I’m getting super excited about the build progress, and even more excited to put it to the test in Baja! Thanks so much for being a part of the journey 🙏
First off, I’ve never seen anyone hold a marker like you do….. secondly, after your trip to Alaska, you are pretty much prepared to tackle any issues that might come up on the trip to Baja! And thirdly, take a detour to Arkansas…. Haha
Hi Ben, just a thought, you have a lot of space in the walls of the troopy. You could probably use that space to mount your fuse panel, too. Maybe on a mollie panel or some kind of brace between the bulk head's. I know you really don't have the time. But I'm a strong believer in keeping things simple, try and not to analyze it to much. Good luck with the build, and I'm sure she's going to work out in the long run.
That's a great point John! I've definitely been thinking about more creative ways to use that empty space. I think that luckily it's something I can give some thought to after this shake down trip, and try to figure it out before I take off for the real deal! Thank you so much!
thanks for documenting this part of the journey. I am actually doing something similar and you are leading the way for me. Next thing for me will be buying the saw and the blade for cutting aluminium. Notice that you have a Joolca Hottap shower nozzle mounted on the gullwing behind the drivers seat. will be interesting to see how you work out how you mount the water tank, the gas bottle and the water heater. I was thinking just keep it all in the tub and set it up every day...But would prefer to have it mounted somewhere on the vehicle ready to use if that were possible.
Hey man! Glad to hear it! I’m actually only using the joolca off grid plumbing kit for the shower and kitchen faucet, no hot water because sadly it’s just not a luxury I could afford the space on.
Never be normal, that's boring. Camp chairs are a pain to store. I currently store ours vertically strapped to an 80/20 frame. Keeping easy access to heaters, compressors, pumps is a good idea, but man it takes so much reconfiguring of other gear storage. I used t-nuts installed in my floor ply to bold cabinet to, for easy removal, but it was a pain to do this. The longest 1/2"ish baltic birch ply cabinet lid I have to sit on is 3' and it doesn't flex. You electrical cabinet is gonna be great.
Oh that’s a big confidence boost because that’s exactly what I’ve done to mount the cabinets to the floor! Marked out and set a bunch of t-nuts under the Baltic birch plywood, and planning to use some angle brackets to mount the frames to the floor! Thanks so much man 🙌
You know, that’s something I’ve been going back and forth on for a while now. The plywood floor has like 6 coats of poly on it, and has held up pretty well, but laying some vinyl flooring on the high traffic areas may be in the cards still. Thanks 🤙

Excited to see the build in person! Lets meetup once its done
Most definitely! Gotta see if this old truck can keep up with your awesome jeep 🙌
Love that framing material, Ben. It looks very sturdy and enjoyable to work with. I'm enjoying the build - Dan 🌲
It’s been very nice to work with! We will learn together if it withstands the test time 😅 thanks so much Dan!
Great Ben! thank you very much for 🎥👍
Thanks Adolf! I appreciate you watching 🙌

Hahaha yeah blame my elementary school teachers 😂 pens, pencils, markers lol. Dude I really do want to make it out there!

Feel like you missed an opportunity to put some flooring down before you started all this. Makes for a much easier way to keep the inside clean

I have ply over insulation. I just a carpet runner in the isle with good results
@@mongo1243 I was leaning this way too, something I can just pull out a give a good shake once in a while.
@@BenStinnett laying flooring before you added the framing would be much easier, less cutting of the flooring.
@@GoSlowTaco yeah that makes perfect sense. The frames aren’t mounted yet, I’ve still gotta insulate the walls so I’ve got time to figure out my plan.
