Mmm. Let's see. It shows a broken zipper and way to fix it. I think it did what it said it would. The bonus is that you now know what it is you will be looking for to fix this type of zip boo boo. Stop your gripping.
Ad or no ad, I came looking for a simple solution that didn’t involve unstitching the whole thing by machine or damaging the zipper, and that’s exactly what I got.
Give the guy a break, he's an entrepreneur, if he designed this product so be it. I still learned something. Now I going to try to tighten my slider with a pair of pliers.
Dave, you're a genius, just a gentle squeeze with pliers on the top/bottom of the zipper worked instantly. And to think I've been throwing stuff out when the zipper broke all these years....
I had a Disney Loungefly bag that became unusable because the zippers on both ends would not close the teeth. I managed to use pliers for one zipper and that helped it move/zip but not all the way to the other side. The other zipper broke completely after a few attempts to tighten/loosen with pliers. After finding this product, I ordered it, and installed it in seconds on the other side of the bag, and now the bag is usable again. It would have been incredibly difficult to replace the whole zipper tape. And this limited edition bag is hard to find without paying almost twice it's original price. This replacement zipper is the best invention ever. If I had known about it sooner, I would have saved myself a lot of calluses on my fingers from the many attempts to fix it myself with pliers. Thank you so much!
Genius! Does it only work on separating zippers? I run an online sewing school teaching people how to make dance and skate costumes. These costumes usually have invisible plastic zipper, not metal separating zippers like your demo. Thanks! Teresa
It needs tension! Thanks. I’ll try to fix that with pliers, if it doesn’t work I’ll buy this product. Better than replace my fave jacket or even the whole zíper (I sew so I know how much work replacing zipers involves)
Wow...I have a zipper emergency right now! Thanks for sharing your awesome advice! I am going to see if I can find this amazing creation in my city!😎🙄🌻
Sorry I missed this comment/questions. We have a video on our channel for removing the old slider. In the video it was still attached, just slid to the end so it was out of the way.
That's definitely one way to repair a zipper, and it works some of time. You can only do that so many times before it stops working though. And a lot of our customers buy the product because that fix stopped working.
@@FixnZip My bag used an incredibly thick metal and required so much strength to pinch, and then I, in overzealous attempt, overdid it. And when I tried to pry it open a little, the whole thing split in half. So, in this case, the pliers trick was not useful. I'm glad I found this video. I just purchased the zipper. I hope it works. It's a Disney bag, and it would not be easy to replace the zipper or the bag.

@@FixnZip IT TOTALLY FIXED IT!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I wish I could attach a picture of the broken zipper (and the calluses on my fingers from having tried to fix it with the pliers) and the new FixitZipper that took only seconds to install.
Some people want to understand the problem before they get a solution. Some want us to jump straight to the solution. It's hard to please everyone (for real, not being sarcastic).
I bought a brand new dress & the zipper got stuck & opened, so frustrating! I would want to fix it! I don’t know if I should replace the whole thing or do something similar to this...
Wow I always wanted to know the cause of zipper splitting, very informative, great video, anyone who does not like this vid can kiss it where the sun don't shine
The zipper on one of my favorite skirts broke exactly like that, but I think it's because I've gained weight and now the skirt is actually too small now... fixing the zipper/ replacing the zipper and continuing to wear it anyway was one of the options I was considering, but I think the issue will just happen again if I don't find a way to adjust the size of the skirt. (Maybe I'll try frankensteining it with another skirt which has a too small waistband, but has gathers that can be let out..?)
All you need is a hammer - I fixed my zipper in 10 seconds. The problem is that the bottom of the slider, where both sides of the zipper are supposed to come out 'zipped' together, is too wide and is not aligning both sides properly. All you have to do is to narrow it slightly - I used a hammer and smashed in nicely, twice. Works like new!!!
Hey if you could make the screw less bulky this would be perfect for my zipper bras that have started coming undone. I would love to save them since they are my favorite and this seems like it would work but the screw would be extremely noticeable while wearing it
Replace the zipper track for a loose slider!? Replace a slider? Nope. The zipper track or slider are replaced when they're f-ed. More often than not a zipper not zipping needs only a clamping down on the OEM slider with pliers. No moolah, no fuss.
Yep. Use a small pair of pliers (pref. needlenose) to *gently* recompress the slider onto the track. I pinch down on each side of the hook for the zipper pull. Msg me if you need more clarity.
Very cool because yes, this problem with zippers is very common. I like it. Where can I get a fixnzip. Oh ok, I see you have a website and I am sure I can get one from there. Do any stores sell them in Canada?
Yes - that is the main question. I presume he omits to show that part on every video as it is a b@stard to get off. I started using a dremel to cut it off, and it melted the zip plastic flange! So stopped that, and easiest way was to take a hacksaw and saw down the line of the zipper and the little nose section is quite small. Cut half way, and then bashed it with a chisel and hammer and it fell off.
Got the Fixnzip installed, and it hasn't solved my problem. Shame. I think my zip teeth and the bottom alignment are screwed. New jacket needed then {sob}
alright mr fix and zip, ive figured out that my problem isnt the zipper thingy itself but my problem is that the little cube thing at the bottom of the zipper is missing, do you have some magic product to fix that aswell? bc if you do id like to buy one
This MAY be just what I'm looking for, but I need to find out the zipper SIZE before I buy one. Do they come in different sizes? It's for a nice Columbia winter jacket. Cheers d00d! (=
Hi , I bought one medium size for my jacket size 7 zipper. didn't work! Zipper seems to be in good condition... followed your instructions... very bummed!... any suggestions?????????
How do I fix one that still zips, but the zipper part that pulls up and down is broken completely off? I have some good sweaters I don't want to get rid of and I also wondering if I need to remove it, and if so, how?
My issue is that the zipper works fine. But if I happen to put pressure on the now closed zipper, it comes apart. Constantly. So I don't think adjusting or replacing the zipper itself will fix that? The teeth must be worn out or something because they zip right up, then when wearing the coat, it will suddenly come apart....
I bought the fiznzip but cannot get it to engage the teeth of the nylon zipper. I have tried using pliers but to no avail. Its a delicate zipper on a pillow case.
