As an experienced drone fisherman I know firsthand the positive as well as the negative impacts of drone fishing and "fishing" in general, no matter the method they all pose both positive and negative effects prospectively. Drone fishing takes a lot of time to master. A fully aware & responsible drone fisherman with adequate training will reduce the negative impacts greatly. A drone fishing permit with strict rules and regulations imo could help generate the necessary discipline. There is no denying that the method works and it has been able to provide food for families which have been evident. I also believe that drone fishing should be subjected to certain areas away from highly populated areas which does pose a challenge especially if you're from oahu. I am all for the protection of our reefs as well as the people who partake in its resources. If there is a way to make this work then it's all good, if not then that's okay too. Regardless, we will still continue to partake and enjoy fishing no matter the outcome.
Just completed the survey. Thanks for posting it! I think drone fishing enables those of us that can't afford a boat to be able to provide for our families. I have no problem with it as long as it's done responsibly.
Thank you for completing the survey 🤙 Yes, if done responsibly the negative impacts will reduce greatly. A permit is a fair way to go about this instead of denying a method of fishing that has worked for many people out there 🙏

If they banned fishing with a drone; they should also ban hunting with dogs.
Honestly, here on kauai no one cares. drone fishing is alive and well along with locals driving on the beach.

What about to survey fishing spots? Not to drop the line with the drone, just to look around, over the waters with it?
As a local fisherman drone fishing could impact our reefs state wide 🤙🏽🌴.
I fully understand and I appreciate your mana'o 🙏🙏🙏
Rahjah! Got em done Kanaka
Yessah! Big Mahalo 🙏
Holding a device over the water to catch the fish to eat , Why do you need a license when you have a license for fishing already?
