Whoopsie Daisies! I remember this expression from the movie "Gangs of New York" when Bill the butcher throws a knife to this girl and almost slith her throat.... Great performance from Daniel Day-Lewis.
The best teacher ever....motivating and fascinating ....it is always a pleasure to watch your videos because you allow us to learn quite a few practical daily expressions... keep on like this mate
Fun fact: actual scientific testing has been done in regards to the phrase "like the back of my hand." Pictures were taken of the test subjects' hands, left and right, both the back and the palm side. The result? All could instantly identify which photo was the one of the back of their hand. The palm side, not so much. Great video, and happy birthday in advance (exactly one month away, I haven't forgotten).
Thank you Papa English! Very useful expressions learn in a funny way, nice drawings and references (friends, strangers things 😄) Only Okey Dokey is well known in France.
Thanks a lot about your great lesson my amazing teacher i would rather you kept it up coz I've been your subscriber for a while i gotta actually understand more
In the 90’s I used to listen the British Punk band “The Toy Dolls”, and I remember they used a lot of typical British expressions. 😂👍 So lovely, I miss this period. 🤗♥️🇬🇧 PS: and the Ska band “Madness” was awesome too. 🥰
Strange... I never heard any of these :D Thank you! I needed them so much, because I love to use similar expressions in my native language all the time ^-^
Hi, Aly :) Thanks for the video. İn my first day in London, I felt like a fish out of water. İn the following months, I was at liberty to say:'' I know the city like the back of my hand''
@@papateachme OK, thank you to let me know so fast! I really enjoy your lessons especially when I feel a bit sad: they make me smile and even laugh which means you are brilliant as a teacher AND as a doctor! :)
😆 You make me laugh a lot, studying English vocab is no longer boring!.. I remember everything because of your jokes, and your drawings convey the emotion so well. You rock! 😁👏👏👏

I hung the christmas decorations in my office the other day and on my first try the letters spelling happy holidays were wonky 🎄⭐
Great example! Did you straighten it after?

Oppsy-daisy = Whoosie daisy (child way)
Do British people say Blimey! or Well I never!?
❤
Would be good to know the derivation, otherwise all these 'expressions' are more of a gobbledygook.
PS. Love your stuff about Cockney, dude!
I thought "you didn't learn AT school"
Can be both ✌️

CRIKEY!
Crikey is to avoid using the Lord's name in vain. Like oh fudge instead of...😋 I learned both in school.
I would add 'easy peasy lemon squeezy' to this list. it sounds funny
