That was awesome, Carys! Thank you for showing us life in the Academy. Are any teachers NOT leaving next summer?! So happy for you that your brother has arrived on Africa Mercy.
So Glad it was helpful! When I was last there we were using a Texas curriculum but I believe this is being changed to one that translates better internationally as many of the students are not American. I'll have to check on that though
no their are families who live on the ship so the parents of these kids are volentairs on the ship and the whole family including the children live on the ship.
Really enjoying your vlogs! I only recently found out about the Mercy Ship and it sounds wonderful! Are there any special needs teaching jobs? Or a way to get involved in working with children outside the academy with special needs or disabilities? I am currently a teacher for learners with autism so would love to somehow get involved that way while being an academy teacher. Thank you! (Sorry for commenting on an old vlog, I'm working my way through them like a series :D)
I was a student onboard for a while, and there weren't a lot of special needs teachers, but there were mentor teachers who taught a specific grade and other students too.
Brings back so many memories especially seeing Ms Robinson! Grade 8 was the best because I had another girl in my class finally! Miss you!
Chelsea Walls awww those were the days!! I was so glad to have a friend in the big scary world of junior high!

I am confused. Why are the kids going to school on the ship? Are they patients of the ship?
