The lyrics to this song have been misquoted all over the Internet. Please... Based on a songbook that was copyrighted in 1969, the lyrics are as follows: And when it's over And as you light your cigarette Feelin' much older Knowin' that there was no regret Touchin' your shoulder Feelin' the joy in what we've done As we've sailed into the sun With our hearts and souls as one Feelin' free as the sea And when it's over Gazin' into your gentle eyes Pullin' you closer Knowin' what's there was set on fire / Knowin' what's there was satisfied (Both versions appear in early publications of the lyrics) Both of us bolder Now that there's nothin' left to hide As we reach to touch the sky On the love we played so high Oh, feelin' free as the sea Oh, as we sailed into the sun With our hearts and souls as one Feelin' free as the sea If you listen carefully, there is no doubt that these lyrics are the correct ones. Not to mention that they make more sense than the words that are spread all over the Internet. This is a song about two people who have just made love - maybe for the first time... :)
I hope everyone else will also come back here to listen from time to time to this ultimate powerful song and the rest of this album The most heartfelt album i have ever heard for sure! 💕
The most beautiful male voice I'd ever heard. So mesmerizing -his singing practically wails. I love it, and him. Sweet soul. How is he not famous? Definitely deserves much more recognition and love.
No song at Woodstock has this same WOW factor. I found this boss song on the Rhino Entertainment new Woodstock 50 Back to the Garden albums. I feel this song best captured the "something in the air" Woodstock atmosphere. When I listen to this song, I go right back to that weekend in August 1969. You can never capture that again, but can get close to it in this song. Note to Bert's son: please ask Rhino Entertainment to release this as a single.

Almost correct. The line "Knowin' what's there was set on fire" is not correct though, he sings something different, but I cannot make out the last word he sings. But he sings something like "Knowin' what's there inside of ...". The word "inside" is clearly hearable. And the last word has to rhyme to "eyes"
I totally agree with Tony C. Unfortunately he wasn't as successful as Donovan or as widely praised as Tim Buckley... a pity, he gave us just a few albums, but they are beautiful. Recommended!

And when it's over
And as you light your cigarette
Feelin' much older
Knowin' that there was no regret
Touchin' your shoulder
Feelin' the joy in what we've done
As we've sailed into the sun
With our hearts and souls as one
Feelin' free as the sea
And when it's over
Gazin' into your gentle eyes
Pullin' you closer
Knowin' what's there was set on fire / Knowin' what's there was satisfied (Both versions appear in early publications of the lyrics)
Both of us bolder
Now that there's nothin' left to hide
As we reach to touch the sky
On the love we played so high
Oh, feelin' free as the sea
Oh, as we sailed into the sun
With our hearts and souls as one
Feelin' free as the sea

One of the greatest songs ever produced. Such an amazing vocalist

This is great. A beautiful melancholy. His voice and spirit seem to transcend male or female, like he's some kind of angel.
Completely get what your saying, a total one off. Just on another lever all together
He deserved way more fame than he received for his magical music ❤
This song is so 60s pysacheli, so dreamy, so imaginary, so nostalgic, love it!!!!!
I adore this man. Utterly gorgeous music came out of him. He should've had the chance to be a household name.
Bert Sommer, what a talent and what a voice! : )
Holy hell....this is breathtaking!!!
I really wanted this album to be on Spotify 😔❤️

@@melllv Ha ha, yeah. That seems totally clear to me too. Why all the confusion?
....Feelin' free...as the Sea...🌬🌊🏊♀️🌊🐬🌊🏄♀️🌊🐋🌊
This is really great. I'd only heard the Vagrants version before
