I know you probably busy with projects around your new house but just tease us with a short video. I really enjoy your videos, your projects and your sense of humor. I was excited to see all your progress on things! I hope the house stress calms down quickly.
One option for the coat could be to cut it up and make some cute bags with it, just treat it like fabric. (Of course, I love bags and would turn practically anything into a bag.)
Also, for making bras, there are places that sell kits along with patterns so everything you need comes with and you don’t have to research every individual thing. That could be a way to start to decrease the intimidation factor.

Welcome back. Big fan. As someone who knits A LOT with black yarn.. the struggle is real for a good black.
For the Holst, you gonna do multiple washes. I suggest with your colours that you do a couple short ones in cold water with vinegar and DISH SOAP. The dish soap is the key to making the fabric amazing. Do a final rise with some wool wash.
    Beautiful projects as always.

Jimmy! Hello! Thank you for these tips! I need to go rewatch your video on Holst because somehow I thought I needed hot water and unicorn wash 🥴😬🤣 I will say that we have a local dyer here, Evergreen Fiber Works, and their black is amazing but we don't have a local distributor anymore and I forgot about them. Definitely recommend everything they dye!

@@theblacksheepknitter You can try hot water and the unicorn wash. I've never done it, so I cannot comment. I'll put Evergreen Fiber Works on the list for next time I go to the states. I always like (at least) a sweaters quantity of stuff I can't get over here.

Great to see you again! Your Ranunculus is exquisite…amazing looking yarn choice and fabulous fit! I think it’s such a popular pattern because of the yoke design, which is so pleasing to the eyes! I do believe knitting it in black will obscure some of that beautiful yoke detail…imo. I almost cried hearing about your 'coat failure'…boy did I love the way that project was knitting up, you really did such a great and beautiful job with that colorwork. I hope you manage to salvage it somehow, even if it means reknitting it…good luck with what you choose to do. Oh and I am loving your hallway runner…so stunning! Xoxo 🖤🤍

Lovely to see you back! 😊 It's so annoying to have an ambitious project, not go to plan! I just picked up a vintage 80's knitted cardigan that is lined and every part of it is steeked together and I love it! If you are comfortable cutting into it , use a sewing pattern and treat what you've knitted as 'knit fabric', after all that is what it is! Alternatively give felting a go or make some gorgeous new things for your home. It may be too big but it looks very lovely!😍
Just a tip for practice sewing (toile making) for garments when you are figuring out the fit. I use old bedding/sheets i get from thrift stores. They are cheap for a large qty of fabric and a great way to give someting new purpose that might end up in landfill. 😁

WOW - lots going on. It's so good to see you and I'm really excited for you and all the things you're learning. Welcome back - and the lighting is fine - shows that lovely sweater and your beautiful smile really well. There's a woman on YT with a channel called The Stitchery. She makes her own clothing and uses a lot of thrifted fabric to make her own patterns. She also recently did an episode on people reselling unused fabric online affordably and perhaps more sustainably. If I were making things to create a custom pattern, I'd probably buy thrift store sheets. Just thinking and rambling here. Pay me no mind. Good to see you and your beautiful new craft room.

So I too decided to do less (UA-cam and social media mostly) and am only now watching your last video. Girl, so good to see you in your new home. Looks fab! I almost choked when you said you're learning Irish. I'd be happy to provide resources so shout if you need anything, not that I can speak it anymore (did a year of Irish back in a college before moving to live in Ireland). I’m very much looking forward to watching your handmade wardrobe journey … in relation to conventional fashion, I’m apparently an anomaly, so I thought I might like to do the same, but have not gotten my act together to actually start sewing garments. If you’re interested, bootstrap fashions makes a tailored to you mannequin pattern that may save you some time in the long run. Like the garments, I haven’t sewn up my mannequin yet, but your journey may be just the incentive I need to get started 🤗

Yay, you're back! Could you turn your moonflower coat into a blanket? Maybe a slightly shaped blanket for covering your lap and legs? Regarding sewing, are you familiar with Cashmerette patterns? They're specifically aimed at "curvy" bodies and Jenny Rushmore, the person behind the brand, has two books one of which may be of particular interest to you: Ahead of the Curve. She has a whole chapter on fitting trousers around bodacious bottoms. And pancake bums, which is both her and my fit issue. She has a bra pattern with links to shops that have kits for sewing them, again specifically designed for considerable support needs (that's a euphemism) without resorting to buttresses (that's not).

We had snow in TN a couple of weeks ago, which just reinforced by distaste of snow. (I'm originally from the Dakotas, so I do know about snow and snowblowers. Marvelous inventions, by the way.) Love your jacket, sorry it is huge. I am learning how to sized garments also, both knitting and sewing. Off the rack clothes have never fit, but I have never learned how to size, so you are encouraging me. Check out Starlight and Stitches, she knits, spins, and sews and you may find her interesting. Yeah, you're back! Congratulations on your house purchase.
Your rug is gorgeous. It's going to fun to watch it grow.
Have you thought of gently felting your coat? If you could control it that would allow you to shrink it and give it a bit more structure. Not sure if it's possible to control the process well enough.
Lovely to see and hear about quilting and dressmaking. Have you looked at Cashmerette patterns? They are designed for curvy people and come in a wide size range. You'd probably find you needed to make fewer and less extreme modifications. They include bras in their range and provide tutorials and lists of what you need. They also have loads of links to bra kit suppliers so you don't need to get all the bits separately. Good luck. You are braver than I!

Renovations always take longer and are more costly than initially expected. I had to learn that, too. How wonderful that you found a great contractor. When I moved the last time despite downsizing my possessions I still had sooo much. For now, I am enjoying what I have and keep downsizing when the mood strikes me. Anyway, your Ranunculus is beautiful. The Moonflower Coat pattern ist beautiful. Could you felt it and make seat cushions or pillows with it - if you are not re-knitting it? I am working on a self-made wardrobe and took a pants pattern making class last year which was amazing. You'll figure out your garment fit and learn a lot in the process.

Wonderful finished Ranunculus. Wanted to join but too many other things!
I can absolutely get on board with the way you’re thinking with regard to your clothing and wanting to take the time to make things that work for you. I am a never ever sewed type of person but have the inkling that those are things I would like to do. I appreciate the ideas you have with starting with one pattern and perfecting it and making more versions. As for the coat…can you line it with some flannel and make it a winter house coat? I love that idea. Or separate sleeves from body and make it a blanket, using the sleeves as rectangular pillow covers? It really is beautifully done. 🎉 I look forward to what you acquired as your last hurrah in 2023 before shifting to your 2024 mindset. I have also turned from the temptation to buy more yarn & have listed so much stash on Ravelry for sale that some have actually sold. It’s very satisfying. Keep up your lessons and then be the one they fight over to play with. 😮😊

I was thinking of lining it before but then it just seemed so huge and unwieldy. Now I putting that back in the table. Will have to do some video watching and such to see if that makes sense or if steeking and resewing makes sense. It'll be an adventure whatever I choose 🤣 Hurray for destashing!! I can't wait to use up some decades old skeins this year! Good luck to you 🙏🏿🙏🏿

Love that your back! Before you make a chart of the rug, I checked and the chart is a separate download than the pattern. (I don't want you to have to do all the work when it's already done 😉) Also that calamity shawl is gorgeous!! I ran to ravelry and bought it ❤

On the flower jacket, sew in a fabric facing to stabilize the lighter knitting at the top. The jacket/coat is beautiful!

A very late welcome back! Love hearing you chat about everything and your intentions for the year/next few years. Also, hilariously, I missed the boat on your missed the boat KAL XD I was one of those people who didn't really Get the Ranunculus, but a friend of mine who I taught the very basics of knitting a few years ago wanted to make it, so I said I'd make it with her and like you, I am a convert. I feel like I could happily make at least three more!
Looking forward to the next one :)

I love the journey of language learning but often am intrigued by so many. I use drops app for vocab and lingodeer for Korean/Italian. The library gives me free access to Mango which has phrases you can learn. Love that you are developing a pattern that works for you. If you have scraps you can always use for stuffing if making a pillow or cushion. I also heard at my local guild that there is a type of weaving sakiori that uses scraps to give them a new life. Also the lighting is good and your projects are beautiful 😍
