The history of bullet proof vests goes a long way back, and our team found it very interesting! Comment below what you think we should do for the next episode of The Evolution Of Crime Fighting Tools. :-)
My father was a reserve police officer in eastern Missouri in the mid 80's. He got to show me his aramid level iia vest, both front and back panels. This thing probably costs like $100, no more, today. However, back in 1985, this thing was equivalent to about $500 in today's dollar
Claiming that body armour came in to use during medieval times is clearly wrong. The ancient Greeks had well developed armours, as did many of their contemporaries. The Roman armies used armour extensively. You can trace body armour back several thousand years.
Zeglen wasn't the inventor. He certainly became famous for making and demonstrating his vests to a wider audience, but the idea of using fabric to stop projectiles from firearms certainly wasn't new.

Armour both in plate and metal form atleast originate from Roman era 2000 yers ago, Middle Ages if far to late. Thought this is just nit picking.

The flak jacket was for nowdays standards a level 1 vest........
Depends on the specific model of flak jacket. The PASGT vest is rated at NIJ 2a for earlier models and NIJ 2 for later models
@@stahlhelmturtle9822 oh yeah, the vietnam ballistic nylon models were in the level 1+ range
