Wife and I lived in an RV for 2 years. Used to charge my laptop in the Staples parking lot next door. There was a skunk that had a route around the area and he came around me a few times. I could pick up Staples' internet, so while I was sitting on the cement, checking my email, I look up and he's standing up, peering at me from across the screen about 6 inches from my face. He wrinkled his nose at me and moved on. The name "Oscar" popped into my head, so I called him, Oscar. Sometimes, he would come up about 3 to 6 feet from me and just sit for awhile and watch me. Maybe he wanted to check his google account.
Been raising and rescuing skunks for almost 20 years. They are WONDERFUL animals!!
I'd love a baby skunk but sadly here in the UK its forbidden to get them descented so i'll pass

really, i just killed two young ones. Have killed many more. They keep going after my chickens, trying to dig under my fence. They get hit by the electric fence and release the stink. And then i wake up as it comes into my home. They are cute animals, but i kind of hate them at this point. I don't release them when i catch them in my traps.
Id love to have one as a emotional support animal. Im in nc. Yrs ago me n my then husband dressed up for halloween as a skunk couple and won a prize lol

Many years ago I found two baby skunks, the mother having been killed by a passing car. I took them home and bottle-fed them for more than a month. A friendly vet operated on them and removed the glands. They lived with us for many years. They kept the whole property clean of rodents and bugs, not saying about the unwanted human visitors :) ,

Did they dig holes in your yard? Especially in the fall wild skunks dig holes all over my back yard, looking for grubs.
@@hazel555 Since I fed them every day with canned and dried dog food, there was no problem with them digging in the yard. They would come inside in the evening for the night and go outside in the morning.

How horrible are you? So you selfishly alter their lives to suit you? Call a vet, but them release back to the wild. I bet you wanted to hear about what a sweet thing you did, but you did not. So if your the one hit by the car, then anyone that's near can take you home, call a dr to have all your defense mechanisms taken out, like ypur voice and hands, and now you are their's for the rest of your life. I really pray you get the opportunity to see first hand what that must be like for them.
Even though I have an irrational fear of skunks that I can’t explain, I do think baby skunks are adorable. 😁

That's called a healthy respect. No need to really fear them, just give them space and let them do their thing. They will help you keep your yard clean and free of wasps, maggots, snakes and rodents.

I had an almost mystical encounter with a skunk one night, although it did not end well. I was on my bike in summer, riding my bike in flip flops and stopped at a red light on a road near the beach. Suddenly I saw a little skunk waddling towards me- I couldn’t really go anywhere or do anything and I just assumed it would pass me by, but unbelievably he came and stood on top of my foot. It was really really weird. The light changed to green and I could not go - cars and bikes were going around me, but I was too scared to move, that he’d spray me. Also, he looked up at me- we were honestly having a face off, and I had no idea what this skunk wanted with me. I just waited patiently for him to get off me. Well…he finally did, but not until after he fully sprayed me! The smell literally never left my bike, when I sold it, it still smelled like skunk. And I had to throw out those clothes. Will never be able to explain what that skunk’s motivation was, but my boyfriend was sure not impressed when I got home reeking to high heaven. However, despite it all, I could not help being charmed by this skunk and just how adorable he was despite this very unpleasant and strange experience!

Did you know that skunks and stink badgers are more closely related to raccoons, ringtails, cacomistles, coatis, olingos, olinguitos, kinkajous, and red pandas than to weasels, badgers, otters, zorillas, african striped weasels, marbled polecats, patagonian weasels, grisons, wolverines, tayras, martens, and fishers?

There’s a ton of skunks in my neighborhood, last night one wandered onto my porch right up to my cat. Normally she’s feisty but she was smart enough not to confront it. WhenI walk my dog they come right up to us but thankfully never spray.
hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish detergent. This solution eliminates the smell and replaces it with a refreshing one. It is more effective than tomato soup/juice and vinegar as one has to soak in that stuff for a long time for it to work.
Even adults can be adorable... and it hilarious that they use bad odor as their defence.

In my old apt,i used to go out at night and there was s family of sknks who lived under my shed.theyd come out and one time one of them walked right into my foot,backed up, shook his head and kept walking.id feed them every once in awhile and they got comfortable enough to take food right out of my hand.they were so cute.I fell in love from then on

I had a close call with a Skunk myself. I was going out the back door of our house at the time and there he was a few feet of me. Needless to say, I backed up real quick back into the house lol
Same- I have an irrational fear of skunks- my parents laughed at me so hard when I was bringing the garbage out and 2 baby skunks came out and I let out the loudest high-pitched scream and ran all the way to my neighbors house until they waddled away 😝😆

It's about a guy who was pretty drunk walking home down a dark back alley and came across what he thought was a cat😄😄 well it wasn't, it was a skunk lol It sprayed him . He so drunk never realized that and went to sleep smelling😄😄 The next morning he went back to the bar like that lol The bartender said no way until he had a bath, took him upstairs to the empty bathroom and made him take a bath😄😄😄 Its one of my favs. I laugh every time, I tell it, Ty for your funny story😊

My favorite episode of Bear Grylls is when he snares a skunk and then covers it with his jacket to kill it. He then throws it in a fire with the fur still on to cook it. As he is eating it he described the flavor to a steak rubbed with dog crap He then has to wear his jacket that night when the temperature drops.

The fraud probably had his crew bring him a spare jacket that he used for about a 30 seconds for that scene. Then he went to the hotel across the street and had a steak dinner.

I hate when cars drive and hit one around your house. You wouldn't want to be around. Especially i have to go anywhere, i be smelling like one. You have company coming over your home and it will have the scent in your home.

I dont like skunks at all . When thier babies thier cute. Now here's what I don't understand Hopefully someone can explain. Last year before I had to move back home I was outside my apartment that I was living in with my landlord at the time and I was sitting by the door like normal around 6 am having a cigarette and I noticed across the street there were alot of skunks that were active. Anyway I saw one skunk come across the street but I didn't see where it went and all of a sudden I see it running around the corner it stopped a few feet or so away from me and started hissing at me at first I couldn't tell if it was a hiss I didn't know at the time that skunks hiss. Anyway it hissed at me twice I stood up and I backed away slowly opened the front door and I went inside and the skunk didn't move it just stood looking at me but it didn't attack me or charge me. Can someone tell me why it was hissing at me to begin with . My mom said I might of spooked it cuz it wasn't expecting to see me there but idk she's not much of an animal expert but she knows alot about raccoons tho.
