Moon Palace Jamaica is Irritating but INCREDIBLE. I went from Annoyed to Amazed!

- More than a few things went wrong during my stay at Moon Palace Jamaica, but I still left infatuated with the property! And I don't even like family hotels!
Moon Palace Jamaica is one of the most famous and popular all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica. Located in Ocho Rios, which is approximately 90-120 minutes from the closest airport in Montego Bay, the drive is slow and time-consuming, but absolutely worth it.
Come along with a professional traveler who has flown over 1,000,000 miles and stayed over 1,000 nights in hotels just in last 10 years alone. Since starting my UA-cam channel a few years ago, I have stayed at over 80 of the most popular all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean - each stay for a minimum of 3 nights, but usually 4 nights or more at each property. In this video I am giving you all-access of my Moon Palace Jamaica experience, as I film every possible moment and event, from my first step out of bed to my last step of the day.

Princess hotel and resorts is opening their first restort in jamaica next month, you should be the first person to review, it will be the lagrest resort in the caribbean with over 2000 room, its so big they have only completed first phase, which will open next month, next phase will be another 1025 rooms.

The property used to be the Sunset Jamaica Grande and while the renovations were down to the studs, they couldn't change the size of the rooms. That's why they're so small.
Yes exactly and the same for Royalton Hideaway while they renovated they cant change the room size. It was Royalton White Sands and before that it was The Starfish and before that I think Breezes Trelawny.
Great video James! We stayed here 5 years ago. Service was on the slow side, and the small beach has a very mucky bottom.
As soon as you walk off property to go to the craft market or stores, the nonstop harassment to purchase a-z is dizzying.
My parents were there just a couple days ago for a conference. They absolutely loved it! It was also free for them to attend so they enjoyed it.

This has much more reference to authentic Jamaican cuisine than the excellence oyster bay. But so American with Miami and Vegas influences. Interesting!
Beautiful property with so much going on! I felt like the beach looked a tad crowded with no separation. I don't want to relax on the beach that close to a stranger or kids. I am anxious to see Moon Palace Cancun. Been a minute since I stayed there, but definitely enjoyed it. Great video!! Love the new style!
I haven't stayed there in years but I LIVED in that lobby bar. Lol. They had the best drinks! I got the Jamaican breakfast every morning at the buffet.
If there's one thing I learned from this channel, it's when the 20:14 music hits, I immediately expect food I'll never ever be able to afford.

I'm waiting for your thoughts on The Grand @ Moon Place Cancun. I visited this property right after Palace aquired it. As I remember, the rooms were bigger in the newer tower building. Your review is consistent with our experience there.
great research my sister jamaica is really making some massive moves never in my life has i seen the level of developments that's going on in jamaica allover the country massive developments are on going and yes the government is building 6 STEM schools 4 massive hospitals are currently under construction one of the major attraction for investments in jamaica its jamaica strategic geographic location jamaica is at the mouth of the Panama canal jamaica is literally in the center of the world the government is currently positioning jamaica to be a massive global logistic hub...the pinnacle project is actually 4 skyscrapers that will be the tallest buildings in the Caribbean the world famous hardrock hotel and casino is also under construction that will be over 2000 rooms the massive princess hotel and casino is under construction and slated to open some time this year it's another 2035 room hotel and casino 3 massive highways are currently under construction it's mind blowing to see the level of developments on going in the country...stay tuned jamaica is definitely make some massive moves we're a small country with a very big stick
James Great Video!!! I think this looks like a place that can't really be experienced in 3 days. For me it has a couple of critical flaws. The first flaw is the distance from the airport which breaks my 30 minute rule. The second flaw is that it's a family place. Other than that I would go there in a heartbeat.
Well one could strategically plan their stay with American now flying to Ocho Rios’ Fleming Airport on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

You can fly to Ocho Rios directly from Miami into the Ian Fleming Intl Airport (IFIA) on American Airlines a few times a week; it’s a pretty new route so not many airlines fly there right now

Pretty spot on review! The best restaurant was hibatchi hands down, wish you could have tried it! Also best spa I’ve ever been to in my life, the second best is the grand at moon place in Cancun though. You have e to do the spa in Cancun ok!

@Coolist Great Review James! Never stayed there as I prefer Adult Only properties. However, I do refer my clients with families to this property. Plus Ocho is the best spot for people who want to do off site excursions in Jamaica. American Airlines does now fly to Ocho’s Fleming Airport on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I hope you give yourself more time in Cancun, it is huge. You have Moon Palace and then you have Moon Palace The Grand. Save you some calories for the steakhouse at The Grand.

Do you happen to know if that property was a Renaissance many years ago? We stayed at a resort within view of the cruise terminal in Ocho Rios over 20 years ago any this looks vaguely familiar.

Lucky you. I have no luck whatsoever w/room service. Food takes a long time to arrive & usually not good at all in ALL resorts.
You can fly directly to Ocho Rios through the Ian Flemming Airport.
I like how the main pool allows children in it. Lets the adults go to the swim up bar while the kids can still be in the same pool at a distance. Unlike the Rio hotels where no children are allowed in the pool with the swim up bar.
James, Does this resort have facilities in place ( ramps, golf carts etc) to help me get everywhere I might want to go? (ie: from room to restaurants, beach, pool etc..) Thanks so much, Steve S

Girl, do you hear of anything happening to tourists in Jamaica? Stop being dense and ridiculous. Jamaica was recently ranked as one of the safest countries in the world for tourists. Google it if you think I am joking. And Jamaica is one of the most visited countries in the Caribbean, Central and Latin America. However, like MOST countries in the world, there are places in Jamaica you just don't venture alone! You have a better chance being robbed in Paris or London

@@NewaccountNumber a good comparison is Cozumel. I stayed at a similar all inclusive with bigger rooms at $450 a night. They did not have as many restaurants on site and the property was smaller though.

James, my family has been vacationing on Jamaica since the 1960's. Approximately 6 years ago, it got so dangerous that we've never been back. Sorry, if the government gets it's act together anytime soon, perhaps then, and only then would I consider visiting again... Nice property, but no....

That’s the old Jamaica Grande Hotel. I think I would like the old hotel better. I stayed there years ago. I would rather visit a Jamaican hotel in Jamaica, than a Chinese hotel in Jamaica.
