Great 1st episode!!! Love your ending…. Stop debating with (or against)… simply BE the Jesus we “preach”, tangibly to one another, serving one another, encouraging one another, exhorting one another… and the world will see and feel our “ 4:44 Jesus” Love. ❤️ Amen!!!!
I couldn’t say it any better than this. This was a great thought provoking first episode which lead me to feel the same as you. Great teaching and admonition Pastor Lance.
I especially appreciate your exhortation to be the Body of Christ, no matter when you happen to believe He will return. I’m struck that Jesus taught through parable to be ready 2,000 years ago! To occupy with the purpose of increase. So if He comes tomorrow or in another 2,000 years, it is our calling to be faithful. Lord, help us to bring glory to You.
I am just an average or maybe below-average Christian and some of this was way above my head. I didn't understand some of what he was talking about. Thank you for the lesson, Pastor.
It’s okay… listen and get what you can from his teachings. God will bless your time spent seeking Him, seeking to know Him and familiarizing yourself with church history. Write down what you “get” and what stands out to you. Don’t “compare yourself” to his level… that will advocate quitting. Not many are able to “understand” this level of wisdom. You’re not alone. Keep coming back. 🙏🏻 it’s all about learning and living Gods Word but this is good to sharpen our knowledge. Your faith got you here. Allow it to keep you here.
It's so awesome that you're here, and that you're listening to it. I promise if you stick around it will not be over your head for long. And there's plenty of us around that would love to answer any questions that you have so next time something's over your head take notes, and then comment and we'll see if we can clear it up for you. I've been with Lance for 23 years now and my life and knowledge has increased exponentially listening to him week after week after week, I don't know how long I'm going to hang on to it at this age though so ask quickly hahaha 😂❤️ Seriously though, that's the best way to get past it is just to ask questions. When I went to college I was always that person that wanted to sit in the front row, and always wanted to ask the questions that everybody else were hesitant to ask. Afterwards somebody always thanked me for asking... So never be afraid to ask a question because that's how we grow and learn 😉 If you're lucky Lance himself or David guzik may answer and then you'll get a real treat ❣️
Another thing that may have made it difficult is that you are getting a history of the Christian church without the biblical background associated with it. History is Lance's forte if you will but he is an excellent Bible teacher also, and I'm sure he will mix it with much more scripture as he continues This is kind of more of a introduction than anything else which is why it just gives an oversight of that area of the world and what was going on in it during the time of jesus's life death and resurrection. If you listen to it with that perspective in mind it might be easier to process.
@@taralaurenedavenport3119Wonderful words! I love how God lovingly nurtures our faith from maybe simple and somewhat confused, to vibrant, bold and all encompassing. Blessings. 🙏🤲🕊🤗
@dlcalbaugh I've been listening to Pastor Lance do these lessons for several years now. They are not meant to be sermons or Biblical teachings. They are history lesons. Pretty soon we will leave the time of the Apostles behind and get into the early church fathers, the formation of the church and the numerous splits. These lessons are great because they fill in so many gaps on how we got to where we are today as a church. They also bring clarity to certain events that often get brought up in discussions with non-believers. Stick around! You won't regret it
I am really enjoying these lessons Lance, thank you for sharing. I am listening and re-listening. I also enjoy your " turns " on David's Q/A. David is great and has great friends too!! Our good is generous!!
Thank you, all, for this super series! I learned so much from Pastor Guzik's church history series last year. This looks to be another wonderful tool to share with those still being "ripened" by the Holy Spirit. Thank you Pastor Lance.
Wonderful, thank you so much again for your kind words and support, it's much appreciated, by Pastor David, Pastor Lance and all of us at Enduring Word. God be with you!
It’s true Jesus’s 1st coming was missed by most. After all, it was shocking that all those prophecies of a Suffering Servant would be literally fulfilled. But praise God they were, as they testify of Jesus being the Messiah, and they give precedence that His 2nd coming prophecies will also be literally fulfilled. And since no one alive will be able to miss His tearing thru the sky in brilliant light and fire, we don’t have to worry about missing Him. Thus, logically speaking, we need only consider the possibility of missing the time leading up to His return.…but YOU are children of light, so as not to be caught off guard like the rest of the unbelieving world. Maranatha.
Absolutely loved this and will be going through all the other episodes. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for providing these information here. God bless🧡
Thank you pastor Lance, (if I may use your first given name). Pastor, I had not really thought about the way things were in such an elegant combination of beliefs and problematic understanding of groups in the beginning of our faith. Jesus Christ is and always will be our heart to true understanding, we should lead with an informed heart. Thank you again
I've been listening to your history lessons since the Communio Sanctorum podcast and I'm excited to see you reach a new audience with this invaluable teaching!
Amen! You start this video confirming what it took me years to understand, that Jesus never came to start a new religion. If we follow him, we follow Moses (the way Jesus taught him).
I want to express gratitude for the constant free content shared within our Christian community. There's a question about two Church history playlists: this one and another by David Guzik. I'd like to know which one would be better to start with… ❤ Please let me know your thoughts. Finally, the unexpected ending was truly captivating. Thank you very much.
Pastor Lance replies - sorry for the long delay in replying. David's series was more compact and short. This series is likely to run to well over a 150 episodes
Dear brother Lance, what a joy this has brought to my heart. You have managed to put a whole mass of complicated jargon into plain and easily understood language. as a teacher of the Word myself, I know just how difficult that is in our own strength and therefore have no doubt that your teaching is truly inspired by the Holy Spirit. painfully accurate you have managed to place the confusion of some 4600 denominations into perspective in a way even hard-working members of the public can grasp and absorb within a short message. I hope you will, at some time, make a transcript of this available on the website. Agape and shalom.
Despite the lack of organization faith blossomed Conversely now with much organization and ado there is precious little faith in God Followers of man✔️ But little faith in God😮
The author misunderstands the Judaizers. This is understandable because of the equivocal way they use the word "law," or "law of Moses." While we generally think of its use in the bible as referring to what Moses wrote, they also and primarily used it to refer to customs and legal rulings that have become a part of rabbinic judaism. These were the same rabbinic teachings that Jesus objected to when he argued with the pharisees, for example about how the sabbath, hand washing or divorce should be practiced. Neither Jesus nor Paul had the authority to change the bible including the teachings of Moses. In fact, they never would have considered doing so. But they did object to the added regulations of judaism which was described as "a burden that neither our ancestors nor we can bear".
You did not state how Christ first established his Church. The very beginning of Church history. The Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock"of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock. The office of binding and loosing which was given to Peter, was also assigned to the college of Apostles, united to its head. This pastoral office of Peter and the other Apostles belongs to the Church's very foundation, and is continued by the bishops under the primacy of the Pope.
Our perceptions and beliefs can influence how we interpret information, even when the content may not be objectively present. If someone seeks to find Catholicism within the Bible, their perspective might lead them to find connections or interpretations supporting their belief, regardless of whether those connections are genuinely there. Essentially, we tend to see what we are looking for, sometimes even when it's not there.
Repent Brother Aussie and turn to Christ with all your heart if you haven’t done it! The Popes won’t save you and there won’t be no purgatory. The time to repent and turn to Christ with all your heart is NOW.
