lines together. The "rapport" is off. All in all I prefer Alexios, primarily because a light hearted, roguish personality is according to my taste in a game like this.
I wonder why Kassandra should be the main character. As far as i know there were no female spartans, a male fits better for that. Its okay being able to play as female but then with a better fitting background story. I think the same about Valhalla. Why dont they make an AC about the maid of orleans? That would be great.
There were female Spartans but we have no record of them ever participating in war. It was likely that they were combat trained to help protect the homestead. Same with Viking women(although we do have evidence they traveled). But we must also remember AC at this point has pretty heavy sci fi /fantasy elements so it’s not entirely historically accurate when it comes to roles
Old comment but let's not forget that Kassandra is no longer a part of Spartan society. When we meet her she's been living on her own for most of her life with no need to fit into any social norms.

It feels like a sort of betrayal, or being toyed with, knowing that everything I did, everything I experienced, saw through, and heard as Alexis was a lie. 🤦🏾♂️😔 For context: The developers never wanted Alexios to be an MC, it was going to be only Kassandra, but the idiots thought that a female lead protagonist wouldn’t do well. So they came up with an either-or method that actually worked and made sense. But reconned EVERYTHING we did say and cried for as Alexios in the Valhalla DLC. Because instead of keeping the story/thing that worked they decided to go back and make Kassandra the only MC. I don’t care who the MC was, I care that I was lied to and abandoned because of laziness and cowards. That my experience as Alexios didn’t/doesn’t matter. 😔😔 Especially when I personally think Alexios’a VA did a better job as the MC and Kassandra’s VA did better as the Cult Captured Sibling.
there's a trend where the male protagonist sounds like a video game character, while the female protagonist sounds totally flawless, natural and believable. another example recently was V in Cyberpunk. seems like they always direct the male voice actor to sound more manly and badass when it's totally unnecessary
When the rogue said” that’s for last week” he sounded scarily like Cesare Borgia. And between the two. I like them both, they both have their upsides and downsides. Kassandra sounds a lot more quiet and serious while Alexios sounds more loud and energetic. Basically I think Alexios sounds better whenever there is a scene where their supposed to be angry but Kassassandra is better for the more serious moments. Only Alexios can say Malaka though.

In my first original play through I played as Alexios because to me it made more sense, yeah at times he was corny but he still gave me a warrior type of feel.. since I never beat the game(data was deleted) I am playing my second play through as kassandra and so far she does has a much better feel... but I don’t mind either or
I finished the game with Alexios, and then I learnt that the game was made to be played as Kassandra...I still don't regret it, I loved Alexios and will probably play the game again with him as the lead character.
Both voice actors are really good. They're supposed to be Greek and have greek accents where it doesn't really translate that well in English because Greek and English are very different. People who say the voice acting is bad have no idea what they're talking about.

HeyIamNick by assassins creed they have botched quite a bit of its legacy. But it’s new style is great but they should’ve been realistic as that place and time had no female Spartans it’s illogical and I’m not afraid to play a female I’ve been playing Lara Croft since i was younger.

I'm a simple woman, if I see a female protagonist in a video game, I choose her xD There are already many games where you can only play as a male, so I appreciate the opportunity to choose, even if it's not "historically accurate". It's a fantasy video game after all, not a history lesson
What you tried to express has no logic at all. The game takes place in Ancient Greece, telling the Peloponnesian War between Sparta, Athens, Persian. The game world is formed by thousands of philosophers, including Socrates, among others, apart from the cultural enrichment. Then you come to tell me that the game does not follow a cultural line?
I think Alexios’ is better all around. As the Misthios and Deimos. IMO I think the voice acting was better in every way and in every scene. Kassandras voice actor did a phenomenal job, I just think Alexios’ did better in every way. That’s just my opinion though
Playing Kass first run kind of damaged my view on Alex, but I have to say, Alex fits the bill better. He fits a hero role better than a villain. Kass makes a great hero, but she fits Deimos better. She was more damaged, and confused, and emotional. Alex as Deimos was just an angry drywall puncher.

Kassandra being this baby who was abandoned and groomed into a Demon like warrior, fractured and confused, she legit scared me because as a woman, she seemed so devastatingly strong and powerful. Her evil expressions especially when she kills that Greek leader looks like a lioness devouring her prey while snarling. Alexios has too much of a hero vibe to be a villain.
I think kassandra has much more character and personality even though they have the same lines it’s wonders what voice acting can do to change the whole entire vibe of a game

true, I personally prefer playing female character over male since I like looking at girls' bum, in Syndicate I spent most time as Evie but I chose Alexios over Kassandra on this one, don't get me wrong her voice acting was great and I also like the idea of her character, but her body seems to belong to a dude and on a lot of occasions it makes more sense if she was a dude like how NPC converse with her, treat her, her actions like how she squat under a tree never seen a woman do that or how she crosses her arms and bumps on Markos. heck her biceps are bigger then female NPCs head when I stand close enough and I was like wtf? I started a second gameplay last week as Kassandra this time and I found it odd playing as her. I mean a girl raised and trained to be a warrior by her father who also has a younger son in Ancient Sparta. Really? It didn't make a sense to me at all. She is not bad but Alexios as a male is simply more fitting to this era. Kassandra seemed better for stealth and she was calmer and more thoughtful, Alexios on the other hand is quick tempered, sarcastic and funny which I enjoyed more. I probably won't finnish the game with Kassandra ever because I started as Alexios again yesterday 😆
Actually in Sparta women were taught to fight and were well educated by the state in the effort to raise better, well informed soldiers. So it does make sense but both do great jobs playing the character, so it's all preference
True Spartans were all male and the strength and technique was their key. However, I couldn't play as Alexio because of his body language which was very feminine. Plus Kassandra is sexy.
I'm not sure why, but Kassandra seems to fit the role of the main character a bit better than Alexios. Maybe its the dialogue and how they say it. I will say though, Kassandra as Deimos is terrifying while Alexios as Deimos is less so and feels a little more like a spoiled kid with anger issues given a ton of control. Just something about their tone of voice and the way they say things creates that perception in my mind.

I am about to start this for the first time - Legendary Edition I think. I just cannot play as a female and I have always felt weird or creepy in other games during so. I heard a lot of gripes about the male characters' voice acting and I think it's doable from this video. It's hammy, but I like cheesy movies and dubbed movies. I kinda like that he seems a little thick. I'm just going to pretend he's Kurt Russell's character in Big Trouble in Little China!! 🤪
I can't decide. Alexios feels like he fits in the conversations and his mocap works for him but his voice acting, while not bad, sounds like he is in a cartoon. Kassandra voice sounds more natural but she doesn't seem like she fits in the conversation for some reason. Her mocap is clearly Alexios's so she kinda looks awkward sometimes. This is a weird one.
Who should I play with? I feel like Kassandra’s voice acting is quite a bit better. But I read a lot of positive comments about Alexios. I prefer Kassandra in the first 2. Mostly prefer Alexios in number 3 tho. More intimidating for the scene. Still doubting haha

Yes it is true, but maybe because we are too used to sexism in dialogues, or men being gentlemen with the fairer sex. All the dialogues in the game were built thinking of Alexios, then you switch him with a Woman and you finally see how correct it all sounds. The story will be about a mercenary that happens to be a woman, not about a woman that happens to be a mercenary. I love the game for this reason, just as much as i love Mass Effect
I highly doubt that just on the basis of simple probability. Are you seriously telling me that in the long period of Ancient Greece no woman ever picked up a sword? Throughout the entirety of human history there were always people not caring about established social norms.
I'm like 80hours into the game as Alexios and i swear if i was playing as kassandra i would have restart the game just to play Alexios, she does a better role as Deimos than Alexios, and he fits more to the adventure type protagonist

*Alexios* imho, far better, because of voice acting! Yes! He is a big burly spartan warrior, an athletic giant at that, his voice thick with accent and choppy, but that's the point! It fits the persona perfectly, and creates a great contrast when the character shows a gentler side, when he cares for his friends, finds his family, that contrast makes it all the more impactful. You can close your eyes and recognise *Alexios* in an instant. Meanwhile *Kassandra* sounds just like every other NPC. Generic. I dare you to open a random YT video with character's conversing among other female characters, 'close your eyes' and 'see' for yourselves. That's why she works better as a villain, the only few moments when she shines, is the cult meetings where she steps in shoes of the demigoddess the cult makes her out to be, when she get's angry, it works for her.
Idk what you're smoking but her voice acting is far better than Alexio'ls. The voice acting of alexios sounds like a generic NPC you are meant to help. His voice comes off flat throughout the game. In moments of real emotional scenes the acting throws me off the gameplay and character. Kassandra's sounds natural and comes off more as the natural protagonist.
@@onatone Finished the game twice, Kassandra's voice is generic, Alexios's you can distinguish with your eyes shut. The voice actress is skilled, and she can act, but only as a villain she gets enough interesting lines to play with, where you can hear anger and malice. Kassandra protagonist is one of the blandest voice works I've heard in years, basically sounds like stock Mass Effect NPC that nags you as you walk down the corridor on citadel station.

Alexios is more believable as the male dominated Ancient Greek context demands but also Kassandra is not that completely unbelievable as she is somekind of Artemisia type of Spartan originated women, a mercenary. Moreover Alexios felt a bit cheesy and exaggerated for me. I prefer Kassandra's voice in general.
All the kassandra hype train, Alexios seems more firm and tough “better when sarcastic” than her IMO also I’d rather a more of a spartan experience in this than an assassin experience, kassandra seems more for that part tbh

It is a game in which the real main character is definitely Alexios. I can prove it, listen carefully. Even though Ubisoft declared Kassandra a cannon character, it is obvious that they did this later to annoy the SJWs, to silence them, so to speak. I'll explain why now, but if you haven't played the family-themed odyssey episode, spoilers below. ~ 1) Even the cover art of the game has Alexios. This is not a decision made lightly, they could have at least put both of them.. but they chose Alexios. 2) There was no such thing as a female warrior at that time. One chance in a billion. Somehow, no one finds this situation strange. are you serious bro? In thousands of main and side missions, no one says "who are you, a woman carrying a sword?" Everyone is in "oh mercenary, welcome, late, sit down" mode. If the main character was Kassandra, don't you think our 'enemies' would at least point this out to us once? Would we be taken that seriously as someone with an unknown body? Wouldn't we be woman shaming every second we breathe? However, look how nice it would be, we would break the perception of weak women in that age, we would make everyone who belittled us because of our gender vomit blood by hitting them with a sledgehammer... everything would be much more consistent. But no, instead we were made fools with a single sentence. 3) For the reason I mentioned above, Kassandra is 100% Deimos. In case of Deimos, all the pieces fall into place. I'm serious. Everything suddenly becomes coherent. why then? Thanks to bloodline. In other words, he is respected and believed to be chosen due to his blood ties from his ancestors. This is the only and most logical explanation for her ability to be promoted in the cult despite being a woman. Also, I can't help but mention, look at how perfectly the Demios armor fits Kassandra's body. They didn't even bother with Alexios, his outfit looks disproportionate and weird. 4) look at the characters we can make love with. As you know, ancient times... sexual orientations are very colorful. However, when we look at the characters we have a dating option with, you may have noticed that all of the male ones are extremely feminine. There are no lesbian types among women, and most of them are traditional types. The sex options were created entirely for Alexios. 5) You remember the fake eagle bareer episode. There was a man who went to a town and tried to disguise himself as us, convincing everyone that he was 'us'. I say man yes. Male. Now let's assume that we are playing with Kassandra. This gender difference is not mentioned in any of the dialogues we have with the townspeople. Wouldn't they say, "Wasn't the eagle guy a man? You are a woman"? In short, no matter where you hold it, it stays in your hand. 6) Stepfather, that is, Nikolaos is a man who is very devoted to Spartan traditions. In Sparta, women do not fight, and men are trained to fight under brutal conditions from childhood. How can a man who is devoted to his culture to the end give his girl a traditional Spartan boy education? Moreover, in Kassandra's flashbacks, her hair is not even shaved. There is a very deep history underlying that shaved head and those bald heads. You can research. I guess they didn't find it worth the hassle.
Is there anyone who picked Alexios because of historical accuracy? Female mercenary is such a rarity in ancient Greece, I still don't understand why there were so many female bandits and pirates in Odyssey
I like Alexios more since his personality is a sarcastic shithead, and I can vibe with that. Plus the introduction scene with Deimos is better with Kassandra as she can really play up the evil
Since my PS broke down in 2010 and my computer couldn't run new games, this was my first AC game. Now I have 1, 2, Brotherhood and Unity in my Steam library... planning to buy more soon
I started this game today and I wanted to see kassandras side as well but I'm seeing that a lot of people don't like alexios for some reason. Personally he reminds me a lot of ezio from 2 and brotherhood
I prefer Alexios over Kassandra because Kassandra fits that OTHER role way better (hint hint spoilers) and all Spartans I knew were men soooooooooo.....

She is a self-trained warrior OF Sparta, not a spartan. even though Kassandra is a woman and most Ancient Greek women stayed home does not mean ALL women did. Cyrane, Artemisia, Eurydice of Macedon were some of many (but few) women who participated in battle. Also, Spartan women were also trained in battle as they were seen as the last line of defence if Sparta should fall
Playing AC odessey, I realize that Alexios's facial expression and speech is more authentic for a Greek mercenary. I don't know why people love Kassandra. Ok, her VA is excellent but doesn't match with her facial expressions.
I feel like they threw in Kassandra at the last moment, and just hired a great voice actor for her to try and cover up their lazy face animations. In the game when I played as Kassandra I even stumbled upon a few unfinished cutscenes.
I prefer Kassandra because her voice acting is simply better....her facials aren't terrible but what she's lacking in facials she's making up with her voice...Meanwhile Alexios often sounds either monotone or as if he's kinda overacting....well in the end it doesn't really matter, Kassandra is the official CANON protagonist and Alexios isn't.

I chose Kassandra because she made a better impression on me and oh boy, i wasn't wrong. Besides, (spoiler warning) Alexios makes a much better Deimos. The moment i saw him in that role i was sold.
Eh I think Alexios fits the role better. Also I’m surprised they said kassandra was the cannon character. They mostly used alexios in the trailers and art. To me it just seems that they designed the game after alexios.
I know this was 3 years ago but yeah they designed the game for Alexios. They took a pole and saw people preferred Kassandra and changed it after the fact. It doesn't make sense to have the male lead be in all the promotional stuff and say "No the female lead was canon all along". As a woman I call bs.
@@nienneelendil6582 They knew the demographic they were trying to convince at the time, if you had seen the outrage online at simply the existence of Kassandra and the queer romance options in the game you'd understand why at the time they chose to market the game with the generic strong guy main character, it was simply much more palatable to a large chunk of the playerbase. :/ Targeted advertising also promoted the game with Kassandra in the images and footage to individuals that were likely to respond well to it.
This comment was 4 yrs ago but I agree, woman mc in ac Odyssey main gameplay make no sense at all unless she is a great assassin and a demigod for story context. The stories make more sense to play with Alexios as it is a mercenary based and a warrior battle plane. Even the DLC legacy of the first blade started to make no sense to play as Kassandra when we reach ep3. For Atlantis DLC, it suit Kassandra more for me since demigod here make Kassandra looks more divine while having mercenary brute life. Alexios kinda looks goofy in that DLC. But for gameplay wise, Kassandra is a badass character and I like other great women characters in the game like Aspasia and Myrrine. They're both born to a leader even though for Aspasia, she lost control of it when Deimos enter the cult. Daphne of daughter of Artemis also have a unique charm, strong physical build but soft aura make it somehow sexy and attractive. Kassandra dialog tone and voice are really great but Alexios gave a different vibe and more grounded. We know that most male gamers love to play as a women. Me too😂 but for odyssey all round, I prefer Alexios.
Am I the only one who thinks Alexios acting is way better than Kassandra? Kassandra’s lines just come off so bland Alexios feels like he puts way more into the delivery.
I like Alexios better. He is very likable. He would also offer to help a woman carry a large object that is too heavy for her and say, “My services aren’t free, you know.”
Idk who’s better and it’s really complicating the game for me. Origins was unique where you played as mainly a male protagonist who was also a family man and a father. Amazing story. This one seems a little divided though considering more people chose Alexios with more fans being male and possibly being able to relate to a male more being a badass spartan in the game. But the game makes sense also why Kassandra is technically “canon” considering you can’t block and have to dodge more and be tactical. And how in some assassinations you clearly go for the enemies balls lol

Kassandra is an exact wonder woman character, kind and fearless. Alexios is more a warrior type, he really has a vibe of a mercenary who live an outcast life and know how to show who is the boss when in trouble.
Makes you wonder why they really choose Kassandra as the canon character (as per the official novel).

A little late on your comment, but this is actually due to the fact that the voice actors were not given the context of dialogue during the recording! They were just given the lines and told to improvise the delivery depending on what they thought fit best. I think, keeping that in mind, they did a pretty decent job for what they had to work with.

If people actually judged alexios after the 20 hour mark, you'll realise that he's quite fucking likable, especially in the deep parts of the story. The voice actor even said he was highly inspired by ezio. Give em a chance, he's awesome.

Alexios is like dead pool he is sarcastic and badass a real mercenary type of character but he’s badass and serious when he needs to be, playing as him makes the game more silly and funny. Kassandra is more realistic, natural and her voice actor is fantastic. Plus she is the perfect spartan woman, gorgeous as she is skilled and badass. Both characters are awesome

@LuckyFubber. what you said was incredibly wrong. The amount of women who ever participated in combat aside from protecting their home in the event of barbarian raids is staggeringly few. Women in Sparta were not trained as warriors, but did focus on athletics training hence why women in Sparta were among the only in the Greek city states to participate in athletic competitions. Shield-maidens are not a proven fact and perhaps are just saga myths. The debate on whether or not they were a common enough occurrence to even warrant a title is still up for debate.

I could tell right away with the first few scenes that Alexios had more personality and plus he's quite hilarious. I love that part. I'm pretty sure being comically sarcastic was part of survival among mercenaries during that time.

Alexios is kinda goofy and doesn’t take himself too seriously. He likes to joke around a lot but can on occasions be forced to act more aggressive. Kassandra is a self-assured, calm woman who seems more morally principled. Both are great in my opinion.

Kassandra always reminded me about wonder woman and I love it. That's why I can't play alexios. Mainly because I just think the voice actress does a better job than alexios voice actor
I've started playing this game and I hate having to choose between the two, so I have 2 separate save files for both characters. I'm enjoying this game more than Valhalla.
They both do a good job, but the script can be awkward at times. Maybe the problem is that actors whose characters are conversing did not record their lines together. The "rapport" is off. All in all I prefer Alexios, primarily because a light hearted, roguish personality is according to my taste in a game like this.
I wonder why Kassandra should be the main character. As far as i know there were no female spartans, a male fits better for that. Its okay being able to play as female but then with a better fitting background story. I think the same about Valhalla. Why dont they make an AC about the maid of orleans? That would be great.
There were female Spartans but we have no record of them ever participating in war. It was likely that they were combat trained to help protect the homestead. Same with Viking women(although we do have evidence they traveled).
But we must also remember AC at this point has pretty heavy sci fi /fantasy elements so it’s not entirely historically accurate when it comes to roles

For context:
The developers never wanted Alexios to be an MC, it was going to be only Kassandra, but the idiots thought that a female lead protagonist wouldn’t do well. So they came up with an either-or method that actually worked and made sense. But reconned EVERYTHING we did say and cried for as Alexios in the Valhalla DLC. Because instead of keeping the story/thing that worked they decided to go back and make Kassandra the only MC.
I don’t care who the MC was, I care that I was lied to and abandoned because of laziness and cowards. That my experience as Alexios didn’t/doesn’t matter. 😔😔 Especially when I personally think Alexios’a VA did a better job as the MC and Kassandra’s VA did better as the Cult Captured Sibling.

Kassandra sounds a lot more quiet and serious while Alexios sounds more loud and energetic. Basically I think Alexios sounds better whenever there is a scene where their supposed to be angry but Kassassandra is better for the more serious moments.

In my first original play through I played as Alexios because to me it made more sense, yeah at times he was corny but he still gave me a warrior type of feel.. since I never beat the game(data was deleted) I am playing my second play through as kassandra and so far she does has a much better feel... but I don’t mind either or
I finished the game with Alexios, and then I learnt that the game was made to be played as Kassandra...I still don't regret it, I loved Alexios and will probably play the game again with him as the lead character.

HeyIamNick by assassins creed they have botched quite a bit of its legacy. But it’s new style is great but they should’ve been realistic as that place and time had no female Spartans it’s illogical and I’m not afraid to play a female I’ve been playing Lara Croft since i was younger.

Kassandra being this baby who was abandoned and groomed into a Demon like warrior, fractured and confused, she legit scared me because as a woman, she seemed so devastatingly strong and powerful. Her evil expressions especially when she kills that Greek leader looks like a lioness devouring her prey while snarling. Alexios has too much of a hero vibe to be a villain.
I think kassandra has much more character and personality even though they have the same lines it’s wonders what voice acting can do to change the whole entire vibe of a game

I started a second gameplay last week as Kassandra this time and I found it odd playing as her. I mean a girl raised and trained to be a warrior by her father who also has a younger son in Ancient Sparta. Really? It didn't make a sense to me at all. She is not bad but Alexios as a male is simply more fitting to this era. Kassandra seemed better for stealth and she was calmer and more thoughtful, Alexios on the other hand is quick tempered, sarcastic and funny which I enjoyed more. I probably won't finnish the game with Kassandra ever because I started as Alexios again yesterday 😆
Actually in Sparta women were taught to fight and were well educated by the state in the effort to raise better, well informed soldiers. So it does make sense but both do great jobs playing the character, so it's all preference
True Spartans were all male and the strength and technique was their key. However, I couldn't play as Alexio because of his body language which was very feminine. Plus Kassandra is sexy.

I'm not sure why, but Kassandra seems to fit the role of the main character a bit better than Alexios. Maybe its the dialogue and how they say it. I will say though, Kassandra as Deimos is terrifying while Alexios as Deimos is less so and feels a little more like a spoiled kid with anger issues given a ton of control. Just something about their tone of voice and the way they say things creates that perception in my mind.

Yes it is true, but maybe because we are too used to sexism in dialogues, or men being gentlemen with the fairer sex. All the dialogues in the game were built thinking of Alexios, then you switch him with a Woman and you finally see how correct it all sounds. The story will be about a mercenary that happens to be a woman, not about a woman that happens to be a mercenary. I love the game for this reason, just as much as i love Mass Effect

*Alexios* imho, far better, because of voice acting! Yes! He is a big burly spartan warrior, an athletic giant at that, his voice thick with accent and choppy, but that's the point! It fits the persona perfectly, and creates a great contrast when the character shows a gentler side, when he cares for his friends, finds his family, that contrast makes it all the more impactful.
You can close your eyes and recognise *Alexios* in an instant. Meanwhile *Kassandra* sounds just like every other NPC. Generic. I dare you to open a random YT video with character's conversing among other female characters, 'close your eyes' and 'see' for yourselves. That's why she works better as a villain, the only few moments when she shines, is the cult meetings where she steps in shoes of the demigoddess the cult makes her out to be, when she get's angry, it works for her.
I actually agree with this. I like the siblings either way, but when Kassandra is being Deimos and being bloodthirsty, she really shines.
Idk what you're smoking but her voice acting is far better than Alexio'ls. The voice acting of alexios sounds like a generic NPC you are meant to help. His voice comes off flat throughout the game. In moments of real emotional scenes the acting throws me off the gameplay and character. Kassandra's sounds natural and comes off more as the natural protagonist.
@@onatone Finished the game twice, Kassandra's voice is generic, Alexios's you can distinguish with your eyes shut. The voice actress is skilled, and she can act, but only as a villain she gets enough interesting lines to play with, where you can hear anger and malice. Kassandra protagonist is one of the blandest voice works I've heard in years, basically sounds like stock Mass Effect NPC that nags you as you walk down the corridor on citadel station.

Alexios is more believable as the male dominated Ancient Greek context demands but also Kassandra is not that completely unbelievable as she is somekind of Artemisia type of Spartan originated women, a mercenary. Moreover Alexios felt a bit cheesy and exaggerated for me. I prefer Kassandra's voice in general.
Now seeing Kassandras performance for the 1st time. Not seeing anything that screams "better". They both do well to me.

All the kassandra hype train, Alexios seems more firm and tough “better when sarcastic” than her IMO also I’d rather a more of a spartan experience in this than an assassin experience, kassandra seems more for that part tbh
I mean, its Assassin's Creed. Its supposed to be with assasin techniques. But I see where you're going. Alexious gives more of a historical experience but Kassandra gives a more of a "Assassin's Creed" experience.
I agree completely. Kassandra's dialogue lacks emotions and she's way too boring for the role of a mercenary surviving during those tough times. Alexios comes off as way more realistic to me and plus he's hilarious which I love.

I wish I could have a playthrough with Kassandra as the Mithios and Deimos. The VA of Alexios feels so inauthentic.
It is a game in which the real main character is definitely Alexios.
I can prove it, listen carefully.
Even though Ubisoft declared Kassandra a cannon character, it is obvious that they did this later to annoy the SJWs, to silence them, so to speak. I'll explain why now, but if you haven't played the family-themed odyssey episode, spoilers below.

1) Even the cover art of the game has Alexios. This is not a decision made lightly, they could have at least put both of them.. but they chose Alexios.
2) There was no such thing as a female warrior at that time. One chance in a billion. Somehow, no one finds this situation strange. are you serious bro? In thousands of main and side missions, no one says "who are you, a woman carrying a sword?" Everyone is in "oh mercenary, welcome, late, sit down" mode. If the main character was Kassandra, don't you think our 'enemies' would at least point this out to us once? Would we be taken that seriously as someone with an unknown body? Wouldn't we be woman shaming every second we breathe? However, look how nice it would be, we would break the perception of weak women in that age, we would make everyone who belittled us because of our gender vomit blood by hitting them with a sledgehammer... everything would be much more consistent. But no, instead we were made fools with a single sentence.
3) For the reason I mentioned above, Kassandra is 100% Deimos. In case of Deimos, all the pieces fall into place. I'm serious. Everything suddenly becomes coherent. why then? Thanks to bloodline. In other words, he is respected and believed to be chosen due to his blood ties from his ancestors. This is the only and most logical explanation for her ability to be promoted in the cult despite being a woman. Also, I can't help but mention, look at how perfectly the Demios armor fits Kassandra's body. They didn't even bother with Alexios, his outfit looks disproportionate and weird.
4) look at the characters we can make love with. As you know, ancient times... sexual orientations are very colorful. However, when we look at the characters we have a dating option with, you may have noticed that all of the male ones are extremely feminine. There are no lesbian types among women, and most of them are traditional types. The sex options were created entirely for Alexios.
5) You remember the fake eagle bareer episode. There was a man who went to a town and tried to disguise himself as us, convincing everyone that he was 'us'. I say man yes. Male. Now let's assume that we are playing with Kassandra. This gender difference is not mentioned in any of the dialogues we have with the townspeople. Wouldn't they say, "Wasn't the eagle guy a man? You are a woman"? In short, no matter where you hold it, it stays in your hand.
6) Stepfather, that is, Nikolaos is a man who is very devoted to Spartan traditions. In Sparta, women do not fight, and men are trained to fight under brutal conditions from childhood. How can a man who is devoted to his culture to the end give his girl a traditional Spartan boy education? Moreover, in Kassandra's flashbacks, her hair is not even shaved. There is a very deep history underlying that shaved head and those bald heads. You can research. I guess they didn't find it worth the hassle.

Is there anyone who picked Alexios because of historical accuracy? Female mercenary is such a rarity in ancient Greece, I still don't understand why there were so many female bandits and pirates in Odyssey
My headcanon is that Assassin's Creed takes place in an alternate history that is less patriarchal than ours.
I like Alexios more since his personality is a sarcastic shithead, and I can vibe with that. Plus the introduction scene with Deimos is better with Kassandra as she can really play up the evil
Since my PS broke down in 2010 and my computer couldn't run new games, this was my first AC game. Now I have 1, 2, Brotherhood and Unity in my Steam library... planning to buy more soon
I started this game today and I wanted to see kassandras side as well but I'm seeing that a lot of people don't like alexios for some reason. Personally he reminds me a lot of ezio from 2 and brotherhood

She is a self-trained warrior OF Sparta, not a spartan. even though Kassandra is a woman and most Ancient Greek women stayed home does not mean ALL women did. Cyrane, Artemisia, Eurydice of Macedon were some of many (but few) women who participated in battle. Also, Spartan women were also trained in battle as they were seen as the last line of defence if Sparta should fall
Playing AC odessey, I realize that Alexios's facial expression and speech is more authentic for a Greek mercenary.

I feel like they threw in Kassandra at the last moment, and just hired a great voice actor for her to try and cover up their lazy face animations. In the game when I played as Kassandra I even stumbled upon a few unfinished cutscenes.

I prefer Kassandra because her voice acting is simply better....her facials aren't terrible but what she's lacking in facials she's making up with her voice...Meanwhile Alexios often sounds either monotone or as if he's kinda overacting....well in the end it doesn't really matter, Kassandra is the official CANON protagonist and Alexios isn't.
HeyIamNick she’s not the official canon protagonist as it doesn’t make sense to have two if that was the case, she’s only canon to the novels, which is mostly separate from the games

Kassandra is 10x better as the protagonist imo. And Alexios feels more of the mercenary your made out to be in the game.
I chose Kassandra because she made a better impression on me and oh boy, i wasn't wrong. Besides, (spoiler warning) Alexios makes a much better Deimos. The moment i saw him in that role i was sold.
If you consider biology then Kassandra is perfect for the role.

Eh I think Alexios fits the role better. Also I’m surprised they said kassandra was the cannon character. They mostly used alexios in the trailers and art. To me it just seems that they designed the game after alexios.
I know this was 3 years ago but yeah they designed the game for Alexios. They took a pole and saw people preferred Kassandra and changed it after the fact.
It doesn't make sense to have the male lead be in all the promotional stuff and say "No the female lead was canon all along".

@@nienneelendil6582 They knew the demographic they were trying to convince at the time, if you had seen the outrage online at simply the existence of Kassandra and the queer romance options in the game you'd understand why at the time they chose to market the game with the generic strong guy main character, it was simply much more palatable to a large chunk of the playerbase. :/ Targeted advertising also promoted the game with Kassandra in the images and footage to individuals that were likely to respond well to it.
This comment was 4 yrs ago but I agree, woman mc in ac Odyssey main gameplay make no sense at all unless she is a great assassin and a demigod for story context. The stories make more sense to play with Alexios as it is a mercenary based and a warrior battle plane. Even the DLC legacy of the first blade started to make no sense to play as Kassandra when we reach ep3. For Atlantis DLC, it suit Kassandra more for me since demigod here make Kassandra looks more divine while having mercenary brute life. Alexios kinda looks goofy in that DLC. But for gameplay wise, Kassandra is a badass character and I like other great women characters in the game like Aspasia and Myrrine. They're both born to a leader even though for Aspasia, she lost control of it when Deimos enter the cult. Daphne of daughter of Artemis also have a unique charm, strong physical build but soft aura make it somehow sexy and attractive. Kassandra dialog tone and voice are really great but Alexios gave a different vibe and more grounded. We know that most male gamers love to play as a women. Me too😂 but for odyssey all round, I prefer Alexios.

Idk who’s better and it’s really complicating the game for me. Origins was unique where you played as mainly a male protagonist who was also a family man and a father. Amazing story. This one seems a little divided though considering more people chose Alexios with more fans being male and possibly being able to relate to a male more being a badass spartan in the game. But the game makes sense also why Kassandra is technically “canon” considering you can’t block and have to dodge more and be tactical. And how in some assassinations you clearly go for the enemies balls lol
I’m confused how the inability to block (which u can by the way xD u parry attacks when u block hits correctly) and that you have to dodge….mean that Kassandra makes more sense??
