The 82 run stands as a milestone in the history of the band. I also did it hear mentioned the 2:00 close encounters weaving out of terrapin. Hands down a fantastic show.
Tommy green leaf ( mentioned in the podcast) and myself we’re down in alphabet city chasing the dragon before the show, we ended up accidentally eating around 5 hits of gel each from moon, we were having a hard time figuring out who was playing due to the new songs, we had a mild freak out, we ended up at a party on Central Park east swinging from hammocks and eating bagels with cream cheese. Tommy G was literally an angel on earth, I met him at the long beach shows, he had broken leg. The sprinklers went off underneath him, so I picked him up and carried him to dryer lands, we were friends for ever after that. I miss him.
I Loved the simplicity of Brent's keys in the beginning of his tenure when it was just the B-3 and the Fender Rhodes. It took me a while to adjust to all the newer keys sounds in 82 and beyond. High class issues of course.
Question for anyone who may remember: When did Dan Healy start and end the low wattage FM sound board show broadcasts? Mid to late 80's? I remember it was short lived, but as a taper I also remember that service being handy for not having to lug around mics, and a stand, and not having to be anywhere in particular in the venue to get great recording. I could be anywhere in the venue and could tune in (88.7 usually?) the soundboard mix on SONY FM stereo Walkman, and connect the stereo headphone output directly to the my Sony D6 cassette recorder via a 1/8" TRS male plug to stereo RCA cable. Maybe this was a way to address the overwhelming demand for floor space required for the growing number of tapers? Who knows why it started and why it ended? Maybe the FCC required a broadcast licence even though it was low wattage broadcast?
Am really enjoying these DeadCasts on MSG PLUS all the killer MSG Shows popping up on many of my Dead Tuber Channs Thank You Charlie Miller, Tapers, and Streamers for the steady stream of Grateful Dead every day 🌹 Like MSG 9-18-87 & 9-20-88 both shows plus a few years of Daily Dead & JGB Shows.. found on Elaine Oliveras YT Chan
I really generally like these, but sometimes I'll hear the narrator say something and spit out my drink. Brent Mydland's improvisational style was *not* *as* *aggressive* *?!?!?!?!* as Keith Godchaux's?! Are you out of your fucking mind, dude?
Starship? Survivor? Hell! If I wanted to listen to sell-out corporate rock I'd... okay, okay only joking. Flavour of the '80s and another great Deadcast with a ton of Jerry in the mix. Thank you.
The deeper we go, the brighter we get.✌️

Can you guys do a series on the stage hands/rodies?
I lived all that, although I am a Philly guy. The best of times for sure.
