The 737 MAX may be hated upon for its safety record, but the Airbus A320 was also controversial when released. It had a couple of fatal crashes like AF296 and Air Inter 148 itself when it was still young
sry does no one see the difference between the "safety" record of the max - and the safety record of the *updated max* ..? imagine they'd *not* have grounded the max for a long time until the remake of mcas..
@@robjustil8722 _sadly, true._ because, the mcas was controlled by the manufactured software, NOT by the pilot. - and it was no "error" but it was crime, legally.
Fun Fact: Alaska Airlines has operated at least one 737 in each series. Including: the 737 200, the 737 400, the 737 700, 800, 900, and 900ER, and the Boeing 737 MAX 8, and MAX 9.
The reason why the 737 max is suffering from so many issues is because the 737 platform has been stretched so much that it’s trying to fill the gap of the 757 when the 737 was originally built to compete with a regional jet. The A320neo is far better off because it’s only on its second generation. Boeing should have redone the 757 instead
737 max is a great plane I flown it a few times before, I mean sure it has its flaws but that's because of mistakes from wrong people plus Boeing is trying to get back on feet and with the strikes ending is one way to start a recovery. 😇
The reason why the 737 had so many variants is because its core dimensions were essentially perfect, not too big and not too small. It was a powerhouse for most domestic flights in the US and was more than capable of flying cross country. Real jack of all trades. Although this aircraft had one fatal flaw and that was its height, back then having the engines low down was great for inspection and also for loading in cargo for real middle of nowhere airports with a lack of equipment. It was an easy craft to deal with. Eventually it became an issue as the engine technology for efficiency demanded BEEG engines with huge bypass ratios, boeing begrudgingly crammed engines under the wing despite cutting it waaay too close to the ground clearance. You can see it with the 737-900 engines where it has a wide bottom and not a perfect circle like engines are supposed to be. I'm pretty sure that was Boeing's limit for the 737 at that point but womp womp airbus had made the next a320 neo with BEEG engines and enough ground clearance cuz their planes were high up. Airbus started selling like hotcakes and boeing did a hail mary and made another engine but pushed it forward and up which put it above the plane's wing. This screwed up the center of mass the the plane started tilting downwards. Boeing in the pinch that they were decided to just slap a simple software patch which uhh just titled the plane down? (lmao) when it tilted upwards. I think you know after this part of the story.
imho, most of us do NOT judge against the max - but we judge against the REASONS of those crashes. that cheating way that software was intended, made, and introduced.. ALSO, the fact that they did not immediately ground and reconstruct the max after the *FIRST* crash..
The 737 is a legendary airplane, but I think Boeing should finally make a totally refreshed, new replacement for it. The airframe is over 60 years old, just let bro retire😭
Yes, the one sepicific airline DID make a replacement, the 757, but they retired it due to the fuel-wasting engines. I think they should make a MAX series for the 757 (remember to make it safe!) and produce a bunch of those.
The 737 is my favourite plane. And while the A320 is more technologically advanced, the 737’s iconic “square” nose and it being short makes it look kinda cute. While the max has some issues, the NG series is definitely among the best planes ever designed.
Hi ice sorry that I haven't really been watching I've just been dealing with stuff..... I hope you know your videos are helping me with my depression I appreciate you and keep going please. 😊
0:30 I showed this picture to my friend in my 8th PD. class at school which is around the time you uploaded this video 😕 Also the documentary on Netflix about the 737 max's called Downfall: the case against Boeing🙄 is really interesting... I've seen it twice ❤
I would say that, to a certain extent, not only the 737's reputation has been spoiled, but also Boeing's. As that the two 737max crashes was for the same cause, so people would blame boeing (which I don't think they're really wrong). However, when you think of it as a whole, it's not really possible to replace ALL of the 737s just because it's got two fatal crashes for two main reasons. 1), as the video talked about, of how MANY 737s are produced and operated; 2) relying on entirely airbus, embraer, comac etc., would be difficult, as [some] airlines wouldn't want to switch to these manufactures as it would require more training etc.
"Boeing 737 max is a very safe airplane" Very interesting statement. EDIT: I don't give a dang if its safer than many aircraft, and its very easy to tell this is a joke, so please stop telling me.
The NG series was quite streched close to airframe limits, even tho they were best among the 737 series, the MAX was streched beyond that, that's why they needed to add MCAS, so they should've probably updated the 757 instead, or just design a new aircraft
atp the max isn't suffering the issues that it's still somewhat known for; it's a safe airplane and i honestly hope it doesn't get screwed over by another critical issue, now that ortberg's in charge of boeing

I still don’t understand why they dropped the eyebrow windows, they increased visibility and the planes look a lot more mid without them
I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the brightness in the cockpit like if the sun is shining in the eyebrow windows, it could blind the pilot
