As well as auctioning off the Babe Ruth "called shot" jersey, Heritage auction is also auctioning off a 1938 Lou Gehrig game used jersey for approximately 7,000,000 dollars. Since Lou Gehrig is my favorite Yankee and athlete of all time and if I had the money to bid on both of these iconic jerseys (I do not), I would rather have the 1938 Lou Gehrig game used jersey. I realize that people will vehemently disagree with me, but a Lou Gehrig game used jersey would mean more to me!
No disagreement here Gehrig is my favorite player as well and of the players I’ve seen live Mattingly it’s too bad he just missed a World Series he deserved to be in one
A "story" I had read about, was the trash talking between Babe Ruth (at bat) and Cub players (in the dugout). I think a Yankee teammate had been traded to the Cubs, and Ruth felt he was not treated fairly by them (the Cub players). Players (on both winning and losing teams) would receive a percentage of the World Series revenue "gate" collected, and the players would vote how the share would be split/divided. This ex-Yankee teammate may not have been guaranteed a full share, perhaps because he was not with the Cubs the full season, and Babe Ruth called the Cub players "cheap" (among other "unkindly" words).
I have really come to loathe that old footage of the Bambino in action on the field interspersed with some silly crowd reaction shots culled from what is obviously a later era.
@@JackieDaytona1776his endorsement deals would get it done. Nice piece of memorabilia to have. As a Yankees fan if i had billions of dollars i for sure would be at this auction..
@@leo29hornsfan I see he was expected to earn $35MM in '23 through endorsements. Considering AMT & jock tax and the fact that he clearly doesn't know how to manage his money since he's a kid and his best friend stole millions, I wouldn't expect him to be as liquid as one should be to make such an investment. He certainly could do it sooner than I could, but I wouldn't advise it lol
This belongs in a museum

I'm sure you have money to bid, just not to win lol

So cool❤️🙌🏽
What is this? THey think it's the jersey because it's picture matched? They don't even know for sure if it's the real jersey.
Why wouldn’t kids know Ruth was the one that did it?
My guess is they don't teach that in school or sports anymore or that kids of today aren't interested in that kind of stuff. Then again, I don't know
They haven’t seen the sandlot.
Oh no. I hope I Mike Francesa doesn’t hear about this

Iconic 👍❤️
Bet you Ohtani could afford this 😉
He's currently paid 2MM salary a year lol

Ridiculous
Obviously you're not a collector.....which is fine.
He actually motioned toward the pitcher, saying he was going to hit it down his throat. it's in the Ken Burns book Baseball.
Ken Burns is a hack.
Babe is not the GOAT. Number don’t lie.
