Always loved the bit where the Beast twists the husbands arm and messes him up and when he sees the same about to happen to his love he counteracts the twist to stop the same happening to her. Just great choreography.
Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer were two of my favorite films around this time. Western films have never really been able to fully capture that perfect mixture of action and slapstick comedy that makes those films so hilarious and entertaining. By the time this scene takes place, I was fully invested in the Lovers as characters, so when they do battle I felt the stakes. More importantly, I cared.
Both of those films are classics

One of my sadnesses is that Stephen Chow has not made more movies like this. This is entertainment cinema of the highest order.

Went into this film by myself with no expectations what so ever.
I’ve never been more blown away by a movie in a theatre.
It is a true masterpiece. It has everything you could wish from an entertaining movie.

Well, the fighters in these are meant to be the modern adaptation of Wu Xia, which is old Chinese story about warriors of old time with unique fighting skills. Inna sense it is like book/manga/manhwa adaptation.

Every time I revisit scenes from this movie, the action makes my hair stand up. Effects are a little dated sure, but this movie is just.. The strangest masterpiece.

Better live action adaptation of an anime that never existed
I love how this movie just keeps introducing characters one-upping the previous strongest characters.
Also the way the couple almost had The Beast beat if it weren’t for his unfairness and their fairness.
Another Lion’s Roar with the bell would’ve taken him out.

We hope so! Apparently Stephen Chow is working on Shaolin Soccer 2 and I think Kung Fu Hustle 2 is rumoured to be in the works. So fingers crossed! 🙏

It's too hard for me to watch this movie. I always laugh so hard, it hurts. Interestingly, though it's supposed to be a Stephen Chow movie, my 3 favorite characters are The Beast, The Landlady, and The Landlord. This movie is hilarious. The Landlady said after she turned of the water, "Water doesn't just fall from the clouds."

Jadi yang dipakai di subtitle bahasa Inggris ya karakter dari budaya barat, yaitu Paris dan Helen dari legenda Troya, supaya lebih nyambung 🙏
