I think the main issue with making a 40K movie is that it'd need to be a violent R-rated, big budget sci-fi film. Not sure many studios would want to touch that. I also imagine you'd always be fucked. Your core audience isn't big enough to guarantee financial success and it is so dedicated that any mistake or "misinterpretation" of the lore would be slaughtered by the fans.
This exactly. For example ghost in the shell, hardcore fans went crazy cause they couldnt understand the mature compromises a company has to make to produce such a film.
Actually that's one of the HUGE advantages of the 40k lore. There literally (and deliberately) isn't a set cannon, it's all legend and myth. And because of this, a film studio could do whatever they want with the I.P. and not ruin the lore, just add to it. :)
40k wouldn't work well with movies by design - The lore is far too dense to fit in a few hours of screentime even if it's a trilogy. A proper 40k animated series is an untapped goldmine considering animation allows for things otherwise extremely expensive or hard to portray in live action like crazy fight scenes and effects, fully realized portrayals of planets and the warp, and longer combined screentime whilst still looking pretty. Too bad GW completely shit the bed with Warhammer+.
Spot on. For me, a WH 40k movie has to be incredibly dark and violent. No compromises. People getting butchered, unspeakable cruelty etc... I'd want to come out of the cinema depressed - that way you know the film has been made correctly.

I think the original Hebrew vocalization of the Tetragrammaton has been lost because it came about in a time where the Hebrew language was fundamentally different (many aspects of it have been lost) and they viewed saying or writing God's true name in all but the most important situations as being so blasphemous that they refrained from it. Because of this, the knowledge of how to pronounce God's name has been lost to time. We only got a couple teasers around 5-10min long, before the neckbeard community bullied the guy into quitting, because they "didn't like how grimdark it was." But yea, the videos he did make cover a bit of "Know No Fear" with the burning of Monarchia, and a bit of the destruction of Calth. Not sure what book thats in because I'm not far enough into the HH books yet.

Resetting everything because the choice of a single being, would be like throwing out all tomato sauce because of some insects in it (the industry has a tolerance of how much of insects, mouse fur, etc, it can contain and still be good to consumption). It's not the best example, but it is easy to understand. If you continue reading Genesis, you will discover that, despite God not resetting the world, He purged it one time (Noah story), to make a fresh start.
There actually was an ancient belief that actually was based on this. That our world was not created by a benolevent and good god but actually by an evil and vile god that wanted everyone in it to suffer. The other one was the good god who well didn't create this world. Kinda like a reversed Christian idea. Which well ... might have been one of the reasons why Christians killed them.
Neat little detail at 1:05 in the background of the modern car in flames. Despite this taking place 40,000 years in the future, there actually were some worlds within the imperium that still used more...contemporary technology. They were byproducts of a lot of technological fragmentation due to the dark age of technology and never really caught up. Some were seeded worlds and developed really slow.
Doesn't really make sense tbh, given how even below average planets in WH40K range in the 10 to 11 digits in terms of population and considering how inefficient cars are. It couldn't be a very urban planet at all.

Most of the rest are world of relatively low population density and low technological level, often resembling modern Earth.

I always love how Visceral and Raw Death of Hope is, it perfectly showcases how violent Astartes vs Astartes combat would be, plus knowing it's set on the Horus Heresy gives off this feeling that since it's just the beginning they haven't figured out the nuance of chaos warfare so they're just going in there guns blazing with hyperviolent tactics to win.

A world was brought into compliance by the Word Bearers is being attacked by the Ultramarines (which the locals dub "False Angels"). When a woman that lives on said world sees the destruction brought upon by the Ultramarines she contemplates god and concludes: "God was real, and he hated us". The attack on the city was so bright (explosions and shit), the woman was blinded by the light of its destruction.

Because this is what a god does. It makes you kneel before them as all you made with your own hands burns around you just because it didn't like it. THIS is religion." Space marine armor is from golden age, chief's armor is simply inferior, just purely from technical standpoint. From what I know only STC was able to actually shit on marine armor in such a manner, and Cortana is definitely not an STC, not even close. I like Chief as well, but I'm objective about this. Chief would get his shit pushed in by a marine without armor or weapons. Great to hear. I was worried he gave up. Mark has always been my favourite 40k animator. Astarties may be technically superior. But Marks work has more depth, and touches complex themes.

She speaks over the scene of the Word Bearers being forced into genuflection in the ashes of the city. The details make the story.
Word Bearers after embracing Chaos are definitely one of my favourite Legions. Their sheer unthinking zealotry and absolute devotion to the Ruinous Powers is terrifying. Chaos Space Marines as a whole are definitely one of the most sinister antagonistic factions in all of fiction. Whether it is inexorable and caustic Death Guard, the sheer glee at causing pain and terror the Night Lords display or the unfeeling and uncaring machine nature of the Iron Warriors, the Heretic Astartes are the faction I’d least want to find myself facing in battle.

His word was misinterpreted, and I feel like if he made his presence among his people more common, instead of (during his time before the golden throne) sitting under lock down and only coming out when necessary, the imperium would not look to him as a god, and more as a man like them, but then again, it’s the belief that the emperor is a god that gives the loyalist the motivation to fight for him, and I believe it’s that loyalty that makes them so strong.

The people on that world were loyal and the governments established were effective. The worlds were taken with minimal destruction to lives and resources and with a generally good moral about the Imperium. Now, compare this "Slow" progress that He seemed to resent so much, to the quick "Successes" of others. Angron left worlds looking like it just went through a meat grinder. Perturabo broke the worlds he conquered. Mortarion turned them into a radioactive shit hole. And Konrad...Jesus Christ, if Emps that Lorgar's relatively benign practices of worship were "Harming the Imperium" the sheer level of horror and hatred towards the Imperium Konrad inspired should've given Him a heart (hearts?) attack. This is what i like about the 40k universe, it is a modern greek tragedy! Lorgar is probably the primarch who loves the Emperor the most, but his love is rejected in the harshest of ways, and his love turns to hate and a devotion to the ruinous powers. The Emperor is incredibly powerful, but he is still just a human, deeply flawed as are we all. Horus is a loving figure, wise, charismatic, powerful, but through treachery he becomes everything he once would have stood against.
I really like the 30-millennium armors, purely industrialised, knightly and steampunk. The current ones felt too common, especially the helmet design. Regardless of how many chapters, they have the same looks but different palettes.

Yes they are. The Chaos Gods are formed, sustained and gain power through the psychic/magical power of corresponding negative thoughts, emotions and actions of humans. Khorne is hate/anger/war Nurgle is plague/decay/waste Tzeench is scheming/betrayal/political power Slaanesh is desire/debauchery/sexual violence Because the Fantasy/Age of Sigmar setting is much smaller and contains far less people than the 40k universe the Chaos Gods are less powerful as there's less negative emotions, thoughts and actions to give them power. @@bobberhd9655 Hard to give a specific answer, especially about emotion, but the best way I can describe the Horned Rat is with comparing him to Nurgle, as they both cherish plague and decay; Nurgle, for one, sees the plagues he bears upon his "children" as gifts. The Horned Rat, however, sees it as a weapon. He is essentially Rat Satan, as he's pretty much each of the Chaos God's worst aspects. And who's to say he's not already in 40k? I mean, the End Times have shown both universes to be connected somehow. im completely new to the W40k universe because i was never a fan of board games or big clunky armors but seeing this video alone gave me a whole new view of how brutal and somewhat satanic about the whole universe. Id get the feeling that all these guys in these huge hulkbuster armor are invincible but then i see them fall like leaves and some killing innocents,ripping heads or crawling for their life and the gore and the Aztec war horn music going on adds that much more to the horror, death doesnt seem to bad in most things ive seen but seeing these huge men whimper and die like its nothing makes me see that they dont wanna die at all because even dead bodies are stomped upon and disrespected
The kicker is that what you saw in the video are events of a brutal civil war that spanned years, pitting space marines against each other. Soldiers bred for war in humanity’s name now find themselves fighting those they once called brothers. Before it was unthinkable that space marines would ever point their blades at each other so they never bothered to learn how. You can see hints of desperation as they think of ways to kill their brothers. They were never made to fight each other so the brutality is extra due to not knowing the most effective way to kill fellow marines.

Because at that point humanity was basically all united now and the only remaining enemies before the dark gods of chaos kicked off a bunch more problems were alien species. There was no reason to think of space marines rebelling at all because of how loyal they were. It’s actually explored in one of the novels where a space marine is punished for strategizing ways to kill other space marines in a hypothetical scenario. They called him insane and he was basically put on house arrest. In a twist of irony, this took place right as the betrayal was taking place and they called him back to duty because they needed his thinking. (Without spoiling he basically becomes well-respected in the war effort after that)

Bowden is a Master in humanizing the antagonists. I absolutly fell in love with the CSM because of "Talon of Horus", "Black Legion" and "The First Heretic". Absolute master of the "bad guys".
I really love these 40k cinematics I wish there was a whole move series I've looked into them and most of what I find are just clips that people have made themselves or have taken from other films that I don't yet know of

A full length Warhammer 40k movie would be near impossible... The budget would be too huge for it to be good. It needs to be R-rated which will minimize sales, not to mention its target audience would be the worst kind, hard core dedicated which will destroy the movie if theres any inconsistency to the lore. TLDR, it would cost too much and the audience would be too small to justify the cost and anything wrong in the script would be dismantled by the fans.
Somehow this was my first experience with Warhammer about two years ago and I had no idea what was going on. I was actually theorizing on what was happening and on if there was a larger story because I didn’t know it was warhammer. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out it wasn’t a oneshot and actually a big ass story
If anyone is looking for comtext as to whats happening here then i got you! This is showcasing 2 very important moments in warhammer 30k during the start of the horus heresy. Before the heresy started the word bearers (seen in gray) have an almost perfect and peaceful city of monarchia completely destroyed by the emperor of mankind AND the ultramarines. He does this because it was a city devoted to worshipping the emperor as a god. The emperor told the word bearers to stop spreading worship of him and this was their punishment. The emperor uses his psychic powers to force the entire legion to kneel before their perfect destroyed city the ash still freshly falling from monarchia being wiped off the planet. All were trembling due to the psychic assault on their minds but also at this time the word bearers were very kind and tender souls that really cared for the worlds they claimed and spent a lot of time improving the lives of the people living there. Many were weeping and in disbelief. This act Festered a great hatred for not just the emperor but the ultramarines as well. After this the word bears find the dark gods and begin worshiping them and binding demons to their elite warriors. Now at the start of the heresy horus is in control of EVERY legion because he is warmaster appointed by the emperor himself. When Horus and the others turn traitor they dont do it openly as to have as many suprise attacks as possible. Horus tells the ultramarines that a large amount of orks have been spotted around ultramar and to help "mend relations" he send the word beares to help them but in reality its an ambush. About half of the ultramarines legion and The word bearers (now painted red as they are "reborn") muster at calth one of the ultramarines planet. The word bearers basically surprise attack the ultramarines, you see in the video there are clips where the ultramarines are in complete SHOCK astartes on astartes (space Marines) combat has NEVER happened outside of training at this point. The wordbearers kill 119,422 Ultramarines with a further 28,392 rendered combat-incapable, amd 40,000 Ultramarines forced to remain on Calth to fight the remaining word beares. The word bearers then wage war acceoss the 500 worlds of ultramar and are later joined by thr world eaters in their assault. The word bearers become a very brutal unforgiving legion killing anyone that stands in their way
I think the main issue with making a 40K movie is that it'd need to be a violent R-rated, big budget sci-fi film. Not sure many studios would want to touch that. I also imagine you'd always be fucked. Your core audience isn't big enough to guarantee financial success and it is so dedicated that any mistake or "misinterpretation" of the lore would be slaughtered by the fans.
This exactly. For example ghost in the shell, hardcore fans went crazy cause they couldnt understand the mature compromises a company has to make to produce such a film.
Actually that's one of the HUGE advantages of the 40k lore. There literally (and deliberately) isn't a set cannon, it's all legend and myth. And because of this, a film studio could do whatever they want with the I.P. and not ruin the lore, just add to it. :)
40k wouldn't work well with movies by design - The lore is far too dense to fit in a few hours of screentime even if it's a trilogy. A proper 40k animated series is an untapped goldmine considering animation allows for things otherwise extremely expensive or hard to portray in live action like crazy fight scenes and effects, fully realized portrayals of planets and the warp, and longer combined screentime whilst still looking pretty. Too bad GW completely shit the bed with Warhammer+.

We only got a couple teasers around 5-10min long, before the neckbeard community bullied the guy into quitting, because they "didn't like how grimdark it was." But yea, the videos he did make cover a bit of "Know No Fear" with the burning of Monarchia, and a bit of the destruction of Calth. Not sure what book thats in because I'm not far enough into the HH books yet.

Neat little detail at 1:05 in the background of the modern car in flames. Despite this taking place 40,000 years in the future, there actually were some worlds within the imperium that still used more...contemporary technology. They were byproducts of a lot of technological fragmentation due to the dark age of technology and never really caught up. Some were seeded worlds and developed really slow.
Doesn't really make sense tbh, given how even below average planets in WH40K range in the 10 to 11 digits in terms of population and considering how inefficient cars are. It couldn't be a very urban planet at all.

I always love how Visceral and Raw Death of Hope is, it perfectly showcases how violent Astartes vs Astartes combat would be, plus knowing it's set on the Horus Heresy gives off this feeling that since it's just the beginning they haven't figured out the nuance of chaos warfare so they're just going in there guns blazing with hyperviolent tactics to win.

Space marine armor is from golden age, chief's armor is simply inferior, just purely from technical standpoint. Chief would get his shit pushed in by a marine without armor or weapons. Let alone in power armor and fully armed.(and if they would the psychers it would get even worse for Chief)

It's where the title comes from, Cyrene Valation speaking on the destruction of Monarchia in 'The First Heretic'. The scene is from the opening of one of the 'Death of Hope' trailers [number 2]. She speaks over the scene of the Word Bearers being forced into genuflection in the ashes of the city. The details make the story.

Word Bearers after embracing Chaos are definitely one of my favourite Legions. Their sheer unthinking zealotry and absolute devotion to the Ruinous Powers is terrifying. Chaos Space Marines as a whole are definitely one of the most sinister antagonistic factions in all of fiction. Whether it is inexorable and caustic Death Guard, the sheer glee at causing pain and terror the Night Lords display or the unfeeling and uncaring machine nature of the Iron Warriors, the Heretic Astartes are the faction I’d least want to find myself facing in battle.

His word was misinterpreted, and I feel like if he made his presence among his people more common, instead of (during his time before the golden throne) sitting under lock down and only coming out when necessary, the imperium would not look to him as a god, and more as a man like them, but then again, it’s the belief that the emperor is a god that gives the loyalist the motivation to fight for him, and I believe it’s that loyalty that makes them so strong.

And so, if The Emperor did not want Lorgar to see Him as a God, he made Him his Devil.
The Emperor was mad at Lorgar because he had a huge army(nr2) but was mega slow to conquer, if you contribute positively, you are welcome to worship him as a god, The Omnissiah to the Cult Mechanicus is the Emperor, and it is something he himself hinted he is, to bring Mars into the empire.

Yes, Lorgar's progress was slow. But it was EFFECTIVE. The people on that world were loyal and the governments established were effective. The worlds were taken with minimal destruction to lives and resources and with a generally good moral about the Imperium.
Now, compare this "Slow" progress that He seemed to resent so much, to the quick "Successes" of others. Angron left worlds looking like it just went through a meat grinder. Perturabo broke the worlds he conquered. Mortarion turned them into a radioactive shit hole. And Konrad...Jesus Christ, if Emps that Lorgar's relatively benign practices of worship were "Harming the Imperium" the sheer level of horror and hatred towards the Imperium Konrad inspired should've given Him a heart (hearts?) attack.
Maybe The Emperor did rationalize His reasoning for chastising Lorgar, out of all His sons, for his (Relatively) slow pace, but even if that is what He believes, it's still poor reasoning.
And yes, I am aware He chastised Angron but it was so weak compared to Lorgar who not only committed a far lesser crime, but had good intentions. Angron was deliberately sabotaging the Imperial dream by throwing a massive tantrum and ruining his legion, butchering worlds and just souring the whole notion of the Imperium entirely. Did Emps make Him bow? Did He get involved personally to reprimand Him? Did He make it clear that this was to stop, right now?
No. He sent word, through someone else, to tell Angron to stop his antics. Angron, told Him to Fuck off and die. Emps proceeded to shut up and pull a "This is fine."
My point being, if Emps did reason that slow pace was reason enough for such an over the top dressing down of a loyal legion and son, but the madness of other legions were just "Growing pains", then I guess Lorgar really was wrong. Emps clearly isn't some infallible God. He's a man, capable of making massive Fuck ups in decision making just like the rest of us XD

This is what i like about the 40k universe, it is a modern greek tragedy! Lorgar is probably the primarch who loves the Emperor the most, but his love is rejected in the harshest of ways, and his love turns to hate and a devotion to the ruinous powers. The Emperor is incredibly powerful, but he is still just a human, deeply flawed as are we all. Horus is a loving figure, wise, charismatic, powerful, but through treachery he becomes everything he once would have stood against.
I really like the 30-millennium armors, purely industrialised, knightly and steampunk. The current ones felt too common, especially the helmet design. Regardless of how many chapters, they have the same looks but different palettes.

@@paulgibbon5991 To be fair, an Astarte won't be stopped by 50 of them. Neither a 100 or 200, even if it's concentrated. The armors cooling is just too high to reach a melting or deforming point. But you know, the Astra Militarium and the Mechanicus does have solutions. Like LasCANNONS. You know, the 2000 lasgun in 1 shot. Fuck youuu. That or giving every 10th guardsman a plasma gun, but that.. is more.. recruitment heavier.
We just need a film of the stand of cadia. No plot, no protag or antag just the non-ceasing human wrath to simply fight. I know nothing of 40K, but the fact that man is still standing and are that *insane* id watch that.

The Chaos Gods are formed, sustained and gain power through the psychic/magical power of corresponding negative thoughts, emotions and actions of humans.
Khorne is hate/anger/war
Nurgle is plague/decay/waste
Tzeench is scheming/betrayal/political power
Slaanesh is desire/debauchery/sexual violence
Because the Fantasy/Age of Sigmar setting is much smaller and contains far less people than the 40k universe the Chaos Gods are less powerful as there's less negative emotions, thoughts and actions to give them power.

Nurgle, for one, sees the plagues he bears upon his "children" as gifts. The Horned Rat, however, sees it as a weapon. He is essentially Rat Satan, as he's pretty much each of the Chaos God's worst aspects.
And who's to say he's not already in 40k? I mean, the End Times have shown both universes to be connected somehow. Besides, do you really think the Imperium would be willing to admit to having septillions of ratmen hidden beneath their planets?

im completely new to the W40k universe because i was never a fan of board games or big clunky armors but seeing this video alone gave me a whole new view of how brutal and somewhat satanic about the whole universe. Id get the feeling that all these guys in these huge hulkbuster armor are invincible but then i see them fall like leaves and some killing innocents,ripping heads or crawling for their life and the gore and the Aztec war horn music going on adds that much more to the horror, death doesnt seem to bad in most things ive seen but seeing these huge men whimper and die like its nothing makes me see that they dont wanna die at all because even dead bodies are stomped upon and disrespected
The kicker is that what you saw in the video are events of a brutal civil war that spanned years, pitting space marines against each other. Soldiers bred for war in humanity’s name now find themselves fighting those they once called brothers. Before it was unthinkable that space marines would ever point their blades at each other so they never bothered to learn how. You can see hints of desperation as they think of ways to kill their brothers. They were never made to fight each other so the brutality is extra due to not knowing the most effective way to kill fellow marines.

@@filthyshoggoth Not really. Because at that point humanity was basically all united now and the only remaining enemies before the dark gods of chaos kicked off a bunch more problems were alien species. There was no reason to think of space marines rebelling at all because of how loyal they were.
It’s actually explored in one of the novels where a space marine is punished for strategizing ways to kill other space marines in a hypothetical scenario. They called him insane and he was basically put on house arrest. In a twist of irony, this took place right as the betrayal was taking place and they called him back to duty because they needed his thinking. (Without spoiling he basically becomes well-respected in the war effort after that)

Will never be made, as you can't put product placement in it, and it would require the largest budget of any movie in history to do it right.

Bowden is a Master in humanizing the antagonists. I absolutly fell in love with the CSM because of "Talon of Horus", "Black Legion" and "The First Heretic". Absolute master of the "bad guys".
I really love these 40k cinematics I wish there was a whole move series I've looked into them and most of what I find are just clips that people have made themselves or have taken from other films that I don't yet know of

A full length Warhammer 40k movie would be near impossible...
The budget would be too huge for it to be good. It needs to be R-rated which will minimize sales, not to mention its target audience would be the worst kind, hard core dedicated which will destroy the movie if theres any inconsistency to the lore.
TLDR, it would cost too much and the audience would be too small to justify the cost and anything wrong in the script would be dismantled by the fans.

Somehow this was my first experience with Warhammer about two years ago and I had no idea what was going on. I was actually theorizing on what was happening and on if there was a larger story because I didn’t know it was warhammer. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out it wasn’t a oneshot and actually a big ass story

This is showcasing 2 very important moments in warhammer 30k during the start of the horus heresy.
Before the heresy started the word bearers (seen in gray) have an almost perfect and peaceful city of monarchia completely destroyed by the emperor of mankind AND the ultramarines. He does this because it was a city devoted to worshipping the emperor as a god. The emperor told the word bearers to stop spreading worship of him and this was their punishment. The emperor uses his psychic powers to force the entire legion to kneel before their perfect destroyed city the ash still freshly falling from monarchia being wiped off the planet. All were trembling due to the psychic assault on their minds but also at this time the word bearers were very kind and tender souls that really cared for the worlds they claimed and spent a lot of time improving the lives of the people living there. Many were weeping and in disbelief. This act Festered a great hatred for not just the emperor but the ultramarines as well. After this the word bears find the dark gods and begin worshiping them and binding demons to their elite warriors.
Now at the start of the heresy horus is in control of EVERY legion because he is warmaster appointed by the emperor himself. When Horus and the others turn traitor they dont do it openly as to have as many suprise attacks as possible.
Horus tells the ultramarines that a large amount of orks have been spotted around ultramar and to help "mend relations" he send the word beares to help them but in reality its an ambush. About half of the ultramarines legion and The word bearers (now painted red as they are "reborn") muster at calth one of the ultramarines planet. The word bearers basically surprise attack the ultramarines, you see in the video there are clips where the ultramarines are in complete SHOCK astartes on astartes (space Marines) combat has NEVER happened outside of training at this point.
The wordbearers kill 119,422 Ultramarines with a further 28,392 rendered combat-incapable, amd 40,000 Ultramarines forced to remain on Calth to fight the remaining word beares.
The word bearers then wage war acceoss the 500 worlds of ultramar and are later joined by thr world eaters in their assault. The word bearers become a very brutal unforgiving legion killing anyone that stands in their way
