Sometimes you get warped wood and sometimes the sun and heat will warp the wood,but most of the time you can straighten it out as you nail it for the ones you can’t you can either send it back for credit or use it for fire blocking or dead wood and returns.

You had mentioned that you might have to get a trailer house to live in until you could move into the house. I'm guessing you are trying to get into your house before the deadline? You are making great progress 👍
Finally got around to seeing your video and got to say, you are doing very well. Suggestions, when you have a split in the middle of the wall studs, try a small piece of wood screwed into it so you can not struggle to lift it. You can always remove it later if needed. Another thing, use a board stretcher to make the boards longer if needed. Our local hardware store had a few on sale when I was building our house and got one. They are a life saver in the laughter department...... When your boards are warped, depending on how warped they are a couple of claps on both top and sides should work till you nail them in.
I do have a wife but I do all the cooking because she loves that and She doesn't mind, because I am a great cook but she does do the dishes with the dishwasher lol but also whenever I take her out to dinner she gets sides and one day asked why and she said to me baby I love you cooking more than any place we could eat out at and that why i love so much
It was in 1969, I did what you and your family doing, building or dream house. My tools were a radial arm saw using the neighbors electric otherwise a hammer and nails. Took 9 months before we moved in. Used sub for electric, plumbing, drywall and heating. Follow your dream it is worth it all.
Not sure what your AHJ will say, but IBC says your top plates should meet on a stud. Especially on load bearing walls. Even with a double top plate, you need a stud under where two plates meet. Otherwise you have a weak point where sagging can happen. You might want to look into that before inspection. Otherwise, starting to look like a house. Good job.

From inside the industry, I'd say Warped/twisted/bowed is the usual. A straight 2x is the outlier. Even if you pick them out one by one at the yard, they're gonna do what they want to do once out in the field. The really bad ones get chopped for blocking. Best you can do is put all the crowns on the same side so it's easier to straighten and pack out the walls once the roof is on and it's all dried out. If you need a really flat wall, you have to use the LSL Timberstrand studs, but those are $$$ and special order. BTW, I see the nail gun seems to be performing better in that regular SPF lumber!
Thanks for the feedback! We ordered through a local hardware store. The first load came straight from their vendor. This warped batch, I found out later, came from their inventory which had been on the yard for about a year... Yes, the Dewalt nailer has done much better with the spruce than the SYP floor joists

Don’t forget to lock the inner walls on the top plates. Put the top plate on all the inner walls first and then put the top plate on the outer walls. Or cut out where the inner walls lock on the outer walls. 😊
I would take advantage of the good weather and keep working while it is nice out. I know it is hard but the quicker you get dried in the better off you will be.

To tie a wall on just use 3 studs nailed together like a channel. Back of channel is what you nail wall to. Gives you a nailer on both sides of the wall and takes less time to build. 😊
ya it happens a lot when buying wood from a big box stores and places like that it is just what it is and seen a lot of UA-camrs have the same issue and you just have deal with it sorry its that way but it is

Warped lumber is somewhat par for the course. However...I'm guessing the lumber company put that bundle together for you. They just grab what's on top. Builders usually order excess and return the crap or use it for cut pieces. Pick your own and you won't have so much of an issue but just being in the sun will have some twisting. Lumber just isn't the quality it was 25 years ago
I've heard that about the lesser lumber quality. All new rapid growth, not the same as the old growth, which was much more dense! I think this batch was particularly bad since we got it from the hardware store inventory instead of directly from the supplier. We did our best to straighten everything and threw aside the worst pieces.

Your not always going to find straight lumber . It is no t manufactured like metal. Very easy to straighten it .Flush up one end fasten it then keep straightening nailing it. It will not move again once fastened. Framers do through those pieces away.😅

Yes, most of them I'm splicing together at the top as we go. There are a few that I'll add a plate to since I put the double top plate on before we raised the partitions. Good attention to detail 😉
I appreciate the fact that you do your research, stick to proven building techniques. adhere to safety and building codes. I have watch way too many homesteaders sell everything, move to the country and then start building with the feeling that rules and regulations don't apply to them. Then they start throwing a tantrum when they get caught, or, continue on until things fall apart. It gets worse when the commenters side with them and praise them for "sticking to the man" (i.e. code enforcement, inspectors, permitting agencies, etc). As a commercial contractor I don't get to cut corners or "do my own thing" regardless of immediate or long term consequences.

Your double plate is supposed to overlap all adjoing walls to interlock them.

Wood is a natural product and takes on moisture and will warp no matter how straight it was when you bought it. Its the nature of the product.

Crown side up makes no difference here. That's for joists and other pieces that support floors and roofs. 1:38 😊
Well, that wall happens to be a load bearing wall for the ceiling joists 😉
