We were very lucky Chris. Loch Sheil is jawdroppingly pretty but the area itself is lovely so the whole route is very picturesque.

This route is so picturesque that it completely justified the effort to get there.

It truly is lazlo, I think it has to be the prettiest section of gravel I’ve ever cycled.

We really did Craig. The weather on the Saturday was perfect and the sunset on the Friday was pretty spectacular too.

Nice film, Rode the Loch Shiel gravel out and back from Glenfinnan last September. The most scenic gravel I've ever ridden, called at the brewery as well, nice beer. You just got another subscriber.

Super video - thanks for posting. I’ve climbed a couple of Corbetts in Ardgour and have long fancied a return trip with the bike. Great to get an insight into the gravel quality and the local beer - key elements for any ride.

Great ride! I did it a few years ago with a mate on mountain bikes. We started from Corran, but rode up Cona Glen and over the pass to Glenfinnan before the long ride down Loch Shiel, and then the harder climb over to Strontian. It has been described as one of the best Gravel routes in Scotland. Thanks for sharing.

It really is a special route Graham. We loved it, some tough climbs and the scenery is stunning. Pleased that you enjoyed it.

Nice one Scott. You picked a brilliant day to do it. It’d be nice to know what you thought of the route, after you watched the video, to see if you agree with my thoughts on it.

Another great story Doug. I'm planning a few weeks in Scotland next Spring and this area is on the list. Have you come across Simon Willis's "Always Another Adventure" channel? Some great videos and info about this area. Cheers.

As a Lochaber resident I must respectfully correct your spelling of Loch Tully: it's actually Loch Tulla.
Next time you're in the area, on your way from Ardgour to Strontian I recommend turning left on the B8043 and detouring via Kingairloch, but I'm biased as I grew up there! The road does go through, and out at the other end onto the Strontian-Lochaline road. There's a sod of a hill leading down to Loch Sunart: if your brakes fail on that, to quote an American saying, "Kiss your ass goodbye!"

Apologies for the spelling DK. That detour sounds good, brakes willing.

Stunning footage Dougie! I've ridden that Pollock climb and descent as an out and back on the road bike, brutal!
I've still got to get my GoPro 11 out on the trails, what's the best position if you want to convey a sense of the scenery but don't have a drone, am guessing helmet cam?

Yes or a chest mount as you get less movement with that. I tend to hold the camera in my hand and film from above my head for the scenery shots but it’s easier to do that on gravel than trails.
