That was awesome. It reminds me of when they Jocktobered the Phillips file. [Florida douche who tried to steal their newsbreaker idea] One of the callers got through the screener by talking about school policy. They started to bite, and he attacked. Except Mancow is such a dumb fatso, he heard a smart take on a matter, and instead of having an interesting conversation, he fatly hung up so he could babble about it in his dumb words. Poor Ant failed pest basic training.
Killer segment, Karl, and the rest of your WATP crew. Been looking forward to this since you announced it the other day, and you delivered the goods. Thanks! Gonna buy me a membership on my lunch break today.
Before settling on DLR, they offered Stern's show to Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park. One of the few replacement ideas I thought might actually work.
I love that this Darren guy wrote a book on David's show, but can't get a word in because of Erock--who is clearly suffering from an allergic reaction to a bee sting.
I remember really trying to listen to the DLR show between commercials on Howard on Sirius, and I couldn’t ever make it through more than a minute. I love Dave, but the radio show was a mess.

I was bummed that in Chicago, we got stuck with "Rover" - who I never heard of before 2006. Being a huge VH fan, I wanted Diamond Dave. What a trainwreck Dave's show turned out to be - and yet, I managed to listen & download every single one (even his last one), dissecting the shows on DLR message boards - still got it in my archives. Listening to Dave wasn't much different than listening to SJ - just waiting to see how bad it could get. Though Dave never pissed me off like the absolute POS that is SJ does.
I know Howard made boat loads of money but for ego he would have stayed and grown bigger on regular radio . The way his show has become so woke he would have been the liberal Rush
i was in a market where i was able to listen to this at the time. they switched the whole format from rock to talk radio and all the shows were pretty bad like JV & Elvis and the Radio Chick but it lead to to O and A and Ron and Fez being on so it was worth it
Roth's beginning was bad, but not as bad as Alec Baldwin's. I actually thought Dave's last shows were getting better and better and I was sad that it was over.
I was just listening to that! I ended up getting a box set and still have an autographed paper from it with Lazlow, Reed, and Big Wayne (RIP)'s signatures
@dudewelcome holy shit man. I've been wondering if ANYONE in the Dabbleverse knows about that show. I was just remembering how they clowned on DLR and got bumped to Sundays when he came onboard! I also have the boxset! RIP Big Wayne, Reed is still gay!
@@TerminalKitty Haha I miss that show, Anthony's appearances on there got me really into O&A to this day and discovered (and then bought) all of Jim Florentine's Terrorizing Telemarketers albums because of Laz bringing Jim on- LOL Reed and his scooter, what a fruit 😂 Also, long live the baby arm story!
I was a huge radio fan when this guy started. I heard his show from day one. This is because I was in fn jail so I had the time. The show was boring from the first minute, and annoying bc of the fn backing music. I also heard the morning O&A finally came back. Ah the good ol days. Am I right? He was also set up for disaster. They did it on purpose, imo.
What are you saying, we are all old men here? Golly pal, meet me by the jukebox for a pounding. Starting trouble in these parts is just asking for a boner to happen to you.
Hi Karl n crew, this episode has not diminished my gratitude/love for one of the Rocks greatest frontman of all time...let Roth be Roth. Paltrowitz never gave up on that empty cup.
Wow two decades have passed since this who are these podcasts really have to dig down to get any kind of content huh. What Stuttering John isn't doing anything today I mean once that well dried up you guys pretty much don't have anything it took you to go back 20 years just to get some kind of content. You have a whole panel talking about something from 20 years ago. This is absolutely irrelevant. You're breaking down something from almost 20 years ago you guys got to pick up the pace a bit you're slipping big time that's why I like redban way better. Two people doing the same thing you guys do but way better it's actually entertaining not just some 7 years Stuttering John documentary
It's for the purpose of comedy, so the time period it is from is irrelevant. Also they do a weekly show reading down new shows. So they are not digging deep. They are breaking down something they find interesting that you apparently don't. Sooooo maybe leave?
I could listen to stories from this era of radio all day
Thank God for UA-cam.
I remember trying to listen to DLR on my drive to work on long island and I was so happy when O&A replaced him.
No you weren’t
@@clydefrog5609cry pussy
The best DLR radio show was Wiggy trolling everyone with Billy Mirra.
1 of my favorite moments...Ant just being a good caller for the mancow show
That was awesome.

This was erocks big moment to prove he is more of a radio historian than an authored radio historian
He doesnt need to write a book. He was there.
I think he does a great job when conveying history
Before settling on DLR, they offered Stern's show to Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park. One of the few replacement ideas I thought might actually work.
That would’ve been sweet
@Finechug an inspired idea honestly
I love that this Darren guy wrote a book on David's show, but can't get a word in because of Erock--who is clearly suffering from an allergic reaction to a bee sting.
But has this Darren guy ever written a screenplay?
That's no bee sting, that is Hoagie Boy.
Erock’s a dinosaur 🦖 marching marching
Has Darren ever run a business into the ground?
HEY SLOBBO!!!
We're back. And better than ever.
I remember really trying to listen to the DLR show between commercials on Howard on Sirius, and I couldn’t ever make it through more than a minute. I love Dave, but the radio show was a mess.
Karl is learning that he has to cut Erock off at the pass. Otherwise he goes on 28 m babble run.
Because why have the information of what happened.
I like Erock babbling though
Rather hear Erock than Karl’s douche chilling bs
Plz do more radio history stuff like this.
The radio equivalent of The Chevy Chase Show…
Or Magic Johnson! 😂
The Griswold Magic Roth Show
I don’t think I’ve ever met a professional guitarist who needs to know the key to play a simple lick to a song. Been playing for 34 years.
35:52 the "cafe wha?" Is also where Jimi Hendrix was discovered
Great find Karl!! I sorta remember this very short lived show. I'd love a deep dive. After this DLR went on to be a paramedic in NYC, weird.
27:07 Scorch Lee Roth
Erik judging absolutely anyone for their performance on radio is always so hypocritically hilarious. His shows don’t even get 100 viewers 😆

David Lee Roth needs to put that Paramedic training to good use.

I once dated a gal that told me her ideal man was David Lee Roth. Man, I wish I told her about his failed radio career...
lol at steve c fucking up. rip. The pendulum eventually did swing back the other way. Sadly he didnt get to see it.
Still better than SJ
Roth's beginning was bad, but not as bad as Alec Baldwin's. I actually thought Dave's last shows were getting better and better and I was sad that it was over.
I remember when the Lazlow show came in right before the DLR switch.

Always a good time when the Sex Bagel is around.
E-rock Army, boys

Do you go to a museum and do that too?
Roth was the bastard son of Jim Dandy, the lead singer of BOA. Copied him completely
Correct, early DLR was very influenced by Jim
