@Belladonna Noir OK I'll say the movie is good, but stop acting surprised of a Disney movie for talking mature thing because despite of so many Disney classics hawing dead parents it doesn't make it any less serious, but I do understand that sometimes people resonate with the deadbeat dad scenario more. @@danceslikeratigan4008 While it wasn't as dark as The Hunchback of Notre Dame, it was one out of a few Disney films that featured death, outside of the main villains for that matter. And since this film features the real relationship between Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty, it is a tad dark.

Sukara24 I agree it’s so underrated the tour guides didn’t hear of it. Some of the hotel staff did, maybe disney hates the movie it’s hard to find the Blue ray
I rank it right up with Aladdin as being one of the most visually impressive and beautiful to watch. Plus it has one of the most underrated Villain songs of all time.
Treasure Planet is a classic! Beautiful story and great character personalities :) Same for Oliver and Company, Atlantis, and The Black Cauldron! Kids these days just don't understand the pull of hand-drawn animations.
The Great Mouse Detective is honestly one of my favorite movies of all time. Beautiful art, solid story and plot, lovable characters, who wouldn't like this film?
Here’s some of my favorite underrated Disney films 1. Dinosaur 2. Brother Bear 3. The Emperor’s New Groove 4. Atlantis: The Lost Empire 5. The Arisrocats 6. Pocahontas 7. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 8. Kronk’s New Groove 9. The Wild 10. The Princess and the Frog
@@davidgn40 Wait woahhhhh really? Well at least that's a good thing that brother bear isn't as underrated as the fox and the hound, btw the fox and the hound was a great movie.
Not to burst your bubble, but in my opinion Sword in the Stone was horribly adapted and was forgettable due to the villain being horrible and if you take out the Sword pulling it’s not even King Arthur anymore.
juan carlos vasquez mendoza funny enough I remember having the movie and I do remember saying I loved that movie as a kid but I literally remember nothing from it :/ it's been years since I watched it might need to Re-visit it
They didn't do enough marketing for it and it came out the same time as Harry Potter so it failed in the box office. It is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Because the creators spent along long time trying to create the movie. Than it was a box office failure. Not a movie that no none saw but a movie that was expensive to make. It was very good though.
Rhianna Barr-Beaumont I have never read Oliver Twist despite being a major reader. But what I love most about Oliver and Company is that it’s the one animated Disney movie where cats and dogs are both represented and are actually friends. I loved that when I was little because I have always had a cat or two and a dog at the same time. I liked that it didn’t force me to pick between the two like having to choose between 101 Dalmatians and Aristocats had done to me.
@@sleepypanda9374 Its dark cause of the opening sequence when Hiram ( Olivias father) is abducted. Also when Ratigan feeds Bartholomew to Felicia. There are a few jumpscares and other creepy moments like when they were in the toy store. The worst was the final battle at big ben where Ratigan goes rabid and beats the heck out of Basil. That was pretty gruesome and Graphic. I think its pretty dark but theres much worse.
Some people don't know that Disney made The Rescuers or The Fox and the Hound either. Just because Disney animation wasn't the same quality in the 70s and 80s as it was before doesn't mean that it wasn't still good. Most of Disney's material between Walt's death and The Little Mermaid was actually quite good, but because critics didn't like them, they have largely been forgotten. (In fairness, the subliminal topless woman scene in The Rescuers was a big factor in why that film is so unpopular as well.) And let's not forget that Disney animation was starting to decline even in Walt's lifetime. The Sword in the Stone was Disney's second to last animated feature made BEFORE Walt died (The Jungle Book was the last). I suspect it had something to do with the decision to replace hand-inked cels with xerography. Sleeping Beauty was mostly hand inked, but they tested Xeroxing on the dragon, and starting with 101 Dalmatians Disney began using xerography exclusively. (I suspect this was in part a cost-cutting decision, and the crew generally didn't like it--while xerography is cool in that you can clearly see pencil outlines, it often has a rough and scratchy look, while hand inking allowed for more colored outlines that looked much smoother on screen.)
The Fox & the Hound, & The Sword In the Stone are very underrated. I still believe The Hunchback of Notre Dame isn't given enough respect. But good list overall!
Treasure Planet was a really good movie. I don't understand why the critics disliked it so much. It's basically the future...from the perspective of a 19th century kid. That's really cool
I totally did not expect "Wreck-It Ralph" to be counted as an underrated Disney movie because of it becoming quite a hit among old-school gamers such as myself; Not to mention it's also kinda hard to find a copy of the movie on Blu-ray or DVD nowadays.
Definitely. I was absolutely petrified by him for years. The movie has action, romance, adventure, laughs, frights, and even some tear-jerking moments. Ps. You probably are already aware, but if you really enjoyed the movie you should try the books it's adapted from, The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander.
Here is my list: 1) Black Cauldron 2) Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad 3) Sword In the Stone 4) Robin Hood 5) The Aristocats 6) Soludos Amigos 7) Mickey and the Beanstalk 8) The Great Mouse Detective 9) Oliver and Company 10) Mickey’s Christmas Carol There are a handful more that could just as easily be in the top 10. Back when animation was hand drawn cells!
Griffin Bonacci Saludos Amigos! That one is also a lot of fun! I love the Three Caballeros. José Carioca though is my favorite of the three. He’s very charming!
The Great Mouse Detective is one of my favorite Disney movie, it definitely deserved more credit Edit: Same thing with Black Cauldron, I absolutely loved that movie! I also feel like Princess and the Frog has gotten a little more credit which is really good because I love that movie too!
Are you serious??? Oliver & Company only gets an honorable mention?? The Aristocats, Oliver & Company, Robin Hood, and Lady & The Tramp are the 4 best Disney movies EVER!
Lady and the tramp isn't underrated at all nor is Robin Hood. they maybe in our generation but not interms of disney as whole. i don't really like oliver and company and i am of that generation. it just didn't work perfectly. great visuals and music...just doesn't work. it's how i feel about atlantis. i love the story concept. i love the visuals but something doesn't work for me.
Whiskey Black sorry but... treasure planet far surpasses those plastic films... It was a Steampunk movie. It was original. No dystopia, no apocalyptic future, no gloomy, or anything like that now. Neither princesses nor evildoers who sing. He had funny points and his idea was also born from literature. The father's relationship with Jim. It was galactic steampunk. I gave arguments; but you assure without exact reasons.
Oliver and Co. kickstarted the renaissance in my opinion. It made money-they realized that they were going somewhere with these musicals and-COME ON DANCING DOGS!
I was wondering if someone would actually mention it. I would say it's #2 underrated after the Great Mouse Detective, and only because Disney's corporate greed sabotaged the crap out of it
After the death of Walt, Disney started to move away from his ideals because $$$. They cut the budget on animation in favour of live action and did some really bad changes. For example there was this stupid idea that colouring eyes with white was too expensive so they would paint them in the skin colour, just look at the first "the Rescuers". One of the animators, Don Bluth, was so angered by this that he bought his own equipment to prove that it was just some weird misconception the studio executives had about animation, and he was told to fall in line and do as they say. They eventually came back to making proper eyes, but there was more. They ordered the animators to keep the shading on characters very basic to cut costs. They forced a minimum number of songs even if it wouldn't fit with the movie. They would impose drastic last minute changes to the story, requiring entire sequences to be reanimated and often harming the movie in the process. As far as tFatH goes, all of this can be seen here: the basic shading, the forced songs ("elimination" lol) and the changes (Chief is confirmed to have died in the original script and they even had his funeral scene animated, that's why everyone acts as if he died and he rarely appears after the train scene). The removal of Chiefs death was like a trigger pull. Many Disney employees called it what it was, a sabotage of their work. They argued that the movie doesn't work if Chief lives because it takes away all the motivation Copper has to hate Tod, but nobody would listen. In an instant some of Disney's best animators, lead by Don Bluth, left Disney to create "Don Bluth" animation studios, the only company to ever rival Disney. Their first full-length movie, "the secret of NIMH", had about half the budget of tFatH, yet it looks as if it was the other way around. Their animation quality surpassed Disneys by a landslide, and NIMH continues to be considered one of the best animated movies ever made. Unfortunately, they had some bad, bad luck and that's the main reason why today Disney is still in buisness while Don Bluth was closed down. Yet, the direct competition from Don Bluth forced Disney to re-think it's approach and that's how the Disney Renaissance begun.
How in the HELL is "Wreck it Ralph" considered Underrated? Also can we make a list of most "Overrated Disney Movies" and have it be 10 spots of "Frozen"? K thanks.
+Damian Charleston Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie when I was a kid (it was my all time favorite until Aladdin and the Lion King came out). But I just didn't see it as the "100% perfect"; Disney movie everyone else claimed it to be. So, while the movie was good and I still enjoy it to this day, the -rabid-fans ruined it by overpraising it so much that any other Disney movie that came after it would be treated like dirt and "not as good as the greatest classic Disney film 'Beauty and the Beast'";to them (and belittle anyone else who doesn't praise Beauty and the Beast the same way)--these comments were even also made by some popular youtube reviewers who made fun of flaws in other Disney movies BESIDES Beauty and the Beast (which they claim has zero flaws--even when it does). So, maybe to me it wasn't so much as overrated but overpraised--or something along those lines. >.>
I've heard of it, seen it, own it, and love it. In fact, I have heard of, seen, and/or own all of these movies and more. I'm close to practically being the King of Disney Nerds. The Black Cauldron is also in fact my favorite Disney animated film, along with the Horned King being my favorite Disney Villain. I've been searching for a Top 10 Disney Villains list with the Horned King at least included somewhere, but I've had no such luck.
great whiteshark The sequel wouldn’t have been as good. Disney always hands their sequels to a less experienced crew and it shows... what I think would have been better would have been the animated series that Disney had planned for it.
There was a second movie in the works but it got canned after the Treasure Planet's initial release. But there's the videogame, "Treasure Planet: Battle at Procyon", it is a sequel, and it is actually a solid game. You command ships in 3D environment but on a 2D(flat) plane. You can get it on steam.
+PaleoSteno uhh no it's not, the movie sucked because basil is a cunt no way around it! basil is a cunt now way around it! let me repeat that one more time, basil is a cunt no way around it!
+Power Jusho That be awesome!!! They may surprise us. Only new place we know for sure is the Tangled world. Who'd you think they include in that world for your party?
All I have to say about the Great Mouse Detective: Vincent Price made Ratigan the perfect villain- charming, smarmy, smart, and delightfully evil. Just...goddamn, he WAS Ratigan.
+Jessica Ustas (Kureji Neko) I think Vincent Price himself said that Ratigan was one of his favorite roles. You could tell he had fun. They need to do an underrated Disney villain list hehe.
+Jessica Ustas (Kureji Neko) It's funny that he wanted to be in a Disney movie and he got his chance and became someone to remember. Great villain in a great movie!
Patrick Shields Your opinion. A poor attempt at a civilized one, but an opinion nonetheless. Just like the Sherlock movies with RDJ, it was a fun movie with some quirky moments and got dark when it needed to be.
Patrick Shields Uh dude, have you even read ANY of the Sherlock Holmes books? Because Basil is a real good personification of him. This is what the movie is- a take on the book series: Basil is the arrogant, selfish ass who will do whatever he needs to in order to find the truth (Sherlock) and Ratigan is a smart, charming, vindictive psychopath (ie Professor Moriarty the criminal mastermind/archenemy of Holmes from the books). If you're going to dispute something, at least research it. Edit: Fuck you for saying that about Vincent Price. You truly no nothing about his impact on the film industry
The Aristocats honestly should get more fame than 101 Dalmatians should. Not to be rude, but we are talking about the last film Walt touched. Not a lot of people give it the credit it should have gotten. They did cancel the sequel in 2008 sadly but the live action comes out in a year so I’m hyped.
There was a sequel canceled? Boy fuck Disney then. I agree that it does deserve more recognition but not more than 101 Dalmatians. Aristocats did have a good story, but not nearly as good as 101. That story put a total twist on me when I was a kid because I didn't expect so much action from a cartoon that old. If Aristocats had a bit more interesting story then yes. Right now I can't say that I could say it was better. But I see what you mean.
In 2015, I wrote a letter to DisneyToon Studios about The Aristocats and to tell them to make The Aristocats sequel. A few weeks or months later, they sent me two cards of The Aristocats, a letter from them, and my letter back. Disney was going to make an animated series of The Aristocats, but it was canceled too. I would like to see a live-action remake of The Aristocats.
Heh, I'm glad "The Great Mouse Detective" made this list! Disney often acts like it doesn't exist... Another Disney animated feature that seems very underrated these days is the original "The Rescuers."
+wileyk209zback "The Rescuers" (the original) ranks among my favorites. It was the first movie that I got to take my little brother to see, so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. I LOVED the story line, the characters (Penny will always hold a piece of my heart) and the music. I cry every time I watch it.
Treasure Planet, to this day, is my most favorite Disney movie ever. Hands down. It's so sad how much it's underrated. It needs more attention, along with so many. If I was famous, I would bring attention to so many underrated movies... like damn
Ive always adored Treasure Planet, too. Extremely underrsted, even among movies that are already underrated. I dreamed of hunting for treasure in space like Jim.
I pickled it up cheap on Blu ray and I enjoyed it but I really do not understand why the female captain spent most of the movie injured. I thought she was fabulous and the movie would have been so much better if she and Jim had teamed up thru the whole movie.
Dinosaur was made in 2000?! Holy crap the CG still looks amazing. I also remember going to Disney and being able to see art for The Rescuer's Down Under and MAN is that movie beautiful!
Exactly, why the hell did they imply that it is? It was massively successful and a sequel is coming up, so.. Maybe not a game-changer, but underrated? I don't think so..
These are User voted lists, they don’t make themselves. The bar tons of people who make and vote on the lists on watchmojo.com , so those people voted it in the top 15.
Is so! It lost at the cinema when Disney made the mistake (again) of letting Pixar release Brave in the same year, and then lost again at the Oscars to one of Disney's weakest and most unoriginal films ever (i.e. Frozen). As Merida says in WiR 2: "If that's not pure mess, I don't know what is."
Great Mouse Detective is easily one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. The only movie that MAYBE beats it out is Hunchback of Notre Dame. And I love Atlantis, don't get me wrong, but that movie is kind of a hot mess. Primarily the fact that the main conflict of the story is based on the premise that somehow an entire civilization just... forgot how to read their own language. Not "lost the knowledge through the generations", because they're all functionally immortal (see: Kida's dad, Not Spock, who is alive during the sinking and is still alive and ruling thousands of years later when they find the city). Just... they forgot how to read. If you look at the writing credits, there's like, six or seven people credited, which is likely how it ended up so messy. Treasure Planet is also an incredible movie, though, and while most of the rest I can see slipping under the radar, I never understood why Treasure Planet got ignored so hard.
did you know that The Great Mouse Detective SAVED Disney, it had boasted them out of the Dark Ages and brought them into the renaissance, Disney had taken the money they got from The Great Mouse Detective and made The Little Mermaid, which then created the renaissance. so yeah, an UNDERRATED FILM saved Disney and basically made all the movies we now love, such as, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and The Beast, and The Lion King. THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE SAYS YOU'RE WELCOME DISNEY!!!!
I forgot about this movie!! I watched it alllll the time when I was a kid and I remembered that there was a movie that I watched with a mouse, but I couldn't remember what it was! I'm so excited now I have to go watch it!
Atlantis, Tangled and Pocahontas are criminally underrated! Unfortunately for Pocahontas it was because a ton of people expected a documentary, but I’m part Native American myself and honestly this is one I watch every year. Its undoubtedly in my top 3. I don’t care how the story differs, Pocahontas and John Smith are the one of the best couples EVER and the fact they’re the only couple that had to say goodbye is just heartbreaking and makes me so mad we never got an ACTUAL sequel to their romance!
same here, I grew up with great mouse detective, aristocats, rescuers down under, oliver and company, black cauldron, and the goofy movie. Though I have noticed a lot of people talking about goofy movie recently, I even found a powerline shirt at target.
Hunchback is a great film. It’s hard to see why it didn’t get on this list. But despite being a fan of both Hunchback and Black Cauldron, I think the REAL underrated and MISUNDERSTOOD Disney film is MUCH older than ANY of these.
Treasure Planet really spoke to me as a teen; never getting anything right, plans always blowing up in my face, etc. I watched that movie literally every day for almost a month straight.
BB's OST, Atlantis story and Treasure planet 2D-3D merged animation made me wish for more. I wish these 2D fantastic movies were premiered in the theaters, not those cheap 3D movies.
+OMGcookie Yeah, I've seen The black cauldron now, it's pretty good, definetly worth the watch. I regret not seeing it sooner. But Treasure Planet is still my favorite. Too bad it didn't get a second movie 😟
+Terra Nova Personally, I don't mind that we don't have a very embarrassing second movie that kinda ruins the franchise, like it happened to Atlantis, The Emperor's New Groove and countless others...
Here's a list of some other Disney movies that also deserves more recognition (including Pixar films): - A Bug's Life - Bolt - Brave - Make Mine Music - Peter Pan In Return To Never Land (this is one of the only Disney sequels that is actually amazing in my opinion) - Ratatouille (not a lot of people seem to talk about this movie anymore) - Tarzan - The Fox And The Hound - The Hunchback Of Notre Dame (this is their best animated film in my opinion) I haven't seen the other package films from the 40's yet, but i *think* most of them are pretty good if i already like Make Mine Music
I’m 30 now and some nights I still have dreams of getting on stage during an assembly and tearing it up like Powerline! The Goofy Movie was so influential to me when I was a kid. Stand Out is easily my most played song of all time.
Nabzarella Dare hunchback is shit. Overrated asf don’t no wtf you’re talking about. Tarzan gets the credit it deserves. Robin Hood isn’t underrated just not known by this generation. Hercules also gets the credit it deserves.

Almost as beautiful: all the other Disney movies, that almost no one knows.. The fox and the hound, masterpiece! Robin hood, so good! Oliver and company!!! And so on 💕

The Great Mouse Detective is honestly one of my favorite movies of all time. Beautiful art, solid story and plot, lovable characters, who wouldn't like this film?
Also great music !
Atlantis and Treasure Planet were my two favorite Disney movies as a kid
Ryan Carter me too
Ryan Carter I've never seen either and I really want to!
Ryan Carter Atlantis is my favorite of all time.
Ryan Carter Atlantis was like my life and still is 💎
Gamediac Atlantis has one if the most beautiful princesses ever.
Treasure Planet was my childhood 😭❤️
Yep
Same as well

@@user-op8ge3kq6s what did you think about the emperor's New school
I see a disturbing lack of Treasure Planet
The Fox and the Hound is definitely more underrated than most of these
Yes! It's a definitely a gem and I can't believe how underappreciated it is.
Yes it's very underrated
David GN40 Not compared to brother bear though, barley anyone knows brother bear ;-;
@@naru6848 I disagree. Brother Bear seems way more popular. It even has a video game based on it. The Fox and the Hound never got that.
@@davidgn40 Wait woahhhhh really? Well at least that's a good thing that brother bear isn't as underrated as the fox and the hound, btw the fox and the hound was a great movie.
I think the sword in the stone is underatted.
juan carlos vasquez mendoza me too! Glad I'm not the only one!
Not to burst your bubble, but in my opinion Sword in the Stone was horribly adapted and was forgettable due to the villain being horrible and if you take out the Sword pulling it’s not even King Arthur anymore.
juan carlos vasquez mendoza funny enough I remember having the movie and I do remember saying I loved that movie as a kid but I literally remember nothing from it :/ it's been years since I watched it might need to Re-visit it
Who who what what?
Love that movie!
Hunchback of notre dame should be here .
Love that movie. XD.
in terms of quality vs popularity it is definitely the most underrated, but it's still better appreciated than these 10
Sloom Sama yesss!!! My favorite Disney movie! It's definitely under appreciated
thats my favorite disney movie
Sloom Sama ikr! I hate how underrated it is, because it's so incredible! One of Disney's best. It's my favorite movie, if you couldn't tell.
I feel like Sword and the Stone should be here.
AGREE:)
No it sucked balls
@@tarafinnegan9385 agree dude, I like part 2 more.
@TrueUnderDawgGaming Super agreed💗💗
Yessssssssssss. Great film
Almost all of these movies were my favourites growing up.

Same (except for #10 and #7)
I agree every movie on this list I liked except #10 and #7. #4 & #2 are my all time favorites
+Kitcrawlerbane
WathcMojo vids. are meant to spark controversy = them getting more views and more money
I watched treasure planet million times since it was released and I still love it.
Why is it underrated!!!!!
moon hart poor box office. That’s why.
Oliver and company Lilo and stitch and wreck it Ralph are my favorite movies of all time
They didn't do enough marketing for it and it came out the same time as Harry Potter so it failed in the box office. It is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Because the creators spent along long time trying to create the movie. Than it was a box office failure. Not a movie that no none saw but a movie that was expensive to make. It was very good though.
The creators of trespassers planet where in a contract that required them to make one more movie. That movie was hercules. Also a good movie.
I loved "Oliver & Company" not only because I love the "Oliver Twist" book but also the vocal talent of Billy Joel as "Dodger"
Rhianna Barr-Beaumont
I have never read Oliver Twist despite being a major reader.
The great mouse detective is perfect in every way, kind of salacious and dark. Me and my sisters favorite!
Mitch A. Great movie! But I didn't find it dark though
Mitch A. And casting the ORIGINAL Sherlock Holmes actor Basil Rathbone for the part was brilliant. So was Vincent Price and his mouse eating kitty!
@@sleepypanda9374 me either
Same here!
I think the hunchback of Notre Dame is a really underrated movie from Disney.
It's so more adult than any of Disney's films of the 90's! Epic!
True but it’s also there darkest
I think you're right but it is kind of inbetween the real popular ones and these ones which were completely overlooked
Mm hm 👌 it was dark but good.😀👍
Yeah it’s probably my favorite Disney classic, but it’s definitely not rated correctly. I don’t know how it’s rated G.
_what about robin hood, some people don't even know disney made a robin hood_
I loved that robin hood movie growing up, its where I learned the tale from
Some people don't know that Disney made The Rescuers or The Fox and the Hound either. Just because Disney animation wasn't the same quality in the 70s and 80s as it was before doesn't mean that it wasn't still good. Most of Disney's material between Walt's death and The Little Mermaid was actually quite good, but because critics didn't like them, they have largely been forgotten. (In fairness, the subliminal topless woman scene in The Rescuers was a big factor in why that film is so unpopular as well.)
And let's not forget that Disney animation was starting to decline even in Walt's lifetime.
Oh, and the decision to focus more on live action films probably had a lot to do with it as well.
Robin Hood is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time!
Depressed Optimist I’ve actually never seen it
The Fox & the Hound, & The Sword In the Stone are very underrated. I still believe The Hunchback of Notre Dame isn't given enough respect. But good list overall!
Don’t forget Home on the Range!
couldn't agree more or even Peter Pan or the Jungle book.
Phenomenal2112 Dammit, it's been ages since I've last heard those titles. What a huge nostalgia trip.
Peter pan and jungle book were hits though 😂 the point is movies that never got enough praise. Those 2 movies got more than enough
IKR I loved those and no one else shared that same nostalgia.
Rescuers is seriously underrated same for great mouse detective
The bat jumping out of the baby carriage in The Great Mouse Detective haunted my childhood 😂😂😂
Graham Monteith and the opening scene haha
Yeah lol. Nightmare fuel
Any scene with the bat with the bat haunted my childhood
Treasure Planet was a really good movie. I don't understand why the critics disliked it so much. It's basically the future...from the perspective of a 19th century kid. That's really cool
I'm Still Here by the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls was awesome.
You inspired me to watch the movie with my kids. It is now in my top ten favorite movies. Treasure Planet is an amazing movie for kids and adults.
I totally did not expect "Wreck-It Ralph" to be counted as an underrated Disney movie because of it becoming quite a hit among old-school gamers such as myself; Not to mention it's also kinda hard to find a copy of the movie on Blu-ray or DVD nowadays.
Casey Decker it is one of my favorite movies ^^
amesser6 That's cool to know, and it happens to be one of my favorite Disney animated movies of the current decade right next to "Zootopia". :D
Casey Decker cough cough* kiss cartoon . com
Casey Decker i have a copy of it on dvd :3
And it's getting a sequel.
Not underrated
The Horned King scared the ever-living crap out of me as a little kid.
Ikr, and his death is scarier than Ursula's.
(I'm not a girl, this is my mom's name)
Same here! And that movie also eventually led me to read the books, which are amazing!
The Black cauldron is easily the most underrated Disney animated movie ever... Also feel the horned king is amongst the most scary villains
"Munchies and crunchies in here somwhere."
It's all about black magick.
Never heard of it. Plan to see it within the next month or so
Somebody get Disney going on a live-action remake; and if they have any sense at all, they'll cast Andy Serkis as Gurgie.
Here is my list:
1) Black Cauldron
2) Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
3) Sword In the Stone
4) Robin Hood
5) The Aristocats
6) Soludos Amigos
7) Mickey and the Beanstalk
8) The Great Mouse Detective
9) Oliver and Company
10) Mickey’s Christmas Carol
There are a handful more that could just as easily be in the top 10. Back when animation was hand drawn cells!
Griffin Bonacci
Saludos Amigos! That one is also a lot of fun! I love the Three Caballeros. José Carioca though is my favorite of the three. He’s very charming!
Robin Hood and The Aristocats should not be on a list of underrated movies.
I used to watch Mickey's Christmas Carol over and over again as a kid
I think Treasure Planet should be on here

The Great Mouse Detective is one of my favorite Disney movie, it definitely deserved more credit
Edit: Same thing with Black Cauldron, I absolutely loved that movie!
Pretzeled Ginger why didn't you like Oliver & Company? Just curious, not being accusatory.
The whole reason I watched this video was to see if they included Oliver & Company. Honorable Mention my ass...
AGREED!!
Screw Elsa... Kida is the real Disney Queen. XD Goofy Movie and treasure planet are masterpieces. I never tire of watching them
"Oliver and Company" should have been in the top three...and "A Goofy Movie" should have been first or second. Just a great animated film.
Oliver and Co. kickstarted the renaissance in my opinion. It made money-they realized that they were going somewhere with these musicals and-COME ON DANCING DOGS!
Goofy movie is hilarious love it
100% agree
I've been trying to remember the name of "The Rescuers Down Under" for decades. Thank you so much for posting this.

Oh come on where is Fox and the Hound? That's seriously underrated!
Fun fact: It was the first Disney movie to use any sort of CG animation.
I was wondering if someone would actually mention it. I would say it's #2 underrated after the Great Mouse Detective, and only because Disney's corporate greed sabotaged the crap out of it
Could you tell me more I don't know about that?
Ok that's a lot of shit things wow, thank you
LeToplache007 i love that movie
The emperor’s new groove is so underrated it didn’t make it to the ‘top 10 underrated Disney movies’

How in the HELL is "Wreck it Ralph" considered Underrated? Also can we make a list of most "Overrated Disney Movies" and have it be 10 spots of "Frozen"? K thanks.
agreed
+jdbabyv3 Replace Frozen with The Lion King and deal.
+Michael Flinn nah. frozen is the most overrated Disney movie ever.
+jdbabyv3 I would personally rank Beauty and the Beast to be one of the overrated Disney movies for the list, but that's just me.
>.>
So, maybe to me it wasn't so much as overrated but overpraised--or something along those lines.
>.>
what about the Sword in the Stone? I know no one outside of my family that's heard of it
Titania Kirkland I have! It's hilarious
I like it, though I find it to be kind of an odd movie to watch, I grew up with it. But the Wizard duel is one of the best things ever!
Titania Kirkland i love that movie, would of liked to see it on the list
I've heard of it, seen it, own it, and love it. In fact, I have heard of, seen, and/or own all of these movies and more. I'm close to practically being the King of Disney Nerds. The Black Cauldron is also in fact my favorite Disney animated film, along with the Horned King being my favorite Disney Villain. I've been searching for a Top 10 Disney Villains list with the Horned King at least included somewhere, but I've had no such luck.
You're right, I LOVE THAT ONE!
Treasure planet was badass lol wish they made a 2nd one,17 yrs ago good grieve lol 😆 I’m 28 now teehee
great whiteshark I never saw it all the way through. Ever seen Titan AE?

The sequel wouldn’t have been as good.
The Great Mouse Detective is my favorite 2-D animated Disney film. It's such a great movie.
+PaleoSteno uhh no it's not, the movie sucked because basil is a cunt no way around it! basil is a cunt now way around it! let me repeat that one more time, basil is a cunt no way around it!
don't listen to that dude, the great mouse detective is the best movie ever
+PaleoSteno My favorite scene will always be at the end, when Ratigan begins to "Rat Out" and chase after Basil.

I really hope Atlantis and Treasure Planet are in Kingdom Hearts 3!
+Power Jusho That be awesome!!! They may surprise us. Only new place we know for sure is the Tangled world. Who'd you think they include in that world for your party?
+Power Jusho Yep!
Zodia195
there's also Big Hero 6
Yeah, I wish the more underrated films are in KH3
+Power Jusho I think Dinosaur, The Great Mouse Detective, and The Princess and the Frog would make great worlds.
All I have to say about the Great Mouse Detective:
Vincent Price made Ratigan the perfect villain- charming, smarmy, smart, and delightfully evil.
Just...goddamn, he WAS Ratigan.
+Jessica Ustas (Kureji Neko) I think Vincent Price himself said that Ratigan was one of his favorite roles. You could tell he had fun. They need to do an underrated Disney villain list hehe.
+Jessica Ustas (Kureji Neko) One of the few reasons why I like that movie xD
The black cauldron is one of my favorite Disney movies
It's one of the only movies I had growing up
The Aristocats honestly should get more fame than 101 Dalmatians should.
Zak Zanimates Honestly, Aristocats has always been my favourite two-D animated Disney film.
NOOOOO live action will ruin the best parts of it ( to me i loved the art and thought it blended normal cats with more expressive faces )
I find aristocats a tad boring actually. i get why it works but i just found it boring
Heh, I'm glad "The Great Mouse Detective" made this list! Disney often acts like it doesn't exist...
Another Disney animated feature that seems very underrated these days is the original "The Rescuers."
+wileyk209zback sorry bud but i hated that movie, chating the chracters, animation, scary images, songs, and slapstick humor and action scenes
Karen Fahel can i troll please?
why are the rescuers underrated ?? in my country its aired like 5 times a year ...
+wileyk209zback :3
Anybody remeber Pete's Dragon the original one released in 1977?
Brittany Edwards Yes why do a live action remake of a mostly live action movie????? Oh yeah $$$$$$$$$$
I absolutely loved Pete’s Dragon! It’s a wonderful movie!
That was my all time favourite movie as a child. My dad recorded it for me on VCR. I couldn't watch all of the re make, it's just not the same at all
Brittany Edwards LOVE IT
Adore this movie so much
Dinosaur was made in 2000?! Holy crap the CG still looks amazing. I also remember going to Disney and being able to see art for The Rescuer's Down Under and MAN is that movie beautiful!
Wreck it ralph isn't underrated
I think they included it because it lost the Oscar to Brave that year.
I don't think any movie that gets a sequel could be said to be "underrated".
I loved Meet the Robinsons! Random fact: Walt Disney always liked to say "Keep moving forward" which is where they got it from in the movie!
I also have quite a few of these movies on dvd or vhs :3
Hunchback of notre dame, the rescuers, Black cauldron and aristocats are my favourite Disney films I think they’re so underrated
yeah especially marie
even if she is the most popular disney cat
The Emperor's New Groove and Lilo & Stitch were the capstones of Disney animation.
Treasure Planet should've been #1, but cool!
My reaction exactly. Might have to watch that Black Cauldron some time...
+Connor Duquette I first saw it when I was 8 at the end there was a bad smell in the room
Connor Bosley
... Do you mean, like, a dark atmosphere? Or, like, something legitimately smelled bad for unrelated reasons?
+Connor Duquette no I mean more a bad smell because I and every other 8 year old had pretty much shat ourselves with fear (not literally)
Connor Bosley
OOOOHHHH, yeah okay, I got you.
The Emperor's New Groove :(
that movie will never be underrated!
Underrated?! Pull the lever, Kronk!
Th0ughtf0rce WRONG LEVER!!!

Kuzco is the best Disney princess.
I guess I've grown up with underrated stuff. Treasure Planet is my favourite film of all time. I love space and sci-fi.
Memelord Supreme well you haven’t seen many movies then
same here, I grew up with great mouse detective, aristocats, rescuers down under, oliver and company, black cauldron, and the goofy movie. Though I have noticed a lot of people talking about goofy movie recently, I even found a powerline shirt at target.
I know, after watching this video,I feel like I love underrated movies lol
Memelord Supreme the guy in treasure planet looks like Anastasia boyfriend In Anastasia
Treasure planet is my fav to
The Hunchback of Notre Dame should definitely be number one
Honestly it has my favorite songs of ANY Disney movie.
Hunchback is a great film. It’s hard to see why it didn’t get on this list.
But despite being a fan of both Hunchback and Black Cauldron, I think the REAL underrated and MISUNDERSTOOD Disney film is MUCH older than ANY of these.

I loved that movie

BB's OST, Atlantis story and Treasure planet 2D-3D merged animation made me wish for more. I wish these 2D fantastic movies were premiered in the theaters, not those cheap 3D movies.
I agree!!
Hell yeah dude
Aristocats is still one of my favourites!
+Fräulein Zuckerguss That motorcycle scene with the dogs still cracks me up.
+Ander Pendragon lol true
+Ander Pendragon The dogs are awesome, but one of my favourite scenes is when they all party and song with the jazz cats.
Fräulein Zuckerguss I don't remember right but I think it's like this
"i'm the leader I say when we go, let's go
+KAIZOKU ARAB l قرصان العرب The dogs are THE amazing couple.
YES!!! BLACK CAULDRON AT THE TOP OF THE LIST!!! Recognition finally delivered!!!
Agreed the film is totaly underated even tho it's a great film with a great story and great characters
Treasure Planet! I think that's the most underrated movie!
Ok, I haven't even seen the number one. Guess I was wrong. Now I have something I NEED to watch!
I've seen both treasure planet and black cauldron. I love Treasure planet more, it's more magical.
+imnotok45 oh, that's right. I forgot about the bad second movies, maybe it's for the best then 😂
I had the biggest crush on Basil from Great Mouse Detective when I was a little kid
Emma L I used to love most of these movies.. and I still love nostalgia for certain scenes.
I loved Basil too
I have dinosaur on vhs still
me to c;
Same here!
So do I!
The good ole days
Me too
Here's a list of some other Disney movies that also deserves more recognition (including Pixar films):
- A Bug's Life
- Bolt
- Brave
- Make Mine Music
- Peter Pan In Return To Never Land (this is one of the only Disney sequels that is actually amazing in my opinion)
- Ratatouille (not a lot of people seem to talk about this movie anymore)
- Tarzan
- The Fox And The Hound
- The Hunchback Of Notre Dame (this is their best animated film in my opinion)
I haven't seen the other package films from the 40's yet, but i *think* most of them are pretty good if i already like Make Mine Music
The hunchback of Notre Dom? The Nightmare Before Christmas? The sword in the stone? THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE? HURCULES? MULAN? CHICKEN LITTLE?
Mulan, Nightmare and Hercules are anything but Underrated.
Jacquie Farris chicken little fucking sucks
Nightmare has been called one of the best movies ever made, actulally o/
Chicken Little is overrated
Jacquie Farris what about The Wild🦒🐿🦁🐨🐍
The fox and the hound?!? mojo wtf
+Llama Illuminati That movie is underrated? That movie was fantastic, what's wrong with people?!
+Llama Illuminati true
That one is underrated for a reason
+Gabriela Lukavei What reason is that?
+Gabriela Lukavei The Fox and the Hound is NOT a bad Disney movie! !!
We need more traditional animation in theaters.
I’m 30 now and some nights I still have dreams of getting on stage during an assembly and tearing it up like Powerline! The Goofy Movie was so influential to me when I was a kid. Stand Out is easily my most played song of all time.
Ones you missed:
- The Fox & the Hound
- Hunchback of Notre Dame
- The Emperor's New Groove
- The Sword in the Stone
- Robin Hood
- Hercules
- Tarzan
Nabzarella Dare hunchback is shit. Overrated asf don’t no wtf you’re talking about. Tarzan gets the credit it deserves. Robin Hood isn’t underrated just not known by this generation. Hercules also gets the credit it deserves.
Love Sword in the Stone! I still sing the songs from the movie too
Tarzan is not underrated it ist the highest gtossing disney animated feature since the lion king.
I didn't see Emperor's New Groove until much later, but was glad I finally got around to it.
how the hell is emperor's new groove underrated? that's a great film!
brave little toaster...? anyone?
+Sebastian Haeckermann Obviously not a Disney movie
+Harkness78 It wasn't really made by Disney, but Disney distributed it.
+olserknam www.google.com.co/search?q=brave+little+toaster&client=ms-android-motorola&prmd=ivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiB5d2m-NnKAhUErB4KHbSUDbYQ_AUIBygB#imgrc=NB_1b4i-afMhPM%3A
Sebastian Haeckermann Look it up on Wikipedia, Disney was just the distributor.
fox and the hound was Disney, right?
Where's the Emperor's New Groove?!?!
Tyrunner0097 Probably not considered underaged Bc it got a show
Yeah! Where the hell is it???
Well it got a tv show, so it's way beyond these other movies ;)
ENG got a TV show, a to-DVD sequel (for Kronk), a video game, etc. So...
Great list! The Black Cauldron was my absolute favorite Disney movie growing up 👌🏽
MEET THE ROBINSONS IS AWESOME! I hate that its underrated!
Yup the ending had me in tears 😭
Every time I hear that background music of Treasure Planet... my heart...
My favorite movies of all times: Treasure Planet, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Brother bear, Pocahontas. Almost as beautiful: all the other Disney movies, that almost no one knows.. The fox and the hound, masterpiece! Robin hood, so good! Oliver and company!!! And so on 💕
I am still here by John Kzenick of The Goo Goo Dolls is an awesome song.
Great mouse detective?
I LOVED THE BLACK CAULDRON
Same :)
I Hate the Black Cauldron it's too scary to Spooky to boring and it's terrifying
I loved it growing up! I loved how dark it was, nothing else is like it 😍❤ and who cares if it's slow? Just because it's longer than the hour and a half typical disney movie that comes out? Lol more to watch :)
Same here!! 💙
I loved it...The Horned King kicked ass
I freaking adore The Great Mouse Detective. Then again I am a huge Sherlock Holmes junkie.
Sherlock Holmes as a mice form 🕵️
Heck yeah, it's actually one of my favourite Disney movies
@@Yessiryes13 It is an amazing movie. Brought Disney out of the dark ages and helped revitalize the company.
@@solus8685 Mine too. That and Robin Hood
@@kirinrosenbaum Ik this movie is saving Disney from bankruptcy because the failure of the previous film Black cauldron & because this movie Disney had started they renaissance era. Thanks alot for this movie that bring back Disney to life again 😘. This movie really need a love they deserved also this is my #1 favourite Disney movie
The Emperors New Groove!!! Still the most underrated Disney movie!!!
AHHH!!!! DEMON LLAMA!!! -Pacha
Demon Llama? Where?
+Andrew Kinkead YES!! When I kept not seeing it, I thought it was going to be number 1!! I can't believe it wasn't on here...
swrod in the stone
Oh my god yes
Princess Kida is so underrated, it's insane.
Why, oh, why, is she not included in the official lineup??!!
tf is that?
+Abel Solano you must have not watched the video
I just finished i didn't hear any kida
+Abel Solano Kida is the princess in Atlantis
TREASURE PLANET FANS UNITE!
aight
+MadeUlookXD the robot kinda reminds me of claptrap from boderlands :D
YEAH!
+BlackPho3n1x I totally agree!! He is the PG version of clap trap lol
Just loved Silver. One of the best pirates out there besides Captain Jack Sparrow and friend. And villain too to boot! Also, I absolutely love the song they did when they were showing Jim's flashbacks. I'm Still Here is the name of the song, and it speaks to me personally.
Had all these on VHS and DVD brings back memories
