Hey Matt! I just played FF8 in Japanese Language on PS4. It was hellish with lots of N3 - N1 level. Still, I learned a lot of kanji and become more proficient looking for words using radical methods. Thank you for inspiring me with this playing game learning concept. いろいろありがとう。

Hi. Can you explain the "radical method"? Does Matt have a video on this method? Is it like for English/French speakers, where you can guess the general meaning of a random word based on the Greek/Latin root of that word??? Thx

@@franckoliver1899 what I meant by radical method is each Kanji have root word to represent the meaning of certain words. Example kanji 言, if you type this radical on dictionary, u will find tons of words using this radical like 語(language),話(speak), etc. So, by recognizing radical aka the root words, it will be easy for you to search the meaning of the kanji. Hope you understand what I'm saying 😁

hey, first of all, thanks for making all of these videos, i've already learned to apply quite a few concepts and have been understanding various things better than before, especially since i'm trying to learn the most things by only going through duolingo, which does an awful job at explaining anything at all. i do learn kanjis on the side aswell and both things are fun to do for me, but if it wasn't for some 3rd source of information, i'd be very lost in duolingo. (i mainly try to learn by using that, just to get a steady stream of vocabulary and i do not want to buy textbooks or anything)
so i've been going through all kinds of videos over the past few weeks, and will probably continue to do so, a few videos a day (at least one to always get some new information in) but i feel like i could be doing a better job still.
but since you got so many different playlists already , i just have no idea at all on where to best start. i'd like to start at the beginning and work myself up the videos in some kind of order that matches the order in which you learn these things. i do understand that N5 comes before N4 and so on, but it is still kinda hard to know if i'm doing it in the best order 😅 i guess at some point, i'll have watched em all regardless, but perhaps some things are better understood, if you are used to previous grammarpoints? at least thats how i feel.
it is very fun though! and everytime i understand a sentence without needing to read the english translation it just makes me so very happy to see some progress 😁
and i'm actually learning some english words and grammar that i didn't truly understand before by learning japanese aswell, since my first language is german and i'm learning japanese in english! 😂 the german free apps to try and learn japanese are just aaaawful to use, and some things are actually so much easier to understand in english than in german, its quite interesting to realize!
learning a language has never been that fun for me before, i never thought i'd try doing so on my own, especially 10 years after school! 😋

    Hey Matt-sensei!
I’ve been studying Japanese for about a week now. Prior to that I have been watching Anime for about 10 years, so I already knew some words. Would you be okay with making a video on how to start learning Japanese, for us beginners. I’m sure people will like it. As you said in your videos, there is no ‘right way’ to study, but it’s quite intimidating and overwhelming to see all of those study sources, like your videos, without any blueprint as to where to begin. In the past week that I’ve watched your videos, I really enjoyed it. Studying a language always seemed so boring to me, but Japanese holds a special place in my heart. Also wanted to mention that when I first watched your video on how learn Japanese by gaming, I already knew you were a genuine person. You are absolutely my favorite YT’er by a mile.
    Keep doing what you’re doing!
