Although I was too young to have gone to a game there before it was torn down, looking at the images, there's something beautiful and irreplaceable about the way the sun hits the trees through the windows.
This week in baseball music. Oh to take a time machine to see Old Comiskey, Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds. This comiskey park faced the Chicago skyline but it was blocked off by the scoreboard and outfield enclosed upper decks.
The best ballpark ever built. It smelled like beer and cigar smoke, and the steak sandwiches were amazing. I can still hear Andy the Clown yelling, "Gooooooooh youooooo White Sox!" Nancy Faust's organ sounds resounded. The L rumbled by on the Dan Ryan. The game was simple and clear and fun and American. This was far away in a different world, before baseball began resembling a video game and political correctness and wokeism dominated corporate culture.
Sounds like a lot of fun. Wish we could go back to those days. I'm an Orioles fan, and wish that I could have been alive long enough ago to watch a game at old Memorial Stadium. There's just something about baseball of those days which seems like it was such a fun sport to be around.
If there was a ballpark that was ever to be rebuilt, this is This one. It is possible. Atlanta & Texas have built 2 new parks after New Comiskey. & we see the success of a rebuilt / modernized Wrigley field. The White Sox can build a modernized exact replica & be the envy of all MLB. The lease the Sox have at new Comiskey is up in 2029. So why not put the plan in motion to rebuild the Baseball Palace of the World. Build a true ballpark, not a monstrosity of a stadium dressed up with the swag of false character & fake historic value that the rest of MLB has except for Fenway & Wrigley. Build a true intimate ballpark the way it should be.
Great Video about a place I will never forget. Lifelong Sox fan. Whenever I miss Comiskey, I watch this.

T.W.I.B. Notes! I loved watching that show as a kid and hearing Mel's classic voice. Nice pick. Great job on the video
