BOSNIA: FINAL DAY OF BRITAIN'S PRINCESS DIANA ANTI LANDMINE VISIT

On the third and final day of her tour of Bosnia, Diana, Princess Of Wales was in Sarajevo on Sunday, to visit civilians injured by land mines.
She visited the home of 15 year-old Mirzeta Gabelic who lost half of her right leg in February when she stepped on a land mine on her way to the local market.
Diana's visit to a run-down Sarajevo suburb on Sunday caused much excitement among the residents - although many of them had apparently never heard of her.
Among them were Mirzeta Gabelic who lost her right leg below the knee after stepping on a land mine.
Mirzeta's family could not afford a prosthesis and had to rely on donations from an Italian charity.
As her village clings to a steep mountainside, Mirzeta was virtually a prisoner in her own home until she got her new limb.
Diana spent around half an hour with Mirzeta and her family, communicating through an interpreter.
Some of those who sat through the meeting claim Diana was moved to tears by a pendant around Mirzeta's neck with the word 'Love' on it.
Later in the day Diana visited the Mine Action Centre in Sarajevo's Marshal Tito barracks.
There she was shown some of the latest land mine detection and clearance equipment.
Ten youngsters from the UNICEF-sponsored Sarajevo Children's Moving Theatre performed a scene from a play they had written which aims to raise mine awareness among children.
They also sang songs and presented Diana with anti-mine posters.
S-FOR troops watched with interest as the Princess walked around the barracks, seeming relaxed and happy.
The Princess was invited on the visit by the Washington-based Land mine Survivors Network to try and raise awareness of the suffering caused by land mines.

You need to understand that Diana was a hard-boiled Narcissist. She did exactly what it took to get as much attention as possible.
What she is doing here is competing with the Royal Family, in order to appear the most kind and charitable person in the World.
It was particularly important for her in 996-97, because she was divorced from Charles, and had no official duties whatsoever.
So what Diana CHOSE to do were the MOST ATTENTION GETTING things that she could possibly do.
You need to keep in mind that her Sister-in Law, Anne, the Princess Royal, was the Director of the Save the Children Fund.... not just a name on the letterhead, or an occasional appearance, but the person who called the meetings, addressed to trustees, decided on programs, and went EVERY YEAR, to war zones and places affected by famine. Anne did not pat or cuddle the filthy, fly-blown, bloated children who were dying of starvation before her eyes. She just looked at the situation, encouraged her over-worked staff, and planned how best to deliver more food and medicine. Understand that Anne was driving herself around African countries, and Bangladesh in a 4WD, or dropping into remote villages in a helicopter. There were no camera crews. There were two security officers and one Aide. Anne didn't need a dresser, a stylist and a manicurist.
So when you see Diana being "the kindest person in the world" for three days in Bosnia, this was part of her plan.
Five visit to New York two days in Angola for a Land Mines photo Shoot, two day is South Africa being photographed with Nelson Mandela, a quick visit to be photographed with Mother Teresa of Calcutta, a visit to Pakistan to see the Prime Minister , a famous tennis star, and his beautiful English wife Jemima, and of course a quick visit to be photographed at the HIV hospital, and a great photo of her sitting looking TERRIBLY LONELY in front of the Taj Mahal.
What you are seeing is not WORKING, CARING kindness, but a self-promotional display, which Diana could well afford to do, as she had both the time and the money.
All the rest of the Royal Family actually WORK for their charities in a very active, organisational way. (Except the Queen, who is busy with affairs of State)
Diana promised one of the men who had recently lost his leg that she would buy him a prosthetic. She died only three weeks later. But the Royal Family honoured her promise and sent the money.
