Sree Devarkudam Mahadeva kshethram is 12 kms east of Palakkad, situated at Ambala Parambu, Polpully, on the Maruthampallam- Pathi road. According to the Archeological Dept. records, this temple is one of the two in Palakkad District. During Tippu sultan's period this Temple was destroyed for its wealth and the granites were used to construct the Fort at Palakkad. The only remaining diety is the Shiva Linga, all others were completely destroyed.
This Temple property was under the possession of the famous Maniyil family. Due to the initiative of some devotees, the Maniyil family members were appraised of the importance of the reconstruction of the temple. They whole heartedly handed over the property to Viswa Hindu Parishad. A committee was formed for the reconstruction of the temple with the help of VHP and with the co-operation of local people. As per the astrological decision, Brahmasree sreekumar poyil pulpalli, Vayanadu was selected as the Tantri for the temple and he was brought to the temple premises and his opinion and instructions were sought. Approximately the cost of reconstruction will come upto 5 crore. With the blessings of Sree Mahadeva and with the support of the Thantri the construction of the sanctum sanctorum has begun. This Holy endeavour can be fulfilled only with the whole-hearted co-operation and contribution from the devotees. General public is not aware of the importance of this Holy temple, except the local people and some researchers. All devotees are requested to participate in the pooja and other rituals of the temple and get the blessings of Sree Mahadeva.
