No vibrato to hide a missed note, just a perfect pitch held. She is absolutely the best backing or duet vocalist ever. Listen to Shania Twain and then that live session she did with Alison, it is so much better. That's why she has 27 Grammys; everyone is many times better with her singing beside them.
Robert Plant (lead singer of Led Zepplin) said he was driving his car one night in England and heard an Angel's voice singing on the radio and had to pull his car over. He knew he had to sing with her. Of course it was Allison Krauss, and they did a grammy winning album together.
@@tammygregory5452 me too as well as “I’m Just a Ghost in This House”. A song that Allison called the saddest song she had ever heard and decided to record it. I love the original but her version of it is,IMO, the best song they’ve ever done.
Jay, the slide guitar you commented on is called the dobro and the player is Jerry Douglas who is one of the world's best dobro players. By the way, Allison actually got her start singing with Union Station, not the other way around. Union Station is one of those bands where ever single member actually has a solo career in addition to recording and touring with Union Station. They've been together for a long time now and hopefully will continue for many years.
The fellow playing the guitar is Dan Tyminski, who sang lead on Man of Constant Sorrow from O Brother Where Art Thou, also sings lead on lots of Union Station songs . Great singer and player and has a few solo albums.
To be a tad pedantic, Jerry is playing a resonator guitar. Dobro is a brand name and he actually plays a Beard resonator guitar. Regardless, the man is a beast on that thing.
Alison’s band, Union Station, are fantastic. The amazing Jerry Douglas was playing the Dobro (resonator guitar). The guitar player with the beard, Dan Tyminski, is the one who sings Man of Constant Sorrow in the version of the song used in the movie O’ Brother, Where Art Thou. I recommend checking him out singing that song.
One of my favorite Alison Krauss & Union Station songs is their cover of "Baby Now That I've Found You." Their live- in-concert performances of the song are every bit as polished as their studio recording, so check out one of their concert videos if you want more than a photo of the album cover to look at.
Her guitarist, Dan Tyminski, is the singer of Man of Constant Sorrow as a stand in for George Clooney. Allison sings in the movie also as one of the sirens. Dan also had a big hit with Avicii - Hey Brother.
I always felt this was kind of a response to "Traveling Man" by Ricky Nelson, which describes a man who has a girl in every port, and never sticks around anywhere. The "lucky" is said ironically, "you think you're lucky doing this, but in the end, you'll have nothing."
I've been a fan of Alison since she released her first album when she was only 14. Way back then I didn't think she could get any better, but her talent has just continued to grow.
Alison Krauss. She's one of those singers/musicians that upon hearing for the first time I immediately fell in love with. She's in a cut above. Definitely. Thank God for Alison.
I am a irony song INY song. Also think you know what? You know, it's gonna be wonderful as soon is you now. That she's singing in the song. All right. That's all you need to know is else and singing. If she's saying it's gonna be a wonderful song power up.
EVERY song Allison sings is fantastic!! She's one of my favorite fiddle players. I love hearing her sing this song....she adds such a soft touch to it. All of her albums are great!
No one has a voice as pure and crystal clear as Alison Krauss. And she sings with such apparent ease. She also sang the siren song "Down to the River to Pray" in O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
I fell in love with Alison Krauss in the late 80s to early 90s, with songs like "Too Late to Cry" and "I've Got That Old Feeling." Hope you'll react to those.
Alison Krauss is tied for 4th all time with number of Grammys. She is a virtuoso fiddler as well as her incredible voice. Check out her duets with Robert Plant.
The guitar played flat like a steel guitar is called a dobro. Jerry Douglas played it, and he's one of the best in the business. Alison plays fiddle for the band. She's still in Union Station. I love their song "Every Time You Say Goodbye".
I first heard Alison when I was living with an ex. I remember we would sit with the lights off, by candle light and listen to this whole album and just enjoy each other's company. Even tho that relationship didn't work out, everytime I hear this song it takes me back to that time and to a happy memory. Good pick guys!!
I saw her and Union Station here and she came out to sing the first tune. And this grown man flood gates opened because i thought i was listening to perfect pitch a voice of an angel.

Yea!!! Thank you, thank you ! I sent this suggestion in a couple of days ago! There are many more from Allison and this group, which actually have some of the most respected guitar, banjo, and mandolin players around.
She has a duet with Brad Paisley that is absolutely heartbreaking you guys need to check out. The song is Whiskey Lullaby. Speaking of Brad Paisley, I don’t recall you guys ever reacting to him yet. He’s a great, somewhat comical country singer with such a smooth voice. A song of his you guys would absolutely LOVE is “Letter To Me” Trust me on this one… such a cool message ❤
One of the best songs she’s ever done. I love Alison Krauss. Such a pure voice and a terrific violin player. I’ve seen her live a few times. Never ever disappointed.
guys, I think you’re missing the undercurrent here. He passes thru life, doing what he wants, treating people how he wants and never suffering consequences.. she sings “ cause I know what you’ve done, you’re the lucky one e”
I saw an interview with the songwriter who said it was written as "I'm the Lucky One," but Alison thought that was too cheerful for ACUS and that it played better in second person. 😄
So happy to have found you guys!!! I've been binge watching off and on since Wednesday (I just counted 63 in my history). It's so much fun to see a younger generation grooving to what is basically the soundtrack of my life. Your reactions have been priceless. Don't ever stop being you.
My heart just melts when I hear Alison sing. She has the voice of an angel who lets all of her feelings come through to the listener. I just adore her. Of special mention is her treatment of "When You Say Nothing At All", and "Let Me Touch You For A While".
Dan Tyminski (guitarst) was the voice for George Clooney in "O' Brother Where Art Thou" for "Man of Constant Sorrow". The Union Station band are all great.
Anything just JUST anything I. N. J that Allison Krauss gonna si let's not go back. Good. It's gonna be better than good. How route it's gonna be wonderful, absolutely beautiful, it's you remember? Because my baby Allison's sign it.She does some George Jones's songs with Jamie Johnson.I think it's george and tommy songs question mark or george jones question mark but I don't like to say anything but horror and jamie johnson , the george jones tone
Lester flat and Earl Scruggs. What I done was a beverly hillbilly slime but that was a great wonderful band they did a fight a song called that's not a shortcut to foggy foggy mountain foggy mountain breakdown brother
I remember rocking my newborn to sleep back in 2001 and hearing this song and was really touched by it. It’s a beautiful song with a superb vocal by Alison. Always takes me back to that time.
Watching this reaction, it kinda reflects my thoughts about music and not getting tied down to just one kind. You're wearing shirts from Metallica and Kiss and listening to Alison Krauss & Union Station. I love her voice and grew up listening to all different kinds of music from all genres and all eras but so many others I grew up with would never even considering listening to Alison Krauss just because she's considered bluegrass/country.. and to me, that's just sad. While I may gravitate to certain music a little (or a lot) more than others, I like to think I have a pretty open and eclectic taste so I really appreciate your channel and the fact that you are open to different artists and genres. Thank you for doing what you do.
This woman's voice is angelic and typically perfectly on pitch. I am not a huge country or bluegrass fan, but I love me some Alison Krauss! And this song showcases it fantastically.
There are several people who have had near-death experiences who report hearing music and singing that is so beautiful and beyond anything they've heard in this life. When that day comes for me, and I hear that voice, the first thing I'll say is, "That sounds exactly like Alison Krauss." She leaves angels envious. Listen to 'Paper Airplane.' She also has two albums as a duet with Robert Plant. Listen to 'Gone, Gone, Gone,' 'Can't Let Go,' and 'Please Read the Letter.'
I love Amber's reactions to the lyrics in songs. I was never a huge fan of Country Music. However, I greatly appreciate a great story teller and that is a huge part of country music. As a guitarist I am falling in love with that steel guitar. I really enjoy just picking up my acoustic and picking out a tune. The picking sounds beautiful in this song. I have heard her a few times and my taste for country is changing. Given that country music also has southern black roots it is related to my love for soul and R&B. I will dive deeper into the genre.Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
There are certain female voices that are immediate standouts...Dion, Carpenter, Carey, Ronstadt...and Allison Kraus. So lucky to have so many great singers. Love her music. ❤
Alison, what a talent, know who voice as soon as she sings and along with her work with Robert Plant she has some stunning tacks to listen to. Highly recommended to any newcomers. Fabulous.
And...this music is original American music...bluegrass ..she is soooo exceptional...the band absolutely stellar...maybe my favorite female song...oh my...so good.....
I can put my AirPods in and she could sing me the phone book and I would be the lucky one. My favorite all-time, female singer. Seen her in concert over six times. Just as beautiful live as it is recorded.
Honestly, I love Alison Krauss. She has the most angelic voice in the entertainment business. I could listen to her all day, hands down. Everyone seems to react to Whiskey Lullaby, but she has a plethora of songs where she shows off her musicality. She loves to cover songs that time has forgotten about, and many people, including Robert Plant, Heart, Jamey Johnson, John Waite, James Taylor, Taylor Swift, etc, perform duets with her. She is amazing!!
I don’t think you will actually get a chance to see this, but I wanted to say that as a general rule I watch way too much politics and news on UA-cam, and when I come over and listen to your videos and watch you interact with each other and with your base, you heal my heart, and I want to thank you for that. The world needs more people like you two ❤❤
You really need to hear her sing “Jacob’s dream” amazingly haunting voice. I was obsessed with this done when I first hear it and then I find out it really happened!!! Xxxx
Such a beautiful song, but in the undercurrent there's a sad side. If you were the one night stand, who thought you were in love but you were just one of the stops on their way, you're not so lucky. If you're the one who stays home and keeps everything together for the family while the Lucky One plays his way through life, who feels the weight of the world, you envy that Lucky One.
If you have the opportunity to see them live, don't miss it!! The quality of musicianship from each member of this group is absolutely jaw dropping. The guitar work, the harmonies...it's all just top shelf. Their live show is as perfect as the records, the humor and humility...they just all seem like normal, kind people that you'd like to invite over. Don't miss out on a live concert...
I saw Alison Krause & Union Station open for Willie Nelson in a tiny little outdoor ampetheatre, surrounded by tall pine and redwood in Santa Barbara. Perfect weather. Perfect music. It didn't suck even a little
When you say nothing at all is beautiful and Let me touch you for awhile, her songs helped me out a little bit when my husband passed in 2002, her voice is angelic ❤❤❤
I saw Alison and her band Union station twice in mid nineties and met them all backstage afterwards and talk about a lucky man😆..She was my guilty pleasure because I come from a hard rock/metal background but you just can't deny good music no more than you can stop the rising tide!✌️💛🤘
Alison is one of my favorite vocalists ever. Could recommend so many of her songs but my absolute favorite is "Baby Now That I've Found You." It's actually a cover of a song by The Foundations and her rendition is heartbreakingly beautiful.
Alison has 27 Grammy wins, making her the second female behind Beyonce and fourth overall for wins. She is an amazing artist. Fun fact: Dan Tyminski, the bearded gentleman playing the guitar, is the singer behind the song Man of Constant Sorrow from O' Brother Where Art Thou. :)
I can't tell you how much I love Alison...27 Grammys, perfect pitch and a voice sent straight down from Heaven ❤️
As I went down to the river to pray……..❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve loved her voice for many years. So talented. ❤
Her and I are cousins. Haven't seen nor spoken to her since I was a kid, though.
Alison Krause and Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin lead singer) did an album together a few years back.
A must listen to!
The backyard version is amazing….
I agree ... a fantastic album - their voices complement each other so well ❤ x
They've actually done two albums together: Raising Sand in 2007 and Raise The Roof in 2021.
How about learning her name if you like her
I am a huge Zeppelin fan. I need to research this. I would love to hear it. Thanks. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.

I've requested that song a few times!

Yessssss. I've been asking for that one too!
I could have sworn they'd done Whiskey Lullaby, but I can't find it. They must be the only reaction channel on UA-cam that hasn't.

Surprised there’s not more love for her great cover of 60s classic Baby Now That I’ve Found You
Alison has won a bucket full of grammy's. Her musicians are top notch and she is an excellent violinist in addition to her magnificent voice.

Seen Alisson with Union Station. Oh what a fantastic performance. Their use of slide guitar, banjo and violin is top notch.
Union Station did the vocals for O Brother Where Art Thou.

Exactly. Kind the same vein as “Pocket Full of Gold,” but a little more subtle.
Jack of all trades, master of none is definitely disparaging. She’s been burnt by him and this song is quietly a F you.
Alison Krauss is my favorite female vocalist. Listen to her duet with Brad Paisley....Whiskey Lullaby

Soul breaking song because it's so true to life. Although the idiot that did the music video tried to spin a happy ending.

I saw Alison and her band Union station twice in mid nineties and met them all backstage afterwards and talk about a lucky man😆..She was my guilty pleasure because I come from a hard rock/metal background but you just can't deny good music no more than you can stop the rising tide!✌️💛🤘
This is such a good song. I am shocked and so happy people remembered this one.
She's backed up by her band, Union Station. Those guys are fantastic and give a very tight performance despite the use of drums to keep time.
