  • Have you ever wondered why some things taste sour while some are bitter? Let's go to your kitchen to help us find what tastes sour and bitter. If you taste lemon or vinegar they will taste sour. Now tastes some baking soda. It is bitter, isn’t it? This is because of hydrogen and hydroxide ions contained in them.
    Let me elaborate. Acids and bases are two chemical compounds. Acids taste sour because it has a lot of hydrogen ions while bases are bitter because of hydroxide ions. Usually, every liquid is either one of them. Bases are slippery when you touch them such as soap while acids help break down things or corrode things.
