Pools is a horror game developed and published by Tensori for PC with PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X/S releasing at a later date. Pools is a liminal spaces psychological horror game inspired by backrooms.
Thanks for all the likes and support on the horror games lately! Means the world to me fam. Also just a heads up there are no jump scares in this video. With that being said this game made me feel a lot of anxiety for some reason which made me get sick during it. Jump scare games don't really bother me that much but this really got me because it's endless dread. Never had this happen before so I guess I have a fear of liminal spaces now.

I know, but this game and liminal spaces in real life are terrifying. He handled it like a champ. Some of his rage quit videos from bitd are totally what I’d have done. He’d have been justified in noping out.

Fun fact to those who DONT know. The pool rooms are one of the levels that is commonly connected to the back-rooms in games. It’s a rabbit hole of levels with different environments, and some are safe when others do have entities/creatures😅

You’re thinking of aerated water, Brad. It has air constantly pumped into it (most often for water treatment). The air lowers the density of water below that of the human body, unlike normal water. Instead of floating, you sink.
The fear of deep water is called thalassophobia, and that underground abandoned mall is in Florida. Place gives me Toluca Mall vibes. Man, I just wanna go down there and blast the Silent Hill 4 OST over the PA/sound system. If it even still works, that is.

This is absolutely my favourite kind of thing. It takes so much more intelligence to build a game like this then to build a traditional horror game. This game does not supply the terror; instead it creates an environment in which your minds own can bloom.
It’s just walking around. Boredom, yes. Terror, no.
@@thespectralights2072 suit yourself; different folks are scared by different stuff. I find that those of us with active imaginations are much more terrified by things like this than they are by cheap jump scares and cliched spooks.

Also just want to put it out there that I love you content sir. You are amazing.
You can sit in the chairs. When you do, all the noises intensify just like when you stop walking in real life. Your heartbeat slows down you don’t hear your own breathing as much and your awareness of your environment shoots through the roof. That’s the best thing about this game in my opinion. That’s sheer genius.
To me, this game is what would happened if we got transported into M. C. Escher's mind. I find the game aesthetics to be very similar to his art, especially his "Relativity" and "Waterfall" paintings. I can't help but see some of Escher favorite thematics (upside down walls, doors and ladders, water, etc.) in this game.
I didn't see the vid, so I don't know if Brad went that far, but you can effectively find MC Escher stairs in the game.
That shimmery movement effect is *chefs kiss*. that really helps create the illusion that there’s something moving in the corner of your eye, or some distant object looks… Unnatural.
I ain't going to any near to a place like this.. I can see myself getting lost and discover what i shouldn't..

I've been subbed to Brad for years and used to watch religiously. Haven't in a while (yay adulting), but this gave me real nostalgia trips back to Condemned and Cry of Fear. Made me all warm and fuzzy.

A physiological Thriller, “What are you afraid of….?”. You kept mentioning that you felt that you were being followed and something or someone was going to get you. I just admired the view and the unneeded fear that you had for the entire game; it was fun!
Thanks for keeping it real about your anxiety while playing this. Not a lot of folks would publicly admit to how seriously it can affect you mentally and physically, and I think it's really positive to show others it's okay to talk about and a normal part of being human. (Even if we probably shouldn't insist on doing things past the point that they make us physically ill. 😅)
It does have an eerie feeling watching Brad. The anticipation of whats around he corner? Is there something in the water? Changing of lighting....possible jump scare to pull my soul out of my body. Yeh it gives off an uneasy feeling. lol With that said I really enjoy your videos bud.

😂 First I want to say right at the start of this game, after Brad had stopped talking, I thought Brad was shifting shit around loudly trying to get comfortably settled, before he started this game. Than , realize it was the game sounding like pots and pans falling . But thank you again Brad for posting a another special horror game for us. This will probably give me nightmares. 😮😊
I just finished this game yesterday it took me three hours . Only level I was stuck on was with all the stairs and the fake doors . Great game and 10 bucks on steam . Great channel and another great video

I love these games. I've played tons of them, good and bad. This is one of the best. I like both "pools" and "backrooms" but the pools in particular feel like a deep memory that I can't quite recall but makes me feel like I've actually been there before irl.

These just have that feeling of something or someone ominous watching. There usually isn’t but you can’t shake that feeling that you aren’t alone. Old Halo CE multiplayer maps have the same feeling going on.

Oh geez. The whispering sounds like this time I had sleep paralysis and heard fast whispering in the room where I was trying to nap. It was scary as heck and that definitely unlocked an unpleasant memory. Nope nope nope!!! 😣😣😣
I just played through the game this evening, and I really enjoyed it despite my fear and loathing of horror games. I didn't find it disturbing in the least. It was intriguing, especially in the later parts where the environment changes. Yeah, really original game.
as someone with a fear of heights that diving board part at the start of the game gave me a form of anxiety that is indescribable

4:34 that time I was freaked out.....My heart was actually racing while watching this
You miss a lot in chapter 1 since you went strait to the exit, in the start of chapter 5 you are back in chapter 1, the path that lead to chapter 1 are close since it is broken, or rebuilding for future chapter. in Chapter 1 if you did not go through the exit you would have seen that chair strait-up and the clock on the wall still working, and the brick wall would not be brick in chapter 1. And in Chapter 1 you came out of the door of the pile of brick to see the slide that is the exit of chapter 5. Remember in chapter 1 the ladder that went up the hole there is a reason it did that, because liminal man does not want you to go into chapter 2 early before it is ready, in chapter 2 you came out of the hole that the liminal pull the ladder but everything else change and does not look like chapter 1.
Well, that was trippy. All I could think of was the poor cleaning lady scrubbing all that tile grout with a toothbrush, lol
Haven’t finished watching yet but it seems like one of those games where nothing actually happens but you feel on edge constantly 😅 And ordinary objects in weird environments make them very unsettling (looking at you rubber ducky!)

I think if this game had ghost in it something similar to pt Lisa it would be scary and interesting another thing that would make this more interesting is adding puzzles that make you backtrack your locations

I just realized why something seemed so familiar about the location. Thinking back, it really reminds me of those weird baptism areas in certain churches. I was baptized at church in the late 90s and I remember the pool giving me the same weird feeling, plus the off-putting florescent lighting, tile, and water where it feels like it shouldn't be...

Yeah, this game is one of the best definition of Psychology Horror with its eerie atmosphere throughout the entire game. I literally had to multitask while looking for a different video to watch & honestly other things online too just to keep myself from watching this as it was truly unsettling. Not the type of Horror Game for my taste & I can tell that you & surely others were right to not want to play Pools again after having your first experience with the game. Still, awesome showcase & gameplay of it that you showed here on your Channel, Brad.

Your feeling of sickness is almost certainly caused by the motion shown when you walk or move the camera around. I had the same issue with Dead Space, and was never able to play more than 5 min of it. But watching it played by someone else, like this game, is fine for me. I will say the motion of the view when walking and even looking around is amazingly smooth, and I'd love to see more games try to get to this level. Closer to how your eyes see things than the jerkiness of a mouse.
