This is totally off topic but I’m 100% sure we are going to be getting a MK8D port during the release of the next console sometime in the next couple of years. It just makes sense from Nintendo’s perspective, like how it’s the best selling game in the series could be enough reasoning to port it again. they could just combine MK8D and the BCP, add maybe like a couple more cups, some more characters, and then call it a day. If they add more cups in this rerelease, they would no doubt use “over 100 courses!” As a major selling point. They’d probably add courses from tour that didn’t make it in the BCP that are still fan favorites, like Dino Dino jungle, piranha plant pipeline, Luigi’s mansion, and airship fortress, maybe throw some RMX courses in there for the obligatory tour originals that they love to add. It’ll sell like hot cakes.
100% sure is crazy there’s absolutely NO way there gonna drop the exact same game for the third time to add more dlc on top of what they already had. + the fact that the BCP is now over and the Tour is over they’re clearing putting all their attention into the next installment. Mk8d sold well on switch because it’s Mario Kart and it released pretty early on when the switch didn’t have many 1st party games, the same tactics won’t work again. Also the only tour original course that didn’t make it in was Piranha Plant Pipeline and adding trick courses or the reverse tracks is not much for a new game imo

that would make Mario Kart 8 as long-lived as GTA V since it literally would've lived 3 different console generations
