Thank you my friend. I always thought that strike point can only be adjusted, per key, by regluing the hammer on the shank.... One day it would be nice to have an action that can do the same with a screw...... ?

Hello Gena. Thank you so much for the video and the information. Please tell me the formula for determining the position of the point of impact of the hammer on the string (anschlag). Thank you.

My Steinway upright from 1909 has dull highest trebble notes. The other trebble noted sound very bright and beautyful. I suggested to a technician that the striking point could be incorrect. He said that old piano's have less volume and more beauty of tone. However a brilliant highest trebble that doesn't sound less powerful than the other notes ís beautyful, so I disagreed and am looking for a more sensible technician now.
I'm planning to perform some tests myself one of these days.

Would it not be easier to replace the screw hole in the flange portion of the shank with an elongated slot so that you can more easily slide the hammer forward or back and then tighten down as necessary? This would also address the situation that seems like it would be problematic with your hammer repositioning approach where the need is to elongate the strike position of the hammer rather than shorten it, as in your examples.

That would change the action a lot. Basically moving the location of the knuckle, the location of the hinge point relative to the entire whippen, the angle itself of how the hammer hangs on the repetition lever… the location of the front rail is carefully aligned to keep a set distance between itself and the whippen flange rail.
