"I think it'd be fun to be neighbors for a couple of weeks, huh?"
"YEH HEHHH!"
🤣🤣
I LOVE that line. His reaction! 😂
Love how Columbo pretends to pay attention to Ken’s mob theory while clearly he is not buying it at all
Same when they talk about flying back vs driving back and 'how much time you really save'. Gotta love those moments.
This episode was directed by a young Steven Spielberg.
Where he met a young Steven Bochco, who wrote the episode. They became lifelong friends. They really set the tone for the series. Bochco later paid tribute to Spielberg by naming a boy genius (Steven Spelberg) after him in the 1974 Columbo episode "Mind Over Mayhem".
One of the early episodes, and one of the Best.
It's the very first episode of Colombo.
I love this episode.Ken thought he could outsmart everyone.
I love his comment at the end when he admits it was his idea and not his partners
@@pardeepshori3355 Yes !!! He knew that Jim was the one with the good ideas.
The good old programs had the Golden acting and performances
True. Nothing on the TV today beats 70s Columbo.
@@adamv242 FOR "ABSOLUTE" SURE! What a great series.
You know, my wife once took a Boeing flight. She said those whistleblowers have a life expectancy of 40 years.
😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂😂
4:47 "...I know you did it!" - nice ;)
Omg I just noticed that
A great episode of Columbo. You can tell its a Steven Spielberg direction, especially with the close up angle shots.
Sad that the lady playing the blackmailer was actually murdered herself in real life. She was a great actress.
Was she? 😢 what's her name please?
@@dila4834 Barbara Colby
@SB-mm9zh Thank You 😊
She was the first of two people who played a murder victim who actually were murdered in real life later on.
@SciTrekMan They never found the murderer. I just watched a shot story on her. Who was the other one please?
I love this episode (and all of the rest of them). I have watched them all probably over 20 times each. Sometimes, when I was younger, I would put on a Columbo that I (illegally) recorded on VHS from TV and let them play as I dozed off.
This is the episode directed by Steven Spielberg.
Great episode.
I always love any episodes with jack cassidy in it, the majority portion of the episodes are a blast, but they're always relatively weak on the 'expose' part imo.
One of the best episodes.
I was always fascinated by Jack Cassidy's elegance & classiness. Shocked that he caused David, his son so much pain.
According to David’s book his father had mental health issues and was a chronic alcoholic. He said his behavior was pretty erratic. Might have contributed to how he treated his son.
@@lisawilliams2013 For those who didn't know, Jack Cassidy died in a house fire when he fell asleep w/a lit cigarette burning (49 yrs old). He was also the father of Shaun Cassidy (David's half-brother).
Jack Cassidy was a great actor. I really like seeing him on "Columbo" (as well as Robert Culp).
@@isabellind1292 yes, tragedy about Cassidy’s demise. Gruesome. But agreed, great actor, and he and Culp are two of my favorite Columbo baddies too!
Brilliant show they don't make them like this anymore 😢
Columbo is alive and well on youtube
Can you see this comment? (I get shadow banned and never know if my comments are visible to others). I hope so because "Columbo" episodes are alive and well and free by googling "Archive" Columbo episodes. You can watch all 69 episodes. It's great!
"Archive" also airs (free) episodes of "Night Gallery" and I just watched the movie "CHRISTINE" (free) on "Archive" so you never know what other shows/movies etc. they air for free.
Poor Miss LaSanka. She was attracted to a murderer.
“Lieutenant you’re ALWAYS in the area.”
When Culombo says "oh, one more thing" - be affraid. Be very affraid.
Bit of a flaw in story logic here. With Jack Cassidy proud of his “perfect alibi” for a murder story, and living in his partner’s shadow, he would have insisted it be used for an upcoming novel-and since the partner wrote it down, he would have been keen on the idea of using it sooner rather than later.
Yeah, the ending is not that satisfying to be honest. Great episode though
Dont see a flaw.. even if..
@@robertocaba5915 This poor gal got smashed in the face like that other gal who got a fist to the face. There was a lot of face slapping, too in "COLUMBO." And equal-opportunity slapping.
Men weren't spared a slap upside the cheek and even Columbo narrowly missed being slapped across the face by a bratty teenager who'd already slapped her mom across the face but Columbo was quick to raise his arm just in time to ward it off...it must have been trending in the 70's, lol!🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐👀
Barbara Colby (Lilly LaSanka) was herself a murder victim. She was murdered on Ju.y 24, 1975., along with James Kiernan, while returning to their parked cars after teaching an acting class. Their murderers were never caught and case is still unsolved. She was the first of two Colombo murder victims to be later murdered in real life. The other is Sal Mineo, who appeared in A Case of Immunity.
08:57 ... Columbo overall figured out the whole case, but the point about the book signing is kind of weak tea.
People autograph items all the time "with all my love, etc" all the time and they don't really know the person very well at all, when people make autograph requests and ask for specific language in the autograph.
2:34: Oh, good lord; I used to have a vent hood just like that in my kitchen! Man, was that thing UGLY! Ripped it out a decade ago when we remodeled...
Such a great episode to kick-off the first series. However, I think the murderer caved in way too easily. Still don't think Columbo had conclusive proof even with that slip of paper with the murder plot written on it.
Especially in Cailifornia courts- the lack of evidence portrayed in Columbo episodes would never fly. Great shiw however.
2:25 ghost shadow??! Look closer
Nice catch
You’re always in the neighborhood.
Sloppy, very sloppy.
This is a popular episode, but despite the smooth acting, it doesn’t do much for me.
The episode ft. Mr. Cassidy as a magician, that I enjoyed. Old enough to have seen it as a kid in the 70’s, as I recall the number trick Columbo learned (picking up the phone, etc.)
Columbo understands psychology. Underwhelm people, make them think they know more than you and are smarter than you & let them talk about all they know on a subject. Eventually, they'll say something crucial to the matter.
Love the end " who outta thouth the idiot had it written down"
Cassidy . . . such a bully!
The guy is wearing gloves, there is plastic on the sofa, does the victim suspect nothing? At this moment I tell myself that he is no more intelligent than a sheep going to the slaughterhouse.
Plastic lined sofas were usual back then.
La Sanka Sank.
Columbo taught me to make an omelet in this one, too bad they cut it out.
(the secret is all milk , no eggs) 😂
Couldn’t phone records indicate the location of Jim’s call to his wife !?!
Good Call
Jack Cassidy died in strange circumstances during a fire while he was sleeping, a few months after his third appearance in the series. Steve Spielberg is the name of a character in season three, Mind over Mayhem.
I have just watched this episode last night.
Dans ses trois épisodes Jack Cassidy est l'un des meurtriers les plus inventifs, souriants et bavards... 😅
He says "This is a professional killig" wrong.

Ken should not have cancelled his first date.
That actor has a most irritating saliva sound
