01:50 Humor: Humor is not jokes; humor arises from pain and enables us to carry on in spite of it. Discover how to search out the humor in even the most tragic scene.
13:57 Opposites: Whatever your motivation in as scene, your performance should also include its opposites; the tension in the scene will arise from sudden alteration between the opposites.
24:19 Discoveries: A scene, even an audition scene, can quickly become rote. Michael shows how to keep "making things happen for the first time" through a constant process of discovery.

At 14:50 he was explaining about👉 finding the opposite... writting down what you are fighting for ... then write down the opposite then turn it into a positive action.... but then he got interrupted
    Any example on that

Say you're fighting for the other person to stay
The opposite: you're not fighting for them to leave
The positive action: you push them away (to make them want to leave)
      It's self-destruction
That's what I think he means

I didn't understand what you wrote
You mentioned positive action : you push them away (to make them want to leave)
But with that action you will have lost that person.
It actually sounds like an opposite

Hi Peter! I'm glad Michael's lessons are helping you. To understand Shurtleff a little more, here are 2 books he recommended to one of his students: "The Road less traveled", by M. Scott Peck and "Elia Kazan: A life", by Kazan himself. The student himself shared it via a comment in a group called "Michael Shurtleff: my friend, teacher or mentor," on Facebook. It's a public group where people who knew Michael upload more content about him. I hope you find it helpful😇🤍
