    Finrod Felagund is my favorite character from the first age, the greatest exemplar of virtue and courage perhaps of any elf. I think it is likely his sacrifice to save Beren in the dungeons of Sauron was key to the beseeches of Aerendil and Elwing being received as they hoped. To me the key arc in The Silmarillion is how the noldor commit the most cardinal crime possible, killing their kin, but find redemption through sacrifice for a new kin, mankind. Thats the downfall/redemption arc

    You’re going to love the stories in the “Children of Hurin” and the other “Fall Of Gondolin”. A great man who took on hordes of orcs ALONE and the details went on for at least a whole page. One also being the story of Hammerhand. Gosh it was amazing. The evil forces came to fear this man. Especially we ever they hear his horn even centuries later.

    You'd also love the debate between Aegnor and Andreth: A VERY beautiful conversation between this woman he befriended since she was a young human woman and he was to basically marry her i believe when he came back from a big war and he didn't come back sadly...

      Oh for the love of… Finrod. I could have sworn it was Aegnor in this part!!

    Great reaction as always! I recommend that you watch Before the Ages,First Age and Second Age videos by the channel called CivilizationEx.These are more historical and chronological videos that will help you better understand individual stories and the time periods as you continue to learn about the lore. Plus the voice of the narrator is amazing.

    Than you for this one! :) Perhaps you could also consider making a reaction on a video about Fingolfin? :) He is one of the most epic characters created by Tolkien and my own personal favourite. ^_^ And also about Feanor - this would explain a lot about the further stories and about the "saltiness", as you put it, of his sons. ;)

      hahaha very salty! Yes fingolfin is on the list and feanor is a must! Great suggestions thanks for all the support!

      If you're gonna react to Fingolfin, I highly recommend Men of the West's video titled "The Duel of Fingolfin and Morgoth - Brought to life"

      @@darcyliz9993 Great suggestion - it would be great though to watch first a video about Fingolfin hiself, to have a proper context to the duel with Morgoth, IMO. :)
      Hope that yt stopped their shenanigans with your comments. ;)

      There are just two videos about Fingolfin. The one with History of the Ages and Dork Lords. Damn. Why is Fingolfin so underrated.

    Also in the Dagor Bragollach, Finrod's brothers Angrod and Aegnor would be slain

      Which is sad because Aegnor was basically going to become engaged to the woman named Andreth. The debate Of Aegnor and Andreth was a very very deep conversation between them that lasted dozens of hours through day and night. They were very close. Whoops. I always thought it was Aegnor in that section of the story I mentioned!

    Two language comments and two backhanded recommendations:
    1. Iluvatar (as in God) - it should be pronounced with the stress on "vat", giving it a Germanic sound - it means "father of all"
    2. The Edain nickname for Finrod should be pronounced as if it were "gnome" - because it's the last vestige of Tolkien's longstanding tendency to refer to the Noldor as "gnomes", in the sense of "those with knowledge"
    3. At any mention of Finrod's partner....hmm...anyone who's read the very lengthy Beren/Luthien fanfic called A Boy A Girl And A Dog will remember Amarie being depicted as an appallingly arrogant so-and-so - with even the reincarnated Finrod wondering what he ever saw in her! Which is not implausible - "Vanyarin privilege went to her head?"
    4. There used to be (or still is?) a forum called The Council of Elrond with one of the message boards ruled over by a clique of Silmarillion-loving geek-girls who idealize and worship Feanor, inspite of everything.

    • @Makkaru112
      @Makkaru112 2 роки тому +1

      Tolkien did write about eleven divorce but it has rules it must abide by. This is why Feanor became so much more effected early on in his life. His mother couldn’t be brought back from Halls of Mandos. And so His Father remained without a partner forever because the mother perished for a reason I cannot remember right now before she could put her blessings on the dissolving of the partnership so Feanor also had to watch his father suffer alone. Something along those lines.

      @Makkaru112 2 роки тому +1

      Believe me. I’m not one of those geek girls. And I’m not a girl. I’m a guy. I just study all ends of Tolkien to then find even deeper connections than ever before the longer I am exposed to the content itself. It’s a work of art that touches your soul and ignites ones inner scholar!
