So many additional uses for a structural Ridgeline... line to drape mosquito net/winter shelter from, line to hang ridgeline organizer, Hangtime attachment, grab/hold steadier when outside of hammock, pull up and out when in hammock, line to drape sleeping bag/clothes over to air out, etc. Thanks for posting this info again Shug. Another great vid! Here's what I did to get my sweet spot... sounds a lil crazy but it worked well since I was alone and didn't want to keep getting in / out and re-tying the ridge line. I placed two small carbiners on the continuous loops. Then hooked a ratcheting "Motorcycle strap" (Cargo strap) to the carabiners. I layed in the hammock and just tightened it a click at a time until I found my spot, them marked it on the Amsteel.
Wow that's kind of cool the chances of me seeing you when I was just a young lad 85/87 I think I seen Barnum and Bailey what actually captured me into reptiles and tarantulas and camping out in the mountains used to live in Fort Lupton 30 miles south of Denver

And I felt ya right in the beginning of this video, when you mentioned that you talked about ridgelines already (I watched, liked, an LOVED that video as well as this one). But I realy want to thank you for this special video, because you reminded me of thaat 83% starting point to find the sweetspot. So tihs is what I'm doing with my freetime tomorrow in this Covid19-Sh*t we're in (jepp, back here in germany as well as in the US of A), I'll take my hammocks out to my backyard and give them a ridgeline made of paracord, since I have pleanty of that, with the knots you recommended. And I'll set my homemade (and all-time-favorite one) up first to find my sweetspot and konw the percentage of the lenght of the hammock. So, my (wohoooo) buddy, thank you for reminding me of the important basics of hamocking, and very king regards from germany, Yours Sascha

Ricciardo is my favorite driver as a person and I hope with the new engines from Mercedes to McLaren, they will have some success. I assume you have seen the Netflix series "Drive to Survive?" I have also used a small carabiner for a ridgeline adjuster. Clip the carabiner on the line and wrap excess line onto the “body “ of the biner. On one DYI hammock, my ridgeline has a pirsek knot coming back on to itself on one end. Someone once said “hammocks can be a bit fiddly. But that’s the part I like”. Glad to see your sector is safe.

I am solo a lot and in the deep woods so just a look around and I change. But just inform folks you are changing and to turn away. If they peek...that is on them. Or step behind your tarp.
When I first got my Warbonnet Eldorado I would sometimes have calf-ridge and sometimes not. I think I eventually learned that setting my ridgeline too tight was the cause of the calf-ridge, meaning my ridgeline was too long -- when I didn't get calf-ridge the line was WAY too slack. I temporarily used your carabiner method of shortening the ridgeline (the one you use to shorten the ridgeline to keep it out of your face in bench-seat mode). After I got a good and consistent lay with no calf-ridge I took a measurement and made a new shorter ridgeline out of 1.75mm Zing-It (since there's a rule of a slightly slack ridgeline I knew the heavier Amsteel that comes stock was overkill). I made four soft-shackles out of the original ridgeline, two of which I wear as bracelets all the time now! The carabiner method of taking up excess line length worked great for finding my ideal ridgeline length. For anyone that reads this and doesn't know the carabiner trick I'm talking about, you just loop the line around the backbone of a carabiner and through the gate. Each loop around the carabiner takes up about an inch if you use what I would call a 'normal' hammocking carabiner. It's very easy to undo and adjust.
My Hennessy Leaf, (basic hammock, no screen), came with a sewn in ridge line. I am thinking about cutting it somewhere near one end and tying a figure 8 knot to both cut ends. I can then use a separate line between the two for adjustment. In my case I would like to try a bit longer than stock. One thing I found is placing something under my knees makes the lay more comfortable. Inflatable pillow, Sack of clothes, Waterproof bag inflated, whatever. Laying in a end gathered hammock makes my knees over extend. When in bed at home even laying on my back, my knees are bent a bit. I never heard anyone suggest this, so maybe give it a try and see what you think.

When I first got my Warbonnet Eldorado I would sometimes have calf-ridge and sometimes not. I think I eventually learned that setting my ridgeline too tight was the cause of the calf-ridge, meaning my ridgeline was too long -- when I didn't get calf-ridge the line was WAY too slack. I temporarily used your carabiner method of shortening the ridgeline (the one you use to shorten the ridgeline to keep it out of your face in bench-seat mode). After I got a good and consistent lay with no calf-ridge I took a measurement and made a new shorter ridgeline out of 1.75mm Zing-It (since there's a rule of a slightly slack ridgeline I knew the heavier Amsteel that comes stock was overkill). I made four soft-shackles out of the original ridgeline, two of which I wear as bracelets all the time now! The carabiner method of taking up excess line length worked great for finding my ideal ridgeline length.
For anyone that reads this and doesn't know the carabiner trick I'm talking about, you just loop the line around the backbone of a carabiner and through the gate. Each loop around the carabiner takes up about an inch if you use what I would call a 'normal' hammocking carabiner. It's very easy to undo and adjust.
It works like a charm, it does.

My Hennessy Leaf, (basic hammock, no screen), came with a sewn in ridge line. I am thinking about cutting it somewhere near one end and tying a figure 8 knot to both cut ends. I can then use a separate line between the two for adjustment. In my case I would like to try a bit longer than stock.
One thing I found is placing something under my knees makes the lay more comfortable. Inflatable pillow, Sack of clothes, Waterproof bag inflated, whatever. Laying in a end gathered hammock makes my knees over extend. When in bed at home even laying on my back, my knees are bent a bit. I never heard anyone suggest this, so maybe give it a try and see what you think.

I always think my ridgeline is too tight and afraid it will snap. But hasent yet. First night is always pins and needles.
I know the feeling. I have never had one snap either.
