That man made me cry hearing him talk about how he wanted to die because he was struggling to take care of his family. To think that someone could actually consider wanting to die because they don't know how they will survive... that is heartbreaking. There are many people who consider drastic measures because of poverty. I know a woman who is homeless and disabled so she cannot get work. She lost the use of both legs yet lives in an abandoned car to keep her dog. She told me she feels that the end is coming for her and she only wants to make sure her little dog gets a safe home. The government only seems to help those with children. She came from an abusive marriage and is 64 years old. I have tried to help all I can but her medication is so expensive. I feel she is lost.

I am 53 years old, I work 2 jobs and I am fortunate enough to have a place to live now. 3 years ago I was living in my car with my dog, a cat and my partner. Thank God it was only for a short time. A couple months can feel like forever!! I could not get rid of my animals to have an easier time to find an apartment. My pets are just as important as someones children. Many people can not understand that and I certainly can't make anyone understand that. It comes down simply to love, respect and compassion. All qualities I'd much rather have than something that would allow me to throw my pets away to make a situation easier for me. Life isn't easy. But life is about love. You and your friend are in my thoughts and prayers. May you both find strength, love and peace.

What you do inspired me to pay attention to those around me. I went shopping last week and saw some hungry girls begging. I bought them some rice and I felt good.
Just by the way Charles was dressed, you can tell that this was once a man with great pride. His intersection with Bi probably changed his perception of Black people. And I used to think that anyone in poverty can just take themselves out but it’s obvious that it’s mot always that easy. Some people really have no way out. These videos are opening my eyes to the world, what I take for granted and how many of our brothers and sisters around the world really have no help.
It is so sad to see families struggling like this. I wish governments around the world should do more to help their people. I feel this man's pain. I pray to our almighty God to help these kinds of people. Bless your soul Mr. Phakati!

As a child I often had this unquenchable desire to help people. But when I saw BI Phakati, I was super excited to even do more for the needy even if it means giving my last for them. A bright and brilliant suggestion. If BI has enough money to buy the land and this people who beg can work on the farm for daily or weekly pay, in the end the food will still be shared among them and they can used the wages for other household utility bills and other essentials. MHO.

I tried to help as much as I could but I simply didn't have enough money or time to help everybody. I was a single mom almost my whole life, raised them from my youngest age of 2 months. Their father didn't pay maintenance for years and years. One year, i didn't have any food and i was struggling so hard, and prayed to God for help, this stranger came to my apartment, and brought me tons and tons of canned food for my children. I was in shock, i could not believe what happened. It also was a day before my oldests birthday . On his birthday i couldn't give him any thing, like so many times before, but this woman stopped in front of the apartments and walked up to me, and gave me a gift card to give to my son. And i did give it to him, and he went and bought a cool tshirt and shorts that he liked very much. Today they're out of the house and have their own lives, but its something that I will never forget.
U are a man who has the means and the heart to make a difference in this world! Doing God's work helping the down and out must be very gratifying. He was so energized being able to buy food that he probably hasn't had In months. In a matter of an hour this man filled with so much pain, went from wanting to end it all to celebrating his daughters birthday buying gifts for them the next day! Amazing act of kindness!

I wonder if BI could establish a community garden where the able bodied folks he helps could unite and work together towards self sustainability. Some assistance from experienced farmers/business people could go a long way to establishing a business with produce, honey and animals. Just a thought. Bless up BI.
Good idea but he's a busy man and he's doing the best he can. There are about 55 million people in S A, maybe some of them can start gardens in areas where there are none.
A bright and brilliant suggestion. If BI has enough money to buy the land and this people who beg can work on the farm for daily or weekly pay, in the end the food will still be shared among them and they can used the wages for other household utility bills and other essentials. MHO.

I tried to help as much as I could but I simply didn't have enough money or time to help everybody. I would go home at the end of my shift absolutely Brokenhearted at the pain and suffering people were going through.

I was a single mom almost my whole life, raised them from my youngest age of 2 months. Their father didn't pay maintenance for years and years.
One year, i didn't have any food and i was struggling so hard, and prayed to God for help, this stranger came to my apartment, and brought me tons and tons of canned food for my children.
I was in shock, i could not believe what happened.
It also was a day before my oldests birthday . On his birthday i couldn't give him any thing, like so many times before, but this woman stopped in front of the apartments and walked up to me, and gave me a gift card to give to my son.
And i did give it to him, and he went and bought a cool tshirt and shorts that he liked very much. Today they're out of the house and have their own lives, but its something that I will never forget.
The kindest human who I've come across. What a great soul pastor BI possesses ♥

He was so energized being able to buy food that he probably hasn't had In months. In a matter of an hour this man filled with so much pain, went from wanting to end it all to celebrating his daughters birthday buying gifts for them the next day! Amazing act of kindness!

What a shame that so many are suffering!! I can’t help but cry! I’m totally bedridden & don’t have anything to help. Oh how I wish I could help. I live in the US & can’t get any help! This old world is in a horrible mess!! I suffer 24/7 & can’t get any help. It’s as if no one cares at all. I only get a little over a hundred dollars a month & no one can live on that.
