I think some hefty prison sentences should have been handed out for what they ( the R.S.C. hierarchy - back in Boyd's day, to be fair to Doran) did in chopping down all those beautiful horse- chestnut trees along Waterside outside the theatre. In the summer they were truly beautiful with their blossom and perfume - made the whole thing quite magical.
