I use to be just like you, demo knight is one of the most fun ways to play the game. I use to run demoknight in pubs for the longest time. But if you want to step your game up, use stickies. Grenade Launcher is only good at mid to close range, same with your shields. So you're turning a mid to long range class into a close one. Creating a pick class (i have to charge into unfavorable situations and hope for a pick) And good scouts eat up demoknights sadly, so use the stickybomb launcher. it's tough to master but if you Google "Tr_ maps" like tr walkway, tr arena, tr aim training, it should help a lot. Also, if you use stickies, you should always be behind your team, and you should try to stay alive almost always. For example, if you lose two teammates on mid and the other team (if it's 6s) has a full 6 players, then get out and set up a sticky trap. You delay the enemy team cuz they have to check for traps, and if they don't you get a trap kill(s.) but let's say u were running a shield, then you can't do any of that. and your options are, suicide into the team and pray for a pick, or get out but you can't really do anything. You could also go behind and distract, but if you aren't drawing players back, then it's a wasted effort. If you really don't like the idea of using stickies, which is pretty much required in comp leagues out of tf2, then you could use the Iron bomber, but those pills are still easy to dodge or move around from a distance. So my personal suggestion get good with stickies, play mid range, where you could do damage and not take a lot in return, and learn the rollouts to the maps (if you really want to be good :)) hope this helped!

There's so much more you can do with the stickybomb laucher. also youtubing (made up a word) vids of demo reviews of demomen also helps a lot. I most of the time hit all my shots not guarantee on scouts but is been successful in matches. Many good demos use Stickys 90% of the time. Of course Pipes can be a good defense tool if a scout is in your face, and its good for spamming too once your stickies are laid down. There is nothing wrong with sticky spam demos and I can guarantee the guy you just saw play in this frag movie, also sticky spams.
and also,pyros not use loot secondary ar hard for demo. sticky spamming to ground and holding m2 down is easyest way kill them, and stivkys made little bit more damage

Charlie Struckman au contraire stickies are only good for zoning out good scouts. you still need to kill them with pipes.
